Can you elaborate? I planned on reading it.
>>
>>25280336
Okay, PEDO.
>>
>>25280340
I know nothing about the book, I just heard it was rather dark. That's why I'm asking. Can you contribute something as opposed to making shitposts?
>>
>>25280340
seething christoid lol
>>
>>25280347
M-m-m Mr. Epstein! Is that really you? Big fan, here. Shalom
>>
>>25280230
lol, every time a tranny shrieks about jk rowling, I put a harry potter book in a free little library. I've probably created a thousand terf sprouts by now.
>>
>>25280359
would you defend this trite if her political beliefs didnt match yours?
>>
>>25279858
If you get addicted to trauma then you have to read books like this. There honestly aren't enough brave authors to create the trauma porn
>>
>>25280345
It's your typical transgressive lit. It's extremely repetitive and mostly just a catalog of atrocities and the characters commenting on how "delectable" said atrocities are. If you've read shit like Hogg you'll be bored to tears by the exact same shit being exhaustively described over and over again. The exhaustive repetition prevails throughout and if you get the version of the story where he stops mid-story to hide the sick shit the characters are doing to the kids for a glossary at the back of the book It's even worse.

I mean it, the fucking retard always stops mid-story just shy of telling you what Duclos and co. are doing and goes "BUT I'LL SAVE TELLING YOU WHAT HAPPENED FOR LATER :DD"

Besides all that, it's just a generally boring fucking story unless you're the exact kind of pervert who would actually read stuff like this with the intention of whacking off.
>>
>>25280390
Thank you, anon. Much appreciated. I am not interested in transgressive literature for the sake of fulfilling some sick desire, more so just a curiosity of how dark some lit can get. I had Hogg on my list for the same reason, it was recommended as a superdark book.
Within this vein, can you recommend some books that have an actual, good story to them that aren't relegated to just torture porn?
>>
>>25280400
nta but read Lautréamont, Genet (Thief's Journal, Our Lady of the Flowers), Bataille (Story of the Eye, Blue of Noon) if you're interested in transgressive literature
>>
>>25280390

salo is the worst starting point for de sade and its him at his least focused since it was written from within a prison cell
theres a system behind the madness, start with dialogue between a priest and a dying man
also helps having a general grasp of the historical context and the circles de sade frequented
>>
>>25280411
Merci beaucoup, anon.
>>25280416
Merci a toi aussi. I will check all these out.
>>
>>25280400
>Can you suggest transgressive lit that's actually entertaining?
I would, but I haven't found it yet.
>>
>>25280421
That's fair. I'm starting my way by gnawing on Blood Meridian. I am aware that that is as normie as it gets on here but yeah that's my 2c.
>>
>I was planning on reading 120 Days of Sodom
Boy, I hope you enjoy endlessly descriptions of people sniffing farts and eating shit.
>>
>>25280428
oi anon you can just reply to me yaknow? consider that i've read nothing about it and only heard about it recently. that said, your take makes it sound about as disgusting as i expected from this genre. i'm not into that nor am i excited but for the shock factor alone, that is why i want to dive into it.. admittedly, i would prefer a good story too but it is what it is.
>>
>You can just reply to me, know?
Shan't
>>
>>25280459
Now you're just being difficult for the sake of being difficult...
>>
Maaaaybe :)
>>
>>25280468
That's alright, What's life without a little whimsy? Enjoy your weekend, anon.
>>
>>25280459
shant or shont?

