Both of these seem made by some 18 year old who only knows about literature from this board. Moby dick was widely taught in high schools and its supposed to be a trophy book?

Yeah, whatever, dude. You just keep crying over there and I'll be collecting all these literary W's.

They also taught latin and ancient greek in high schools, can you find someone under 40 able to read that nowadays?

You're right, the whole chart is written from the view of a person who reads books in school and thin books on their own time. Moby-Dick is not taught in high school for a long time, and nobody reads it for fun, but prestige only, so it's acceptable to call it a trophy book and notice that layers of the book are inaccessible to readers who can only access it from a redoubtable plateau. I would move the Bible down one layer and starting at trophy books make the penguin look increasingly dazed and intranced. Then I would add a final layer and move the qu'ran to it which are books that reprogram a person.

>"Obscure and/or Complex"
>Metamorphoses, Confessions of a Mask, Gawain, Gilgamesh, Turn of the Screw, Mrs. Dalloway
I like how you can immediately tell this was a product of reddit before seeing the reddit username credited at the bottom. Say what you will about /lit/ but absolutely nobody here would be trying to pass off extremely widely-read literature often assigned in middle or high school as obscure and/or complex

Moby dick had been taught in high schools for a long time and abridged versions are still taught now. It is not a trophy book by any means
