Why haven't you read Barabbas by Par Lagerkvist?
>>

Why should I?
>>
But everyone has. Vintage is an entry-level litfic publisher (now imprint of Penguin).
>>
But I have read it?
>>25287807
Because it's good
>>
I have, as have all swedes who read. I love it. Don't know how it would do in translation. It wouldn't be too unfair to say that there is so much quality literature in english that Lagerkvist is not a priority.

Ah, but I have, and it is amazing. Swedes can really do it well.

I've seen the movie. It's actually really good
>>
>>25287809
Is it?
>>
>>25287798
I have. The Dwarf is superior though.
>>
>>25287798
I have read it. I came to it via The Dwarf.

I thought The Dwarf was better.

Not really. 6000 people have logged this on Goodreads after like a decade. It's a niche literary novel. Not even remotely comparable to something like Lolita.
