Post stuff that's supposed to be in a design, but always gets forgotten in the toys. The ZZ is supposed to have cables on its neck to power the hi-mega cannon. Not a single model kit has these.
The Nu's fin funnels are supposed to have verniers on the base of the "prongs" and on the sides of the center section. I think the only toy to have these is the Metal Structure Nu, and it doesn't actually have the verniers, just outlines of where they would be.
>>23510409Also, the rectangles on the Nu's cheeks are supposed to be cameras, not verniers. I think recently more things have gotten this right, but you can still find plenty of things that line them black.
The Victory is supposed to be able to flip its shield generators forwards so it doesn't have to hold its arm at a weird angle to hold its shield in front of it. I believe the Robot Spirits toy is the only Victory toy to do this, all of the kits left it out.
The Zeta's v-fin is supposed to have a two-part transformation. Most stuff has the first bit, where the larger v folds together, but I don't know if anything has the second bit where the smaller v slides inwards.
it's less that they forget it, and more like there isn't a decent way to incorporate it into the neck ball jointe.g., I guess you could also complain that most if not all of the RX-78 plastic models don't feature a head hatch for reloading head vulcan ammo
>>23510400niiga I just checked my HGUC ZZ, the cables are there, just hardmolded into the neck piece.
>>23510449All you'd need to do is have some molded detail on the existing neck part.
>>23510420Probable because they'd be too small to properly mold in 1/144 or 1/100 (until the 2.0 came out.) The PG might have fixed this.
>>23510441Yep, just checked my PG Zeta, the inner fins don't move.
>>23510460Well damn, I stand corrected. Weird how the HGUC remembered but none of the MGs or RDs.
>>23510477I want to say the old 1.0 ZZ or FAZZ may have had them, but I no longer have that kit.
>>23510427The old 1/60 "High Grade" kit did this.
>>23510477Oh yeah, the manual even warns you to have the neck joint piece oriented with the molded pipes facing forward
>>23510481>>23510477Confirmed, the old MG ZZ from 1999 has the molded pipes as well.
>>23510481Looked it up on youtube and there they are. Looks like the vKa (and the old NGs but does that really count) is the one that leaves it out. And being fair(?) there, Katoki probably cared more about the FAZZ than the ZZ and the FAZZ canonically doesn't have those cables.
>>23510400Not a kit, but the ZZ Ka Signature has them
>>23510484I also don't recommend getting this ancient-ass kit as it has... many problems. I only kept the beam rifle and beam saber (incidentally I found out that 1/60 scale Gundam weapons are compatible with 1/6 scale Phichen dolls)
>>23510484Does it? It looks like the shield emitter can't rotate far enough to come up to the hand.
>>23510441>>23510476Neither does the newer MG Zeta Ver. Ka
>>23510523Yeah, probably can only go 90 degrees max, I haven't had the kit in over 10 years, I just remember it being terrible and not worth $60.
>>23510532Metal Build Zeta has both the inner and outer V-fins fold inward
>>23510400So what year is this illustration from? And who is it by and what is it in?
>I didn't watch any of the shows: the thread
>>23510561It's from the booklet that comes with the master grade ZZ Gundam released in 1999. Another page in the same booklet mentions at the bottom that the conceptual art is by Hajime Katoki.
>>23510597
>>23510420>OG Gundam's head got blown off>a torso camera like the Mk II>cheek cameras as well as head ones for some reasonAmuro really wanted more cameras huh
>>23510692>We'll put some on the skirt armor too, and on the feet, the finger tips, yes...>Amuro please it's 4am, come back to bed...>NOT NOW CHAN!>Amuro, you've already installed so many cameras, there's only enough room to put psychoframe around the cockpit now.>Of course, the cockpit! I'll have full 360 vision inside and out!
>>23510400it depends. Actually Katoki did that MG ZZ Ver 1.0, so he must have changed his mind on his update later on. Also the position of the Vulcans on the ZZ changes every 10 years depending on what mechanical design book you reference
>>23510427>>23510523uhh... .the MG Victory Gundam does it
>>23510788>>23510427spoiler: it doesnt work fully as the hand is too big and gets in the way of the shield but maybe if i push and adjust the hand it can do it fully
>>23510800Sigh. It's minor disappointing things like these where I guess they just couldn't spare a few millimeters for a popout or extending mechanism. Or hell, even just mold the beam shield effect with a longer peg base so it can stick out further and clear the hand,
>>23510597Okay so that has nothing to do with ZZ actually being illustrated in 1986, therefore OP is full of fanfic-grade shit.
>>23510714>I think I'm forgetting something...>Of course, the butt! What if Char comes at me from behind? I need a camera there too!>Amuro...
>>23510835Wisdom has been chasing you but you have always been faster
>>23510692>>23510714They hadn't figured out 360-degree gameras yet, please understand
>>23510951How the fuck do you think you get a 360 degree view
>>23510939Why the fuck was it designed that the head had to tilt backward in order to fire the vulcans straight ahead??
