Did so few people buy this release that such a glaring mistake in the subtitles has apparently not been reported before, despite having released 6 years ago?
I received my copy of Discotek's Blu-ray release of the OVA a couple of days ago and this is something that stood out right away. Even though I didn't remember what the line of dialogue was supposed to be exactly, what was there clearly didn't belong. I don't know if there are any other similar issues since I haven't had the time to sit down to watch the whole thing, unfortunately.
My biggest question is why this seems to have gone unnoticed. I cannot find any information in forums or the like about anyone bringing this up, and even after getting in touch with costumer service, who then reached out to the team responsible for authoring the disks, I was told that there hasn't been a single report of any issues with the subtitles.
So what's the deal? Did no one buy this? Is everyone that did watching it dubbed and thus oblivious to it? Did my copy in specific get bombarded by sunspot radiation?

You posted all of that without clarifying what the problem is supposed to be.

This is what the subtitles should say.

sucks to be you, OP
>>
are the subs in the rest of the scene correct?
>>
>>23518966
I hear you, Satan.

>>23518974
Yes.

>Did no one buy this?
I tend to pick up most Discotek releases but I skipped it
have you found anything else weird?
>>
>>23518935
It wasn't really high on my priorities to get since I already had a DVD box set, honestly. Still, surely somebody here has their own copy to make sure it's not just an issue with how OP's disc was authored.
>>
>>23518980
Not so far, but I haven't had time to watch the whole thing.
I do think it was a dick move to only include the artwork postcards with a limited number of copies, though, considering what the set goes for.

That's what I'm hoping for, since I don't personally know anyone that I could ask, and reaching out to the company only created more questions.

What is he saying in Japanese tho
>>
I have a first batch disc with the art cards and he does say this there.

I bought their Giant Gorg DVD immediately when it was released many years ago and it had four typos within the first five episodes

Well, it's good to know this isn't the result of a cosmic anomaly fixated on me in particular, at least.
I was really surprised when they claimed no one's reported this before, considering how obvious it is..

>>23519842
I'm no stranger to having to put up with spelling (and even minor grammatical) errors with Blu-ray subtitles---even from 'boutique' labels like Criterion, Eureka and 88Films---but this is on another level.
>>
>>23518935
Doesn't everyone just watch this anime anytime it gets dumped at 1080p on YT?
>>
>>23519881
It's still there, actually.
>>
>>23519881
No. I watch in high quality on a big TV through a media center with my wife

That you can't find anybody else complaining about it online is pretty good evidence that nobody noticed it or bothered to complain.

It seems a bit like they made a mistake and copypasted a line meant for elsewhere in the script, which I've done myself while fooling around in Aegisub. I usually catch it immediately or while rewatching the thing I'm editing, but I can see how it might get missed if you're on a deadline.

So discotek is a trash company that can't do their jobs.
>>
>>23523292
It’s called human error, a slight oversight. Besides it’s been SIX YEARS since said release, it’s also been corrected since
>>
OK, so I finally had time to sit down and watch the rest of the episodes yesterday night.
As far as I was able to tell, there were no other mistakes of the same calibre anywhere else. When the scene inside the lab in question is revisited later on, the subtitles are actually correct.
In addition to the original issue, there were a couple of grammatical errors, but nothing too egregious. There might have been more in the subtitles during intros/previews/recaps, etc., but I generally skipped those.

>>23523331
>it’s also been corrected since
What? As I stated in the OP, I actually reached out to the company and exchanged messages with someone from the staff, and they claimed no one's ever reported such an issue, and made no mention regarding their becoming aware of it on their own.
