That seems unusual.Can you name one other Gundam series, hell, one other mecha anime period, where the protagonist's name is never stated a single time in the first episode?
I honestly couldn't tell you. I saw the movie cut for the first leg of the show. The more I hear about it, the more it sounds like that was the intended way to view that portion of the story.

watched episode 1 and 2 tonight. Episode 1 I wasn't crazy about, it seems like it's made for zoomers, and I say that as a zoomer. Episode 2 was nice though. Gonna keep watching it. The mech designs grew on me as the episodes went on, though I still think the gundam has too much detail in the head.I kinda want to recommend it to my friend who only watched witch from mercury so he can finally get some exposure to UC, but also I feel like everything probably goes over your head if you're not familiar with MSG079. Also, I hope this isn't going to be more yurishit. Kind of got that impression in the first episode.

There was a lot in GQuuuuX that would have benefitted from the show having more than just 13 episodes in order to get proper exposition and whatnot.However, seeing as how it was made by the guy that made Neon Genesis Evangelion, there is a very high chance that more episodes would have just led to even more questions that will never be answered ever.

The other zakus have different weapons and shoulders, and a few other details slightly different... I haven't inspected the runners of the police zaku too closely but if one were to, they could probably spot the sections that will be swapped for the miltary pattern of zaku (and of course char's special red zaku that he abandons immediately)
