The show doesn't cave your skull in with the point that the Eva's Shinji's mom, but even he figured it out with no fanfare, so you were obviously supposed to just clue into it from a few hints. But this isn't stuff about characterization either.There surely have to be other examples though. It's not that subtle, complex, or divisive characters are inherently better, but I don't know why it's difficult to recall any.

>>23480694Its a movie you could tell was just starting halfway through a full story without even knowing that it was based on novels.Probably the most interesting part of the movie is the relationship icosahedron between all of the characters that blows up in the excellent final act. Everything leading up to the final act felt like trying to get the audience up to speed on things that would have been established maybe an entire movie ago that was in the first high streamer/beltorchika's children novel.
