I went to an arboretum today to take pictures of myself for an online dating profile. (I always seem to consider giving it another go approaching my birthday, which is in November.) I brought a tripod that I would balance my phone on, since I don’t have an actual attachment for the phone. Set the timer for 10 seconds and hurry back in view of the camera and assume different poses. Standing in front of a rhododendron. Sitting with legs extended in front of me towards the camera, arms at my sides, palms down on the grass. Sitting indian style. Checking the first few pictures, I have to remind myself to smile. The “smiling” pictures somehow look worse. I look sallow in every picture, as I have since adolescence. I have dark circles around my eyes and gaunt cheeks. In my 30s my hair started turning grey and now at 42 is entirely grey on the sides and back of my head. The hair on top of my head is mostly mouse brown, which because of the contrast with the grey sides, gives the effect that I’m wearing a toupee. My look gives the distinct impression of a cancer patient out on a day pass. I need to take another picture or two at home in different clothes, maybe one at the dining room table and one on the couch.

This is my future, and it is indeed depressing.

I heard that the bottom left book is kinda "based" because it does not pretend that the comanches were any less brutal or more enlightened than the settlers were.

Honestly it might be more dignified for a bygone culture to be remembered for the terror it inspired in others than for it to become a subject of universal pity. Fear and respect are two sides of the same coin, but pity can only be felt for things which one looks down on.

Phillip sits at his desk as a professional actor for the role of a dead inside desk jockey with accompaning props of pictures of family and worn out stationary. He had actually finished secondary objective of having his work done before friday and now has to focus all his energy in his main role as an actor. He never felt as he had free time as he felt the entire office was watching for his next line or performance when in reality the other employees where practicing their own lines in their heads on their own performance.

Last few months or so I wake up in the morning with a headache and feel slightly dizzy. I also feel cold and I have to wear more layers than the weather/temperature would seem to call for.
What’s odd is that when I go away somewhere for a few days or more, the symptoms clear up, but when I return, they come back immediately after the first night I spend back in my apartment.

Should I be worried? It sucks feeling like I’m on the verge of being sick all the time

The rich do not see you as a person. They see you as labor. Labor looks like a person, talks like a person, acts like a person, but isn't a person. A person has money. If you don't have money you're not a person, you're labor. This psychological observation has no exceptions. Never forget this.

I am slightly inebriated and can't find the right way to phrase this. The western world today suffers from two related conditions: the first being the idea that one's actions inform one's identity, rather than one's actions being a product of one's identity or character; the second being some kind of lowest common denominator idea of the innate qualities of things trumping all other qualities. What I mean by the first is that people today will see something like gaming or painting or homosexuality as an innate, immutable cornerstone of their identity, rather than a type of behavior they engage in: "I am a gamer" rather than "I play video games." As a result people come to identify with activities rather than with other people, so you have communities of "gamers" rather than a community of people who play video games with each other. This is a bigger problem than I can convey properly because it atomizes (by turning the focus of one's activity towards the activity itself rather than the relating to others through the activity) and allows much easier control of groups of people (by appealing to oppression of "homosexuals" or marketing to "gamers" rather than appealing to a specific community in a specific time and place). What I mean by the second point is that the whole nature and qualities of a thing seem to no longer be considered in popular and even non-popular discourse: an idea might be discarded because it is nebulously connected to being "brown" or "Jewish" and rational discourse collapses at that point, as either party in a debate or argument enters a slapfight about how gay or Jewish or liberal (in the modern American sense) an idea is rather than its merits. Very quickly this becomes a purity spiral or race to the bottom. Either you must prove you are the opposite of whatever undesired qualities are being used to label (ex. "post hand, gun, and outlet to prove you are a white western man and not a gross smelly brown pajeet") or you attempt to prove the other party is the singularity of all undesired qualities (ex. "you're a brown jewish tranny / you're a nazi trump supporting fascist" and the like). I can't put what it is into words but this behavior has increased exponentially across 4chan over the last few years and is now widespread among normalfags. Pic unrelated I thought it was cool

We're conditioned to look at wealth from a consumer perspective: "how much stuff you can buy." When we say "the rich are greedy" we usually imagine them as wanting more and more "stuff," more possessions. From this perspective billionaire wealth is senseless because there comes a point where you can buy more stuff than you can use in a lifetime.

