Outside of the visuals and setting this was kind of shit desu
pantsless catgirl tho
>>23525278sorry you're not good enough for it
>>23525278I liked Escaflowne. My only complain is that the love triangle subplot added nothing and it robbed us of more hot, steamy Guymelef action. Too bad Sunrise wanted so bad to capture the female audience.
>>23525412that's what my Ex said, but I'll prove you BOTH wrong
Yeah I was kinda surprised at how uninspred the actual plot and character writing was. Didn't leave much of an impression on me.
>>23525511God forbid something doesn't bend over backwards to cater to you and tries to be something different instead.
>>23525645>something different>Bad macross tier love triangle
>>23525278The MC was too passive and had fuckall to do. Wasted potential. >>23525645>>23525511I liked the love stuff, but the ending is atrocious for ruining it. What was even the point?
You don't have to use inflammatory bait to start threads anon we have like 5 people on at any given time. its not vThen again the last time I tried to make threads they all did before 10 posts and the necronbumper bumped them off the page. At least explain WHY you think its shit.
could have used more robot and less Maury but still pretty great
>>23525651Why do you...post like this?
For an anime wanted to hook shoujo audience in, escaflowne's ending wasn't even that shoujo. Usually writers would find a way so the main pairing would stay together in the end of most shoujo, well if they made their characters have romantic love for each other
>>23526642Yeah, it's pretty noticeable how every girl that got into Escaflowne was furious over that ending. They didn't even get to kiss, that's some shoujo blueballs right there.Like, yeah, it's a realistic way for it to end, but the audience doesn't care about that.
>>23526962>it's pretty noticeable how every girl that got into Escaflowne was furious over that endingSource?
>>23528224
>>23528224I can't think of any gals who finished complaining about how they disliked Hitomi in general for them to get around to complaining about the ending specifically
>>23528325the entire personality of every chick I know who liked Escaflowne could be distilled down to "tarot cards"
Grill here with other grills opinions and yes, most people hated the ending because it wasn't romantic enough.I'm okay with the ending, it fits the story and totally makes sense.
>>23528766kek true
>>23528224I’m currently rewatching it with my wife (I myself have seen it like 15 years ago). We haven’t reached the ending yet, but I don’t think the lack of kissing would bother her as much as how everything else is rushed and kind of stupid in the last act. I still remember how half assed the Durandel twist was in particular.I mainly agree with OP that it’s kinda meh overall, but the OST in particular is one of my all-time favorites
The main thing I remember about my experience watching this series was that you can really feel the point where they run out of source material to adapt and it loses the plot.
