>>25288311Napoleon: A life. Or whatever other book on him interests you more. He is key to a lot of the top lit out there. Dosto, Tolstoy, Melville and Stendhal to name just a few. You cannot be well read before you have consumed a bare minimum of 1000 pages on Napoleon.
>>25288571Honestly except for a few exceptions like Tolstoy and Stendhal most authors that include references to Napoleon just use him as a motif representing the idea of a 'great man' and don't seem particularly well-informed on his life or deeds. In fact, knowing the specifics of Napoleon's life often weakens the feelings they're trying to invoke because Napoleon is a rather misunderstood figure. Everyone should still read at least one biography of Napoleon, Caesar and Alexander for wisdom purposes though

>>25288311I suggest you start with a fiction book that you can get into. Fantasy and sci fi are good but you need to pick something stable that almost anyone would like. lIke read Lord of the Rings for the first time if you haven't. The point being to get yourself in the habit of both reading, but also enjoying it. Soon you will find the act of reading or getting your reading in for the day to be enjoyable. That is when you can start expanding and reading nonfiction aswell as fiction. You also don't have to read one book at a time. You can use multiple books to read when each book is appropriate. For example I might read some fiction before bed but start my day with something that requires more studious attention.
