Post stuff that's supposed to be in a design, but always gets forgotten in the toys.

The ZZ is supposed to have cables on its neck to power the hi-mega cannon. Not a single model kit has these.

The Nu's fin funnels are supposed to have verniers on the base of the "prongs" and on the sides of the center section. I think the only toy to have these is the Metal Structure Nu, and it doesn't actually have the verniers, just outlines of where they would be.

Also, the rectangles on the Nu's cheeks are supposed to be cameras, not verniers. I think recently more things have gotten this right, but you can still find plenty of things that line them black.

The Victory is supposed to be able to flip its shield generators forwards so it doesn't have to hold its arm at a weird angle to hold its shield in front of it. I believe the Robot Spirits toy is the only Victory toy to do this, all of the kits left it out.

The Zeta's v-fin is supposed to have a two-part transformation. Most stuff has the first bit, where the larger v folds together, but I don't know if anything has the second bit where the smaller v slides inwards.
>>
it's less that they forget it, and more like there isn't a decent way to incorporate it into the neck ball joint

e.g., I guess you could also complain that most if not all of the RX-78 plastic models don't feature a head hatch for reloading head vulcan ammo
>>
>>23510400
niiga I just checked my HGUC ZZ, the cables are there, just hardmolded into the neck piece.
>>
>>23510449
All you'd need to do is have some molded detail on the existing neck part.
>>
>>23510420
Probable because they'd be too small to properly mold in 1/144 or 1/100 (until the 2.0 came out.) The PG might have fixed this.
>>
>>23510441
Yep, just checked my PG Zeta, the inner fins don't move.
>>
>>23510460
Well damn, I stand corrected. Weird how the HGUC remembered but none of the MGs or RDs.
>>
>>23510477
I want to say the old 1.0 ZZ or FAZZ may have had them, but I no longer have that kit.
>>
>>23510427
The old 1/60 "High Grade" kit did this.

Looked it up on youtube and there they are. Looks like the vKa (and the old NGs but does that really count) is the one that leaves it out. And being fair(?) there, Katoki probably cared more about the FAZZ than the ZZ and the FAZZ canonically doesn't have those cables.

I also don't recommend getting this ancient-ass kit as it has... many problems. I only kept the beam rifle and beam saber (incidentally I found out that 1/60 scale Gundam weapons are compatible with 1/6 scale Phichen dolls)

It's from the booklet that comes with the master grade ZZ Gundam released in 1999. Another page in the same booklet mentions at the bottom that the conceptual art is by Hajime Katoki.

it depends. Actually Katoki did that MG ZZ Ver 1.0, so he must have changed his mind on his update later on. Also the position of the Vulcans on the ZZ changes every 10 years depending on what mechanical design book you reference

spoiler: it doesnt work fully as the hand is too big and gets in the way of the shield but maybe if i push and adjust the hand it can do it fully
>>
>>23510800
Sigh. It's minor disappointing things like these where I guess they just couldn't spare a few millimeters for a popout or extending mechanism. Or hell, even just mold the beam shield effect with a longer peg base so it can stick out further and clear the hand,
>>
>>23510597
Okay so that has nothing to do with ZZ actually being illustrated in 1986, therefore OP is full of fanfic-grade shit.

yes and no, they are mainly for that but can still fuck up lightly armored MS caught off guard and serve as a distraction by filling the air with vulcan cannon fire and striking the MS while it is busy dodging all of that
>>

>I recall one incident a few nights before the operation. Amuro had been confined to quarters, I stationed armed guards at his door and around the perimeter to detain him if he tried anything.
>Sure enough, I wake up in the middle of the night to hear that he managed to escape; he had built a haro out of the components of the Honeywell air conditioner installed in his room and used it to take out the guards.
>We finally managed to get into the hangar after he welded it shut to find Nu Gundam stripped to its inner moveable frame components, and the Jegan's heads hollowed out for spare parts, he was replacing the reactor with a sphere made entirely out of Anahein-Nikon Z9000s.
>Thankfully, Char was still on board from the intervention we hosted the afternoon prior, so it was a simple measure to use the distilled horse tranquizer/ketamine epipens he keeps on him to get high at formal occasions and inject him before he got any further.
>It took five men and four doses to finally bring him down. We made sure to tie him to his bed for the until the day of the mission.
>It really was the best Harriet Tubman Day that any of use could remember.

>>
>>23512738
There would always be a base design with this stuff and different illustrators would always have their own take which changed things in little ways, you can see things like this just in animation direction alone.

>Char sighs and begins gussying up a Jagd Doga instead
>>
I can think of the opposite. The 1/100 Sumo's chest can open up to show this giant elaborate port design, and it don't believe it even came up in the show.
>>
>>23514005
It's not the only case, acording to Mead's design the top part of the Turn A's shoulders can rotate forward and shoot beams, and it's never used in the show. And the chest cannon is used just once.
>>
>>23514222
Source on the shoulder beams?
>>
>>23514288
It's from one of his draft designs.

>>23514222
Technically the show didn't use Mead's design as-is. The cleanup designed for animation changed some of the features compared to Mead's concept art.

That's a hell of a name.

Also mentioned that it's armor is supposed to have a borg-like effect where it develops an immunity to attacks it receives that don't kill it outright, but the creators never got it working lol
