How do we make literature masculine-coded again?
>>
>>25279217
actually poetry is the real masculine literature
>>
Making circle jerk go nowhere threads is a good start.
>>
>>25279217
Set an example by being someone that's masculine that also reads literature. Most people posting on this board don't meet that criteria.
>>
>>25279226
>that criteria
Opinion discarded.

You wish Middlemarch was only 300 pages.
>>
>>25279217
Why did you post such shitty books written by men. The foid books here are better
>>

The Castle of Otranto is not particularly good and is only remembered for being the first example of Gothic literature. Ann Radcliffe, a woman, was by far the superior Gothic writer, which anybody living during the height of the genre would quickly concede. Wuthering Heights is also a much better book overall and more deftly captures the Gothic sentiment.

>gossip and small talk are…LE BAD
Midwit take. Small talk is social lubricant. Gossip is only bad when it is based on slander

>Wuthering Heights is also a much better book overall and more deftly captures the Gothic sentiment.
Wuthering Heights isn't Gothic. It was published almost thirty years after the Gothic Golden age ended.
>Ann Radcliffe, a woman, was by far the superior Gothic writer, which anybody living during the height of the genre would quickly concede.
But Radcliffe was the exception to the female authors of sentimentality that were most common in the 18th century (even if sentimentality creeps into her works)
>>
>>25279217
wuthering heights is good tho

Stop teaching females how to read.

how does that relate to it being engaging in book form?

simps are created by the threat that your kids are going to be kidnapped and instead of you being able to raise them theyre deliberately turned into eunuchs and whores while youre called a loser and abusive and enslaved. the average man would rather be a simp and worship the birthing skank and pray for a lick of pussy or foot once a year. meanwhile iranians can spend a large fraction of gdp on building bunkers and sell drones to russia
>>
Today the only way to motivate men into reading anything, whether or not it's literature, is to convince them that it'll have practical benefits
I don't think there's any hope

The books in that chart written by men are mostly for teens/YA, the books written by women are mostly written for adults. What is this chart supposed to demonstrate?

Holy manchild. Go back to anime, video games, and porn.

WH has all the classic characteristics of Gothic literature though. I don't see why it wouldn't be considered such for simply falling outside a specific time span. Even so, there are plenty of female writers in Gothic inspired literature which demonstrates the silliness of the image in associating horror with men.

>masculine-coded
Start by not using twitter nu-speak. You could have just said "masculine", you used more words for no reason and it just resulted in sounding gay.

It doesn't
It's not set in the "Gothic ages" (prior to the enlightenment, usually medieval or renaissance) and does not have any connection to those ages IE ruined churches and castles which Gothic Works contemporary to the time they were written still featured.
It isn't anti catholic.
>I don't see why it wouldn't be considered such for simply falling outside a specific time span
You can't capture Gothic sentiment with a book written almost 50 years after the Gothic Golden age ended. It's like saying Blade Runner captures Noir sentiment.
It's a work that derives some inspiration from Gothic Literature. It isn't a core Gothic work. It is far removed from the big four of Gothic literature, those being Otranto, Mysteries of Udolpho, The Monk and Melmoth the Wanderer.

It never was?
It has always been a hobby for upper-class sissies who had too much free time and who lived vicariously through those works because the real world was too "savage" for them. The Quixote literally lampoons that.

No it wasn't you retard. Lower class people frequently indulged in literature even going back to the 16th century.
