Machu was a good idea for a character and I want to get her pregnant, but honestly no I don't think she was. Machu has a good baseplate that suffers from the show's short length. She's a good character in the sense that I could see her shining in something like a SRW entry due to having time to actually exist rather than getting dragged along by the plot just to get Luluco'd. Only character that felt like nothing was Shuji, he acted spacey for most of the show then suddenly was the final boss for reasons that were never really established. He was more plot device than character.