>>23510857>Amuro what's this one feed on your cameras? it's too dark to make anything out>that's the gopro I put inside my normal suit in case Char is planning on attacking from in there, I put a light in there but when I left it on it got hot and singed my nipple
>>23511154Aren't vulcans more for dealing with infantry and ground vehicles by that point in UC?
>>23511154Looks like the artist wasn't told that ZZ has head vulcans.
>>23511402Katoki gives it a proper design with vulcans.
>>23510857>Bright, Astonaige, Fraw, what's everyone doing here?>Amuro, we love you very much, but you have a problem.>You've blown so much money on cameras we had to downgrade the Hi-Nu to a Nu gundam.>We've had to put off the invasion of Axis by weeks because you keep modifying your gundam!>Don't you think you've attained enough visual fidelity?
AFAIK, the recent Moderoid was the first toy in all those decades that properly replicated Tekkaman Blade's toes.
>>23510714>>23510857>>23511167>>23511620All of this is amazing>we could have gotten a fully functioning Hi-Nu repaired, maybe even make a backup unit or a HWS variant>but that budget was spent entirely on cameras>even the verniers have cameras>even the SHIELD has cameras>the backup beam saber used to be a backup camera
>>23511620>>23511844>even QUATTRO is there for moral support because he wants a decent Nu Gundam deployed sooner for his assisted-suicide duel
>>23511318yes and no, they are mainly for that but can still fuck up lightly armored MS caught off guard and serve as a distraction by filling the air with vulcan cannon fire and striking the MS while it is busy dodging all of that
>>23511844>I recall one incident a few nights before the operation. Amuro had been confined to quarters, I stationed armed guards at his door and around the perimeter to detain him if he tried anything. >Sure enough, I wake up in the middle of the night to hear that he managed to escape; he had built a haro out of the components of the Honeywell air conditioner installed in his room and used it to take out the guards.>We finally managed to get into the hangar after he welded it shut to find Nu Gundam stripped to its inner moveable frame components, and the Jegan's heads hollowed out for spare parts, he was replacing the reactor with a sphere made entirely out of Anahein-Nikon Z9000s.>Thankfully, Char was still on board from the intervention we hosted the afternoon prior, so it was a simple measure to use the distilled horse tranquizer/ketamine epipens he keeps on him to get high at formal occasions and inject him before he got any further.>It took five men and four doses to finally bring him down. We made sure to tie him to his bed for the until the day of the mission.>It really was the best Harriet Tubman Day that any of use could remember.
>>23510493strangely enough, in GBO2 FAZZ does have the cables. Seems like a goof up though since they're definitely not supposed to be there
>>23512200Unicorn Bright looks like Fred from Scooby Doo
>>23510800It works on my MG V, but yeah you gotta position it right and it's just barely. The shield likes to pop off if you do it.
>>23510400Imagine being a Gundam fan artist and getting shit if you don't detail out what the official staff doesn't even know anymore
>>23511620>"Nu... it still uses the hyper bazooka, right? With shells of large circumference?">...>"Char will be fooled with these balloon launchers. He will think these are dummies, but there are actually cameras inside!">...>"Nu Gundam isn't just for show! With humanity's video capture potential, it's for recording the show!">...>"Okay Haro, no history trace mode, how do I use sturdy cameras as vulcan ammunition without the maintenance crew noticing?">>23511850>Char mothballs Nightingale production just to provide financial support at this point >he already assisted by providing the psychoframe, he fucking knows what he needs from Amuro>...>Amuro secretly scrapped the psychoframe just to install cameras around the cockpit in case of armor breach>nobody learns of this even after the Axis Shock
>>23511154What vulcans?
>>23512738There would always be a base design with this stuff and different illustrators would always have their own take which changed things in little ways, you can see things like this just in animation direction alone.
The most forgotten Zeta thing is the head goes into the tummy. https://youtu.be/7BBskDKtzZM
>>23512869>Char putting the finishing touches on his Nightingale, excited for his final climactic showdown >gets word from his contact in London bell Amuro was caught trying to replace the Hi-Nu's funnels with remote cameras shaped like Haro>sadly they were only able to salvage one wing and had to scramble to retrofit it>Char sighs and begins gussying up a Jagd Doga instead
I can think of the opposite. The 1/100 Sumo's chest can open up to show this giant elaborate port design, and it don't believe it even came up in the show.
>>23514005It's not the only case, acording to Mead's design the top part of the Turn A's shoulders can rotate forward and shoot beams, and it's never used in the show. And the chest cannon is used just once.
>>23514222Source on the shoulder beams?
>>23514288It's from one of his draft designs.>>23514222Technically the show didn't use Mead's design as-is. The cleanup designed for animation changed some of the features compared to Mead's concept art.
>>23511154>>23511402>>23511406Guys the Vulcans are on the cheeks not the forehead.
>>23514288>left shoulder turret firing
>>23514005lots of gunpla will invent gimmicks that weren't in the original
>>23514005That's a hell of a name. Also mentioned that it's armor is supposed to have a borg-like effect where it develops an immunity to attacks it receives that don't kill it outright, but the creators never got it working lol
>>23515934To be fair, that one is pretty fuckin rad
