Interesting highlights about this text:-Coverage on European white metal / pewter kits. While these kits and models didn't take off a strongly as say resin, Hobby Japan did extensive coverage on some of the best, both from large companies and smaller hobby/garage runs.-Bandai's 1981 Elmeth (then called the Hermes), Bigro and Grabro models are shown with some additional fanfiction written about them from the builders.-Takara's Dougram & Space Runaway Ideon kits are shown, primarily with some support from Kunio Okawara giving opinions and sponsored ads all through the book.-Western films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Alien are covered with 1/12 scale models made from white metal / pewter. Star Wars and Star Trek, especially The Empire Strikes Back, are covered kit wise.-Lots of coverage on general plamo, including guns, planes, ships and D & D tabletop pieces.-Soldier Blues by Motofumi Kobayashi, specifically from Act VIII titled "Waldner 555 (Part 2)" is covered. -Scenes from the 21st Annual Japan Plastic Model Show, held October 19th to the 20th of 1981 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Hall. A life sized RX-78 II Gundam was on display at Bandai's booth while Dougram also made appearances. As this is the December 1981 issue, many of the kits had already been released a month prior by November. All sorts of kits, including Kabuki dolls, were presented.-Two tabletop games are included for free.-Tons of ads for recruitment for hobby groups, shops and build meets.

Is it known if there are any art books for Daiohja? Of all the 70s and 80s mechs shows this seems to be the one with by far the least info available on the English internet (doubly odd because it's a Sunrise show), so I'm curious to learn more. I don't know where else to ask this and I think it would hardly be worth a thread of its own, but I need do help so here it goes:I recently downloaded full copies of the RaXephon R1 DVDs off AB since Sentai in their infinite wisdom decided to use their license for the series to release the godawful Q-tec blu-rays, so owning a legitimate physical release is sadly not an option right now.I was planning to just remux the discs into individual episodes using MakeMKV and use an USB to play them with my Blu-ray player, like I've done many times before for other series, but I'm having some issues in this case. The de-interlacing is just not working properly. There are very visible interlacing artifacts present when a character does something snappy, like moving their head from side to side. I've tried modified some flags related to the interlacing information using MKVToolnix but nothing seems to work, and as I said before, these RahXephon DVDs seems to be only piece of media this is happening for, so I have no reference as to what the problem or solution might be.Could there be something in particular about DVDs that's the issue?
>>23362762>Could there be something in particular about these DVDs that's the issue?*For reference, I recently rewatched Gasaraki and Spriggan in the same fashion and there were no such setbacks.

So, I'm planning to rewatch the series and thus recently grabbed it from the cat site. It came with season 0 which I didn't know about. It has two episodes, 02 Wings to the Future and 03 Genetic Awakening, which seems to be a full length movie. Does Majestic Prince S00E01 exist? Is it even worth digging around to find, if it wasn't even included?
>>23366613Wings to the Future is a extra episode to tie in with the movie, pretty much is episode 25, the Genetic Awakening movie is a direct sequel to that and the series. No additional seasons, just some weird folder sorting.

Found this while poking around today. The Super Robot Chronicles books - volume 1, 1963-1997 is pictured, and volume 2 is '97-2013. And despite what a valuable resource they seem to be, they're not on EH. Anyone here got 'em?

>You have control.>I have control.Where does that exchange originate from? I rewatched two shows lately (Majestic Prince and Zegapain) and both made a reference to that at some point when switching from automated to manual controls but I can't remember what it came from and it's been kind of drilling at the back of my mind lately.

I gotta buy & scan this one of these days. Steel Man Sigma, a 1964 Astro Boy clone credited as being created by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, but was actually drawn by Yoshitsuka Miyakoshi, who shortly after would do another Astro Boy clone, Space Boy Soran. I’ve seen multiple people describe Sigma as a spiritual remake of an earlier Yokoyama manga called Thunder Boy.
>>23397939>Space Boy SoranI think I saw an ep of that or twoI wonder if there's a compendium of the faux Atoms
>>23397948Well as far as animated Astro Boy clones, off the top of my head there was Space Patrol Hopper, Space Ace, Prince Planet, Space Boy Soran. As for manga, besides Sigma here there must’ve been TONS of uber-obscure Astro Boy clones.
So I dunno if I’ve bitched &/or moaned about it before in this General specifically, but between various other places I’ve bitched & moaned about EbookJapan & its you-need-to-literally-physically-live-in-Japan-full-time airtight region locking like a billion times at this point.& since it’d be ridiculous to ask someone to to share their account or make one for me, if anyone knows anyone who lives in Japan, could you ask them if it would be less ridiculous for me to offer to pay them, with interest even, to buy & rip some manga for me?

Say, I wonder how familiar you people are with the OTHER Jeeg manga, the one that HNG translated was the one that ran in TV Magazine by Tatsuya Yasuda, the co-creator of Jeeg. But there was also the manga by Akira Oze, which ran in Bouken-Oh (Adventure King). Hello. I'm looking for a show I watched somewhere between 15 to 25 years ago about a group of humans travelling in a spaceship and fighting robot aliens (or alien robots?). The only thing I remember about it is that the humans at some point caught one of the alien robot drones and found out they've got human brains controlling them (otherwise they were clearly mechanical, no visible biotech as far as I remeber). Then they emtpied the thing out and used it to infiltrate an alien ship that was harassing them (at least I think that's how it went). I'm not sure if it was purebred /m/ since I don't think either side had proper mecha but it was sci-fi and set in space, that's almost like 2/3 of a mecha series. Any ideas what it might be?
i've been looking for raws of the plamo wars manga on the sites in the spreadsheet with no luck, any suggestions?

