AI will be the death of traditional publishing. Every writer is going to be forced to self-publish and the only metric for "success" will be raw sales. Naturally this means slop (whether human generated or AI generated) will dominate even more than it already does, but it also means that good writers whose style/subject matter/demographic is rejected by traditional publishers might be able to find a niche for themselves that they couldn't before.
