>>23493775It's two pronged, a lot of follow the leader, lot of easy appeal, "oh wow that looks so cool" from the average guy. The other half is that artstation is about flexing your abilities, not actually making things that look good. These dudes are uploading renders of toasters with clear parts and carbon fiber and a dozen panels because they're basically just advertising their ability to cram in detail. So the artstation look is tacky, over-detailed, and missing the appeal of the original design. And then scraped by AI so they use a lot of it too. No big surprise it winds up in the whale market for thousand dollar art statues too.
