kit bashing edition previous thread >>>23312205thread questions:what are you working on?have you ever tried kit bashing your own mechanical monstrosity?
This guy does crazy kitbashes, Kishi Omori.
>>23413902
>>23413902>>23413907I love how alien his work is
>>23415190yeah it's nice
>>23413907>>23415190looks like lancer desune
>>23422486shut the fuck up tom please fucking kill yourself
>>23422461>Plamax 1/24Its finally getting a kit? That is awesome, I liked this design for years
>>23422542whuh i didn't read the label i thought it was a scratchbuild
>>23422542>>23422750I reverse image searched it and it's a scratchbuild, unfortunately. https://www.instagram.com/p/DI_e6mLPBW8/?img_index=1It'll probably get one eventually though, it's popular.
>>23422777>It'll probably get one eventually though, it's popular.the new hasegawa mk44 goldknight they released is almost a carbon copy of older mk44 kits except for maybe 3 parts. if thats the speed the maschinen krieger franchise is moving at, i doubt a 1/20 lancelot is happening anytime soon.
>>23422792yeah it's fucked eh
>>23410516>have you ever tried kit bashing your own mechanical monstrosity?I did :))
>>23426167holy shit that is a lot of gungood shit
Talk about kitbash modeling, the original trilogy of Star Wars used actual modelkits for their space ships. Sadly the scenes involving these models got replaced with cgi in the special edition of the films.
>>23426237This reminds me how little there is when it comes to humanoid mecha in Ma.K. Beside Lancelot and the Hunds, i don't remember any other new variants.
>>23426167badass
>>23422461>>23422462fuck you kow! make a lancot kit already!!!!
>>23433018what's a lancot?
I want one so bad dudes
>>23433821
>>23433018It is up to Wave/Hasegawa to make Lancelot. Yokoyama probably gave them Lancelot scratch build but the production went nowhere.
>>23433821>japanese people making the coolest thing in the world so they can sell five copies of it in person at garagefest, taking place in their neighbors garageLike I get it but goddamn. There would be less tantalus if they didn't make it for sale at all.
>>23433895I mean there are copies available the only issue is it's 400 USD before shipping, it's fucking ridiculous.
>>23433895There were Carnage Hearts garage kits, too. Obviously the prototype kits were made using Ma.K parts, but damn, i wish these were actual retail so i don't have to buy like 5 different kits to recreate them.
things are coming along nicely, still need to do some touch ups
>>23438549 nice anon honestly i've never painted the pilot figures myself because they seem easier to mess up
>>23442793thank you :)yeah it can be tricky, the way I do it is: paint everything with a basic skin tone; sometimes I add pink, hull red, or light skin tone depending on how dark or light I want it. then I paint the eyes and eyelids in a mix of hull red and pink and fill in the eyes themselves with light flesh or an off white. then I dot the eyes with the color I want using a toothpick just so I know where to paint them in with the brush. if you mess up it's easy to use the hull red/pink mix and side of your brush to fix any over spill. then it's just a matter of mixing basic skin tone, light skin tone, and pink to add in highlights. the really annoying part is the final step; glazing, as you can't even tell if you did anything until the 4th or 5th layer. this vid is of a bust but it's pretty helpful to get an idea of how to go about it. and if you ever don't like the face just use acrylic thinner to strip it. also if you don't care about re-priming the figure, use lacquer thinner or super glue debonder to strip everything.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FqMnxQ_DO9s
>>23446416
>>23443065this helped a lot actually holy shit
>>23451425lol glad it helped
>>23446416>>23446418I like it, more mechs should have huge appendages
>>23446418>that endorphin rush right after you spray everything with a primer coat and it stops looking like everyday items glued together and starts looking like a cool hard sci-fi suit with huge enhancement pack waiting for a dark dirty wash over everything.
>>23458173it's a really good feeling
WIP, not happy with the dark chipping, I hit places that make no sense and I should have thinned the dark paint way more. I'll go nuts with the oils to clean it up.Got some 1/35 gacha PKA H0s in the mail, might do a diorama with the 1/35 Artpla Kuster, which I plan to put a Flak 43 barrel on.>>23446416Looking great
>>23463829nice! I'm in the process of trying to fix my fireball, it's really rough right now. I kinda warped the plastic but I think I can salvage it. needless to say your build is looking really good right now.
i don't speak publisher does this mean they're getting translated into eigo
>>23472232ええそうです
>>23474206yay!
>>23463829Good progress.
>>23472232Yeah thanks to the faggot that runs Colony Drop.
First kit I've built for MK. I had fun building and painting it, except I gotta learn to fill the gaps between parts better. Only think I didn't like about the model is that the hips area felt thin and weak, but it's covered by the plates so it doesn't get seen.
>>23489244yeah parting lines are a big issue with ma.k. I find that scraping down the male connector and twirling a sharp hobby knife in the female end make the fit less tight. also milliput is your friend with these kits.really nice work though, I like the bluish green color you used.
>>23489674Thanks, I went with colors I'm more familiar with instead if the more realistic colors I see in other pics.Ill try filing the connectors down. I used milliput but I could see the gaps still. In another thread someone suggested "sprue goo" so ill try that too on the next kit I make.
>>23490989Forgot my pic
>>23490989>>23490995the color looks really cool, and ma.k doesn't have a set color palette. you can paint it anyway you want, it's really free form compared to other stuff.
>>23489244>>23489674I recommend the grey Tamiya filler putty and sanding sponge pads like these. They bend and conform to the part you're sanding so you don't wind up with flat spots when you're done. Also be liberal with your cement on the seams when you're first gluing them together.
>>23497789>Tamiya filler puttywhile I use the tamiya putty it's really tricky to get it to work correctly. what I usually do is mix it with extra thin cement and apply several layers until the parting line is no longer visible and then sand it. I just find milliput to be much better for large gaps. but yes sanding sponges are a staple I'm pretty sure almost every one uses them. although a wood working sanding sponge is a bit better imo, as the pad last way longer.
>>23490995Really like the teal.
>>23426290Neat, I had no idea. It's a damn shame the age of practical effects in film is over.
>>23508144yeah...
>>23433821>Hideo Kojima option partsNeat
>>23516584kek
>>23516584lmao
Sprayed some Mr. 1000 Surfacer on my Luna Gans after building and some seams are still peaking through. Can I sand Mr Surfacer without any issues? What grits should I use and should I wet sand?
>>23539455Bump.
>>23539455yeah it should be fine
WIP of my first Ma.K. model
