This is one of the most disappointing direct spin offs i've seen. i was hoping it was a continuation of the first series. Fine, its not i'm cool with that but it never felt compelling in comparison to My hime. i can't understand how but My-Otome felt very flat somehow.
I guess its not that surprising a random spin off to an already niche anime might be mediocre. I only watched Mai-Hime and didnt end up liking it that much to begin with.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwt8VoSsmZMThe first opening doesn't have that much action, it's really the 2nd opening that tries to push it as an epic action show.Overall though, it feels like one of those shows where due to being part of an existing franchise they didn't think they needed a "hook" for the viewer, so they could go a bunch of episodes just building up to the story they wanted to tell, but without much to keep the viewer going along. Only, yeah, this isn't even a proper sequel, mostly reusing designs and names.
Worth it because Hisayuki finally got his waifu Rena to have a starring role. Also Sarah Gallagher for no real reason

was way better than My Hime and on the same level as Xenoglossia. All three of those were better than The Girl That Leapt Through Space, what an abomination that was. Hard to imagine that lackluster crew was able to make Cross Angel even if based Fukada was helming.
