What do we think about pic related?Reading for pleasure as a hobby is in freefall. Has been for like, 20 years. And yet the volume of books on Amazon is exploding because of AI slop. It's looking pretty bleak for aspiring writers.
I mean, even before AI, it was actually pretty bleak.
If only you knew how bad things really are.
>>25287334Yeah I mean it's suicide fuel. I built my entire identity on being a great writer who will one day be remembered like the greats but now even if you publish you will always be suspected of using AI, you will always be competing against the vast wave of AI generated shit, and besides nobody will care because nobody reads anyway.
thank god i actually know how to read and can simply amass recommendations from the writers i already value and trust. like in the good ol days.
>>25287369You'll be suspected of AI if you self-publish.
>>25287360hearing about genre fiction getting the axe is like hearing about a corn or raisin silo in nebraska going up in flames
This is actually based because the only way to do submissions will be to charge a small fee like $2 or something which will completely stop spammers and AI slop and also make the lefties ree because nobody should have to pay to have a chance at being an artist or whatever and capitalism is shitting on the democracy of art and all this bullshit
>>25287360Old news dawg. Clarkesworld is open to submissions again.
>>25287334I have no interest in ever reading something written by AI, unless maybe it's porn.
>>25287384>raisin>silo>in nebraskaRetard
>>25287334The only way to escape slopsara will be to do everything in person.
>>25287334Fuck Amazon. Just start your own indie press and become a tastemaker.I purposely spam amazon with shitty POD books (chapters removed, weird formatting, scans with inage res purposefully degraded) set at different price points JUST to waste peoples time and money.Dont like it? Stop giving Jeff GAYzos your money. Its a race to the bottom anyways may as well embrace it.
>>25287334Smart people will always read. AI is irrelevant because nothing of quality can come from it, only regurgitated imitation. Amazon is a great thing for authors and readers to have direct access to do business without faggy industry gatekeepers preventing the existence of politically incorrect and possibly great books.>>25287739>I purposely spam amazon with shitty POD books (chapters removed, weird formatting, scans with inage res purposefully degraded) set at different price points JUST to waste peoples time and money. What kind of 3rd world scammer behavior is this? kys Ranjesh.