Except what money actually represents is command over labor, produced by creating a system where the masses need to sell their labor to survive. The greed of the oligarchs isn't "desire for more stuff" but "desire to control people."

So you need to look at wealth numbers in terms of labor. Musk's estimated wealth is $1 trillion. If you assume the average lifetime income is something like $2 million, this means that Musk controls the labor of 500,000 lifetimes. He effectively controls the entire economic output of 500,000 slaves from birth to death. Its just in our wage slave system instead of particular slave owners owning particular slaves, the capitalist class collectively owns the poor and divvys up their stolen labor fractionally via the money system.

With this lens the reason for the unlimited greed of the rich is clear: though there is a limit to how much stuff you can consume, there isn't a limit to how much power you can wield over people. This also explains why billionaires are obsessed with inserting themselves into politics, and things like raping children: their addiction to power is limitless, and anything that affirms them is a drug to them - they get "high" off of exercising their power over others. The impulse is fundamentally the same as a child stomping ants.

Humanity is ruled by tyrannical toddlers, and despite this we've managed to do fairly well because at the end of the day it's the cumulative work of the masses that makes everything work, not the lords. Imagine how much we could have done, and could do without them.

My stepdad told me his mother, who is in her late 70s, just started having anxiety for the first time in her life a couple years ago, and is now on anti-anxiety medication. How crazy is that? I am now more convinced than ever that the rise of anxiety in our society is more a result of something in the water and food than the proliferation of social media.
>>
>>25580815
I’ve used to have some kind of anxious sensation (not full blown anxiety attack, just weird sense) when I had more than two coffees in a row. I went on detox for a couple of months, but now it feels like even two cups tigger me, so I stick with one per day.

Among a numerically restricted people, ethnic equilibrium is only achieved after the civilizing principle has lost all its efficacy; for that principle—having necessarily originated in a noble race—is always too scarce to be subdivided with impunity. Yet, as long as it retains a state of relative purity, it remains dominant, precluding any equilibrium with inferior elements. What, then, occurs when fusion takes place solely between races that have already undergone this initial transformation and are, consequently, exhausted? A new equilibrium could only be established—and I say "could," for no such instance has yet appeared in world history—by bringing about not merely the degeneration of the masses, but their almost complete reversion to the innate traits of their humblest ethnic component, which is invariably the most numerous.

For the Greeks, as for their Iranian brethren, the Aryan invasions were numerically insignificant compared to the masses into which they merged. It was therefore inevitable that, after modifying the populations they encountered for a greater or lesser period, they would in turn be swallowed up by the very element that had successively absorbed their predecessors. This is what happened during the Macedonian era; this is the situation today.

Waiting on new books from the library so I'm here with you tonight. What's everyone up to? Life has been good but something feels off. I've been having strange dreams lately. Reality has been bizarre also. The strangers I encounter seem like they are glitching. They are extraordinarily flustered and reactive when passing me. I see people that look so similar to people I know but haven't seen recently that I can't tell if it's the person I know. When I see these people there is prolonged eye contact but neither of us seem to fully recognize the other. The world around me feels like it's cracking and shattering yet I don't feel worried. I guess it was meant to happen.

Back in my teens and early twenties I got into these animu figurines. I didn’t have a job back then and couldn’t afford buy any, so I just spent there hours and hours glaring at them online. In my thirties I finally got a fine paying job to afford shit like that, so I really jumped into buying more and more. I bought a whole lot. At some point the estimate worth of my collection on second hand market was several thousand dollars. Here’s the caveat: I wasn’t into them for a while since my twenties. I only bought them to make up for the crappy feeling of being excluded because of being “poor family member”. I still keep them, and they burden me taking up the space, but I cannot bring myself to resell them.

