The Angel ostensibly appears very early on, as the deterioration affecting protein wall 87 within Central Dogma. And yet nobody goes on alert. It's just a malfunction, a small problem to be fixed by the next day so Gendo won't yell at you.But then the corrosion spreads. And still nobody raises an alarm. Hello??? How does "corrosion" actively spread? That doesn't make any sense. How could it leave the protein wall and affect other subsystems, including race towards the Pribnow Box, where the autopilot harmonic test is being conducted? The only thing deterioration should affect is protein wall 87. But despite general warning signs, with Rei's simulation body raising up to try and crush the observation box while Rei herself cries out in pain, Ritsuko doesn't run the blood analysis test until the Angel throws up an AT Field.Fuyutsuki is understandably pissed about the infiltration, but imagine if Iruel hadn't gone full infection and remained masquerading as a small, minor deterioration problem until it found a path that lead to the Magi. Shit would've gone even worse than the way it already did.

Urrrgh fuck I knew there was no way I'd hit the 30th anniversary on time with making a new translation. As it stands I'll only be starting work on it again after an extended break by the time the anniversary comes round. At least I'm more confident I can do a good job of it than I was a couple of years ago having taught myself more in the meantime. Did fan efforts to restore episode 16 ever get completed?
