Just finished my second playthrough of SRW Y.I'll be totally honest about it: this game is very barebones with new stuff.I love the new presentation, writing team, general quality of the game...But man, come on.There was barely anything new in here at all. It doesn't take 4 years to make a new engine.The engine change was probably not that drastic either in terms of time spent to get it going since it can use pre-existing assets. I'm betting it just took 4-6 months for the engine change max.I really like Y but I can't really say I'm satisfied after such a long wait.

Even before the engine change they didn't really start making Y until after 30's expansion came out, which is a change compared to how 30 started development before T came out (steamdb at least puts 30 as first appearing on it on July 8th 2018), and despite releasing 30 in the west they never really advertised it or did anything with it, almost as if the decision came late, or was some sort of "since it's the last we might as well try". Terada even left after 30 so for all we know there was a time where no one was really interested in continuing the series. This isn't even the first time Bamco does it: Code Vein 2 appeared on steamdb in 2023, more than 3 years after the first one and the first CV was an unexpected hit so you would think some higher up would have pushed for a sequel fasterY prerelease was really weird: a faster pace of streams but still not many new things announced, still no western coverage outside of them slotting Y in their summer showcase at the last moment, when the steam page came out it had "denuvo anti-cheat" instead of anti-tamper, still no dlc date. It feels "rushed"Even the game feels a bit rushed, which is weird because the writing improved a lot after 30, and there are new assets, but Godzilla SP is a complete afterthought and calling what they did to WfM an "original story" is a joke. Dynazenon Relive in the end it's still a recolor and the amount of secrets is extremely small, with multiple units that feel like they would have been secrets under normal circumstances (Tarak, Gettersaurus, Pharact Michealis, Garuda, Messer, Keith and/or Bogue) especially after 30 with both Kagero and VictimAnd another thing, most returning characters with active VAs don't really have that many new lines. I'm not sure the MJP kids have anything new (outside of Suruga, and even him only has his 30 lines redone). Same for Dunbine, L-Gaim, and Gundam UCY is a weird game

The only person that can dodge somewhat reliably is Suzaku, and that's only if Chain of Command doesn't exist. The only way is final dodge stacking, basically.

Kira has the best MAP in the game which is worth a lot with how spammy some later maps are. Give him Pierce from a Supporter and he'll make the final stages so much easier. Heero's is good too and he comes with Pierce, plus it's less cumbersome to use, but 1-2 range instead of a radius of 4 is a big difference. The next best MAP looks to be Rose Gundam's targeted 2 radius, then it's some annoying ranking of all the various line AOEs.

In lategame I think it's the best one by a pretty considerable margin.Tyranado Rex is probably the least useful overall long-term, the protagonists have awkward spirit sets and it doesn't hit as hard as the Vangs. It does have an early MAP, though. It really needs Hit and Run, nearly all of its attacks are sniper moves.Tyranado is shit tier, don't bother with it unless you're farming Ace Bonuses on everyone.Cybuster is one of the dodgiest units around and Cyflash is as busted as always.

With a Range Extender he'd have one free Part to get another few hundred power, it's a pretty respectable attack for how spammable it is, being post-movement and also having decent range.
