I thought this was supposed to be horrifying. It's funny.
>>
I really like how Sade introduces the libertines. They are so evil, cruel, and perverse that it does come off as funny.

The girls are funny too
>Her ass hole was so foul and dirty that even these sick people wouldn't go near it

I was doing pretty well until he began to describe shit-encrusted leaky assholes on old women.
>>
I've gotten soft as I've gotten older apparently. The first time I read it I just thought it was repetitive and boring, the second go around years later the section where they focus on eating shit and sniffing farts legitimately made me fucking gag.

Yeah I think I'm done. I'm getting literally nothing from reading it. I'm about 1/4th of the way through or a little over and it's just repetitive dribble.
I get it's gross yeah, I can see why it would have sent people into a frenzy. But reading about snot eating, piss drinking and scat eating isn't teaching me anything.
I guess I was hoping for something shocking and truly revolutionary like Texas Chainsaw Massacre was to low-budget grindhouse horror or Starwars was to sc-ifi epics.
Instead it's just repeating the same shit over and over again. I skimmed the notes section and yeah it's gnary but again nothing I haven't seen before.
Maybe I'll read Justine later but this isn't worth reading.

times like these I begin to wonder if there ever was anything to the genre besides fetishists with psychosis

No, there wasn't. Are you retarded? It's all fetish bait.

not really

I'm not a fan of the Marquis de Sade, but of course he/(you) learned something from the book. There is something to be learned about yourself and the work in almost anything that there is to be read. You are learning primarily of course what de Sade thought, felt, and did, what he thought was worth writing about either to shock, offend, titillate, to entertain or even just to inform. You are learning about the cultural mores and sexual world of 18th century French aristocratic circles at their most deviant, about the lusts and fetishes of the most deviant people in a given society, an aspect of humanity that has pervaded throughout all cultures throughout human history. You are learning about yourself, what disgusts you, or what you find inane, what you find to be the antithesis of good writing or of permissible or moral behaviour, or what constitutes the value of a book if there is no greater point outside of shock or titillation. Even in stopping now you are now more informed on a variety of subjects than you were before you read it. In fact in ceasing to continue the book you have learned what is your limit for deviant, degenerate, masochistic sexual behaviour and descriptions of it; whether you found that you were opposed to it from your own moral sensibilities, or simply that it bored you in its inanity, in its pointlessness. You learned, and you didn't even know it.

It's supposed to be inspiring, which is why it's funny.

Didn't read. Shut up, nerd.

Most brilliant, gigabrained satire of the enlightenment ever penned. And truer than the commoner understands.

While it is pleasing that de Sade died in screaming agony of gangrene at the end of his pitiful life, having contributed nothing of any value whatsoever to literature--we must look beyond the immediate facts of his life and death to see his real contribution to history.

That of course being that his awful book was adapted into an awful film, Salo, which got its director, the gay faggot communist Pier Palo Pasolini, hideously tortured to death by Right Wing Men (the only sort of men truth be told) who captured him and sliced his ears in half and ripped out his teeth and crushed his genitals and then beat his face in.

Now one can imagine how phenomenal this is. The man whose name inspired Sadism as a term never got to indulge in any particularly exemplary instance of it in life, but two centuries after his squealing porcine death, his terrible writing got ANOTHER disgusting spiritual Jew killed in the most sadistic manner possible.

Beautiful stuff. Imagine the screaming. I wish they had recorded it, they never do and it's a damned shame. A righteous expurgation of left wing filth like that should be a cherished treasure for generations hence to enjoy.

>spiritual Jew
Passolini was fighting against literal jews, faggot, grab a book

Sorry but you're not going to convince me that it's actually possible to make hideouspornography and to spend one's life seething about Fascism without serving the Jews. To add such ugliness to the world is to accomplice oneself to their sordid ends. His thin excuses were of course just that. A desire to debase the world further to bring about gommunism.

And he paid quite a high price for it, no? Nobody was ever punished either. You rarely see such immaculate justice inflicted these days.
>>
>>25335332
Nah this didn't happen
>>
>>25335482
That's quite an overreaction for such a boring film that failed to capture even 1% of the depravity of the book
I suspect 99% of people that say the film is LE FUCKED UP haven't actually seen it
There's maybe two actually disturbing scenes, the rest is just boring dreck