In depressive moments such as this I feel my soul vibrating in my arms, a feeling of being a child, abandoned, helpless. The indifference equals lack of value, I seem to think. No one sees me therefore I don't exist. Yet I should be heroic like those "strong" persons and blossom within myself against the world. The exterior is what does me in, her indifference, his eyes. How to explode and dash against darkness? And why does it feel that I haven't grown? By now there should be calluses that prevent me from feeling so directly, at least a pious anesthetic, but I always feel it so strong and the arrow reaches my soul so unfalteringly.

It isn't the most carefully constructed novel and she uses the same terms often enough that it's noticeable, which makes sense as she wrote it quickly for some game with her husband and Lord Byron, but it's just very touching and written like a melodramatic tragedy that is endearing to read.

That’s epistolary novel though, maybe telling instead of showing is something to be expected. Idk, I see that Victor had a reason for not to tell how exactly he created a monster, but idk I wish there was more detail. Also I have a beef with characterization of William (formerly known as a younger child) and Justine right before the action involving them ensued. It like that advice on foreshadowing - when you are done with first draft, go back and drop hints all over the place. But that’s on Persy, should’ve told his woman do exactly that.

cont (1/?

I have discussed the nuances persisting within the negative unity of the Asians and the Hellenizers—two opposing movements that further compounded the anarchy of this society. With no single party possessing sufficient strength, no one achieved exclusive dominance. One had to settle for the rule of a compromise—as indispensable as it was barren—that was constantly tottering, collapsing, and being propped up again. A unified monarchy was impossible, for no race was capable of breathing life into it or ensuring its endurance. It was equally unfeasible to create multiple states, each with its own independent existence. Nowhere did nationality manifest itself clearly enough to be defined with precision. Consequently, people resigned themselves to perpetual territorial reshuffling; the result was instability rather than true movement. There were scarcely two brief exceptions to this rule: one caused by the invasion of the Galatians, and the second by the establishment of a more significant people, the Parthians (1)—an Aryan nation with an admixture of yellow stock which, having undergone early Semitization like its predecessors, eventually merged into the heterogeneous masses.

Ultimately, however, the Galatians and Parthians were too few in number to alter the situation in Asia for any length of time. Had a more vigorous exercise of power not been destined to emerge, the intellectual future of the world—along with its civilization and its glory—would have been sealed at that very juncture. While anarchy was taking permanent hold in Western Asia—heralding with irresistible force the ultimate consequences of final degeneration—India, for its part, was heading toward the same destiny, albeit with unparalleled slowness and resistance. China alone continued its normal course, defending itself against any deviation all the more easily because, having attained a less exalted level than its illustrious sisters, it faced less active and less destructive perils. Yet China could not represent the world; it was isolated and lived for itself, preoccupied above all with the modest task of ensuring food supplies for its masses.

Neetdom divorced me from reality. I managed to escape from it once, in my early 20's, when I got into an university. I promised myself that I would never fall so low again, yet here I am, almost thirthy, midway through my fourth year as a neet.
I've been trying to escape it and I don't know how. Everything I try is useless. I understand my behaviours, my traumas and the origins of both better than I did before, but this knowledge doesn't translate itself into action. I need to act, instead fear and anxiety cloud my vision and leave me paralized. I've tried so many things during the years. At this point, a year ago, I had faith that a skill I had been developing would result into an entry level job. Just another fuckup, in the end.
Early this year I realized I wanted to be a doctor, probably have wanted it for almost a decade, and kept supressing it because the journey was hard and I didn't believe myself capable of it. Now I'm too old and don't havethe necessary resources to become one. A dream past due date.
I think the most realistic course for me is trying to get some freelance work with the skills I do have and after some months try to apply for a job, using the my freelance portfolio to get a foot on the door. It's hard doing anything when you've been taught you are subhuman ever since you were a kid. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Acting without an ounce of self-belief, it feels impossible most days.
I hope five years from now I don't recognize the man who wrote these worlds, but for that to come true, I gotta move. For now it's just me and therapist gpt against the world. I hope that's enough.

The Missouri Breaks is such a piece of shit movie that could have been so much better. Brando took a massive shit all over it. It’s insane what he did in this movie. Every scene he’s in he just stream of consciousnesses some meaningless nonsense at the other actors in a bad accent, then they do their best to try to play off of it and maintain cohesion until the scene is over.