>>
nice english skills bro
and now write "thanks" like a good script-bound midwit does
>>
>>25280336
Nta but it is an unreadable book with no point to it whatsoever that ends up being more headache inducing than thiught provoking or even just provoking
Mind you, I say that as someone who as someone who has an (unfortunate) fascination for his writing and has read other works by him
>>
>>25280376
It's tripe you doofus
>>
>>25280544
nah thats delicious food
>>
>>25280230
Book five is alright
>>
>>25280542
so, just torture porn/smut. strange, i wonder why his other works don't shine as much.
>>
>now write "thanks" like a good script-bound midwit does
No. Duck my dick.
>>
well god-DAMN this guy is a wild card
>>
>>25280557
Why? I remember it being the most boring one, but that was 20 years ago.
>>
>>25280560
It benefits for the added mystique of being a lost work that was written while he was in prison and he himself teased it as his masterpiece
I also think there is a component of his other more philosophical works being brutally coherent and essentially acting as a reconstruction of liberalism. For instance his argument for justifying abortion are verbatim the ones the pro-choice crowd use nowadays, only he goes on to use those same arguments to justify murder of undesirables
He was a wacky fella, and to his credit I still have to read something quite as exuberant and out there as 120 days that still manages to not fall into the carnivalesque like for instance apollinaire does
>>
>>25282381
It has some truly compelling insight init teenage angst and it is the only mystery that justifies itself
The only other volume with any worth is book 6 with hands down the best passages of the whole series about grief and loss
The rest I can honestly let go, with a couple of entries that were just plain shit
>>
>>25282406
>I also think there is a component of his other more philosophical works being brutally coherent and essentially acting as a reconstruction of liberalism
This, the manifesto section of Philosophy in the Bedroom is pretty much the first example of 'revolutionary critique' in the Marxist sense of the term, pushing the ideology of the liberal revolution beyond its breaking point until it becomes self-deconstructing
>>
>>25282413
Books 1-3 was just JK fooling around and not knowing what direction she’ll take the story in outside of the Voldemort Team Rocket hooligans.

Book 4 was basically her finally getting said direction and suddenly it’s a classic anime tournament arc with a shock value death at the end and some Dragonball/Naruto style protagonist/villain attack-counterattack clash.

Book 7 was her bringing back the anime tropes to finally tell something akin to a hero’s journey, except it’s all over the place in a single, bloated book and people die for the sake of increasing death count (F Remus, you did nothing wrong and got off-screened for it).

Could you elaborate?
>>
>>25280359
There is nothing inherently TERF about harry potter desu, its both at best and at worst a moderately amusing wish fulfillment YA with shallow world building and no discernible deeper meaning or morals. Its neither left wing or right wing, just poorly thought out.

There's a reason it was the nostalgia bait for liberal millenials for ages until rowling lost her marbles. And theres also a reason the far right has not really tried to claim the book either.
>>
>>25282609
>men that wear dresses aren't actually women and it's dangerous for these mentally ill men to be in women's bathrooms
What a psycho, definitely insane
>>
>>25282609
I agree. The first few books at least were whimsical and fun. The later ones were way too serious, convoluted and long for how little they conveyed.
>>
>>25279858
Throw all de sade enjoyers into the sun, unironically. ESPECIALLY if they start coping about 'muh artistic significance'.

>>25280230
Good second choice
>>
>>25282640
No that's normal, by "lost her marbles" I meant all the feminist bullshit about women having rights.
>>
>>25282704
I'm sorry to beak this to you but YWNBAW
>>
I actually liked the list of stuff at the end and got hard at a couple of them
Wish he expanded on those instead of the hundreds of bullshit boring pages about eating shit and how aristocrats should be able to get away with anything because dude we're elite lmao
>>
>>25282736
I would hope not, I like being a 6'1 chuddoid
>>
>>25279858
>>
>>25282406
I appreciate this post, anon. Thank you, you have been able to completely capture the amount of information I required to have a satisfactory conclusion on this matter. Please enjoy your night.
>>
>>25282406
The fact there was a pretty infamous movie probably helped.
>>
>>25279858
everything not conan
>>
>>25280359
bro is a billionaires good little soldier and he does it all for free, you're more pathetic than trannoids
>>
>>25283547
Yeah it’d be better if he got paid in bowls of rice like you do LOL
