Was the Odyssey by Homer just an early form of rap?
>>25273536Wasn't this guy responsible for the death of some people in one of his concerts
>>25273536Baffling claim. Nolan's an idiot.
>I made him black because uh rapBravo Nolan
>>25273536Nolan fucking sucks, holy shit.
>>25273536Rap has no cultural influence, it's violent, it's misogynistic, repetitive. Homer is historical, ancient, culturally significant.
>>25273623Misogyny is also historical, ancient, and culturally significant
>>25273559>AnglosMore like Americans. Nolan is a Unitedstatian
The Illiad is a rapsody
Homer & Travis Scott just linked up
At this point I‘m glad he‘s going out of his way to make his movie visibly retarded so I don‘t have to play the pedant on matters where it‘s subtly retarded.
>>25273623It has cultural influence whether you like it or not.Rock died, and in its place was pop and rap. Both of those have battled it out for which reigns supreme in the cultural moment, but both are titans regardless.
>My dick longer than a Pringle box>Yeah, think I'm shitting on you, but I barely farted>Woke up, cocaine all in my hair, thought it was lice
>>25273743It does have cultural influence but this counts for little other than the effect of promotional funding in a decrepit culture. "Titans" seems an odd word.
>>25273536All the kikes involved in this 'project' are having a blast humiliating the greeks and literature.
>>25273743desu it has more cultural influence than most forms of music ever did. We're coming up on 50 years of it and it's spread to almost every country, even just the fashion surrounding it.People can say what they want about whether it has artistic merit or not but I don't know how they can deny it's cultural influence, it's everywhere
>>25273536most overrated artist of the 21st century, probably
>>25273623>Homer is historical, ancient, culturally significant. His content is full of graphic gore violence, homosexuals, male who consume technically fentanyl on beaches, prostitutes, and loli sex slaves. If Nolan dont use any of these he would be pass to history as a fucking pussy.Thats why Homer is the f greatest. The f word are you talking about?
If someone says that rap is a form of poetry is one thing, but if someone says that poetry seems like rap, then this person is a moron to me.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
>>25274125>male who consume technically fentanyl on beachesI pray that you will have a violent attack of diarrhea because, for your fault, I have read a disgusting thing.
I once had a fleeting idea for an adaptation of Frogs where instead of Aeschylus and Euripides it was Biggie and 2pac. That was meant to be a bit more shitposty, however.
Rap is jewish hypnotism
Travis Scott is a mumble rapper though, it would make sense if someone like King Von (rip) were chosen.
>>25273536Isn't Travis Scott the guy who got turned down by some spic for having mariju*na?
>>25273536Yes, and so finally we whites can reclaim rap. Can't believe those blacks stole our culture.
>>25273536The fuck's going on with Nolan?
>>25274112>it has more cultural influence than most forms of music ever didIt came and went, its peak popularity phase of merely 10 years in the 10s (20 if we're being generous to the 00s) was still btfo by pop and edm. Fucking rock alone dominated the entire second half of the 20th century while rap's barely holding onto the 21st's fledgling years. Don't even need to look further than OP for proof, no one would've lambasted Nolan for casting Travis Scott if this wasn't the case
>>25273651>Implying that the Americans and Anglos aren't cut from the same cloth
>>25273536Anglos are sick in the head. Negrophiles the lot of them.
>>25273743Rap is popular because it's easy to produce and allows Hollywood to control music as a market through an economy of scale model. To that end, rap isn't influential... capital is.
>>25273623>historicalIf you mean that it tells true historical facts accurately, then it's not.If you mean that it has value because it's "muh old" then that's not a quality of the author.>ancientSame as above>culturally significantWhen will chuds get it in their head that culture =/= what I like?
>>25273536Truth be told I fon't mind the colored actors. This is not a historical piece, it's a mythology. The hysteria is stupid.
>>25275687Whose mythology?
>>25273536>I cast a black guy because it represents the illiterate culture that gave birth to the Odyssey
>>25275690You don't know?
>>25275696>The Odissey was totally born as a text and was not a collection of oral stories written down god knows how much time after they were createdI know /lit/ faggots have an inherent bias towards scribbles on a piece of paper, but oral tradition is not inferior to writing, ya know?
>>25275069it's definitely dwindling but it's kind of a harder thing to gauge now. I don't pay much attention to the charts but I've been hearing recently about how "for the first time in x years there's no rap in the charts", where what seems to be replacing it is contemporary bro country alongside the usual contenders, pop and pop edm. Meanwhile whenever we get a new rock band that's blowing up you hear the same sentiments "this band is bringing rock back!", I heard it with Snail Mail 8 years ago and I'm hearing it with Geese now etc.My only point is that both rock and rap continue to exist in a less mainstream way now but are both kept alive by more niche variants. Kids in their 20s now grew up in a time where rap still dominated the mainstream and rock was hanging on by a thread with it's more alternative side. I don't know if I'd say rap has had more cultural influence than rock but they're both up there in impact imo
>>25275687And you don't mind "whitewashing" either, then? Member Ghost in the Shell with Scarlett...
>>25273538bringing the comparison to new levels of authenticity
>>25273536Bro has been hitting the pipe a bit too indulgently
>>25273536that was a thesis i endorsed in high school>>25273623>misogynisticright, that was the counterpoint. even then it was obvious that the reason america is permanently fucked is the rejection of misogyny. it was never america has too much wealth and can paper over the harm caused by antimisogyny with wealth, the fact was always that the harm of antimisogyny would be concentrated on a few men who would be called abusers and losers and the average man would live in fear and shout antimisogynist slogans and hope to be eaten last. indeed, the reason i was interested in rap was that rappers didnt sound afraid of women
>>25273536Both Rapper and Rhapsodist are subclasses of Bard but to try and draw a connection between the two in this context is dumb and marketing speak that cheapens the director, the work, even the actor
>>25275737It is objectively inferior in every single way that matters. I don't think that's even up for debate.
>>25273623>it's violent, it's misogynisticAnd the problem is...?
>>25273536So they're actually going with the meme of the Jamal nigga translation being the next step? 4chan influence is scary
