I've found a pattern among "established" RR authors releasing a new fiction: they treat their new story as if they were releasing for their main WN. Basically, they release the series in severe need of an editing pass or three, the first chapter is completely unpolished, and there isn't even a good hook a few chapters in. It's almost like they've completely given up and rely only on their fanbase to rocket up. Which--fair enough, it works most of the time, but I bet they could get a better response if they put slightly more effort into it.