Hey I don’t know if there’s a better thread to post this in, but since I’m eventually gonna be translating manga that I’ve personally scanned, how exactly do manga digitizations & scanlations turn the pages to pure, smooth B&W? Or specifically, how do you do that in Gimp because that’s what I use. At first I figured you just adjust the levels, but that makes the edges of the black lines look slightly jagged & pixely & artifacty, so then I put a very subtle Gaussian blur over that, but it still doesn’t look as good as pro manga digitizations, so like how do they do that?

I've always wanted to catalogue and preserve media, and with the state of the world rn, I think it's important to act on my flight of fancy.I've only ever pirated my old anime before, so I'm not entirely sure where to buy it legally: I want to buy the most comprehensive and free of censorship physical copies I can, but have no clue where to start.
I also plan on buying a BluRay drive for my computer so I can rip stuff off discs and make torrents out of them, and then throw them to the Internet as much as I can for the sake of posterity, complete with all the special features.
I see that crunchyroll sells stuff, but I've heard so much awful shit about them that I don't trust their corpo fingers from violating the artistic integrity of anything they release or rerelease.Any suggestions would be appreciated. In light of Steel Jeeg returning to SRW, I'm considering it for the backlog but apparently this ARR group is variable in subtitle quality (I'm assuming the slang "crabsticks" is synonymous with shit). Scale of 1 to 5, how shit are the English subs? I have enough tolerance to mentally correct a rough handful of syntax nonsense if my experience with Ganbaruger is any indication (though this means I may postpone Go-Saurer and Dagwon if Subdiver failed to improve since then), but too many a minute and it's an instant Alt+F4.Oh, and a belated thank you to the ones who guided me to the best release of Gundam X the other month. Can certainly tell when it got cut short but it managed to be conclusive enough.
>>23470906If Subdivers being at their worst it's a 2, then ARR is ZERO.
>>23470906Guy who worked on ARR subs as volunteer editor here. Steel Jeeg was my first editing job for them, I definitely made rookie errors. At no point in working for ARR was I given footage, I was stabbing in the dark so to say. ARR translations are not so much bad as much as they are simplified that can dilute nuance when watching an actual scene with said suns later. My worst job was likely Barom One, I literally thought two lines were said by the same person. After I parted ways with ARR they replaced a lot of the nouns with shit you know characters never said like retard, 4chan, Ukraine, Putin, etc. machine Blaster IV has this the worst and while Hroizer X also suffered that at least has a DiscoTek release.>>23470911Sorry anon but when they're not shoving in ads or jokes the translations are decent, the sentences follow what goes on screen and most of the time characters are spelled correctly. They're not zero.
>>23471063>Groizer>Subs
>>23422748>>23424079Your default settings may be fucked up, because no one else that's discussed it with me has black text. It should look like picrel. The specific formatting I made shouldn't change the font color and to my knowledge LibreOffice's default setting is to change the text dependent on the background color. An easy fix, at any rate, is for you to just select Every Cell and then manually change the font color to white. As for your artbooks posted, to my recollection none of those are in the spreadsheet/my archives (though it'd be easier to check with names and/or dates). Whether they've been scanned and uploaded elsewhere and I just haven't found/grabbed them yet, I can't say. I'd check ExHentai before buying/scanning your copies, whatever the case may be.>>23366613S00E01 and such is just how retarded shit like Plex sorts specials and movies and stuff, so people that use that & upload content also use said retarded formatting. As far as an actual S00E01, I have no idea what they consider E01 for MP so I can't help you there. Could be anything.>>23445968As anon said, production. Be aware the (new) movies are all their own continuity from the TV show. If you want to be autistic about it the Akito OVAs/movies technically can be watched after episode ~7 or some shit of s2, but you can just watch them after if you want. Also, Judas is dogshit, don't use them please.
>>23448090scrub can both mean "hardsub to softsub" (though most just say OCR) as the anon said and can mean "improved it/cleaned it up".>>23449912https://www.insidescanlation.com/backgrounds/guidesthese are dated guides but there may be some useful information here. Alternatively, I'd recommend asking in an (active) scanlation IRC/discord, like Illuminati-Manga or HNG or some shit.>>23464979I downloaded both of these, but I recommend to download them yourself as well. For MD, HakuNeko is a very easy-to-use tool and has a guide in the spreadsheet.>>23470906If you see ARR, just assume it's functionally unsubbed. "crabsticks" refers to the really shitty gibberish English subs on Hong Kong bootlegs, and named after picrel from one such sub. It's now used as a shorthand for really low quality subs though, yes.>>23471063The problem with ARR is the generally acknowledged complete lack of consistency and effort. You have no idea what you're going to get with any given release in terms of video or sub quality. Sometimes it's good or at least tolerable (or all that's available), sometimes it's horseshit. I seem to recall Dorkly saying at some point that some of their subs are even just crabsticks, once even from another show(?). Considering all that and the fact they show a complete lack of integrity (your own story of working with them simply more proof), it's easier to just tell people to steer away from them and treat them as if they don't exist. Also, thank you to everyone who posted new content. I can't directly link to your posts because 4chan thinks everything is spam, but I do read everything posted in these threads even if I'm super dead.

I'll decide after Gun X Sword, but I'm still worried about the quality of the Go-Saurer subs. If not for the nature of Ganbaruger itself, the instances of the wrong synonyms being used would annoy me more then it already does, but I hesitate to slap it with the crabstick moniker as the dialogue does make sense 90% of the time. It just needs a really hefty v2 overhaul as I assume the checker (Mattman, according to the eyecatches) was at least half-asleep on the job.Oh yeah, speaking of Gun x Sword it's impossible to search properly due to getting mixed up with Sword Art Online: Gun Gale Online.
