I really like how Sade introduces the libertines. They are so evil, cruel, and perverse that it does come off as funny.

I've gotten soft as I've gotten older apparently. The first time I read it I just thought it was repetitive and boring, the second go around years later the section where they focus on eating shit and sniffing farts legitimately made me fucking gag.

Yeah I think I'm done. I'm getting literally nothing from reading it. I'm about 1/4th of the way through or a little over and it's just repetitive dribble. I get it's gross yeah, I can see why it would have sent people into a frenzy. But reading about snot eating, piss drinking and scat eating isn't teaching me anything. I guess I was hoping for something shocking and truly revolutionary like Texas Chainsaw Massacre was to low-budget grindhouse horror or Starwars was to sc-ifi epics. Instead it's just repeating the same shit over and over again. I skimmed the notes section and yeah it's gnary but again nothing I haven't seen before. Maybe I'll read Justine later but this isn't worth reading.
