Why hasn't anyone made an action game of this yet?

It might not be bad for a 2D arcade game you can finish in 30 minutes, I guess, but for the standard 3D DMC/GoW type action game you're probably thinking of? There's a good reason those usually have multiple weapons

Not to mention that TTGL gets by on how each scene is individually stylized. It's not near as cool when that has to be translated to canned game animations

And there's numerous methods of accomplishing similar stylization in a game format.

Consider, a mario odyssey style system where you can take over and merge with enemies. Between that and the progression of TTGL itself we have a constantly evolving moveset that's more than enough to keep a game interesting when paired with a good combat system. Bonus, it means you can repurpose all the enemy moves for the player and get twice the mileage out of your content.
Plus imagine getting to see/play all those what-ifs of Lagann merged with various ganmen.

Really if any /m/ franchise is "why hasn't anyone made an action game of this" material, it's Symphogear - it's filled with people cutting down hordes of enemies with stock footage special moves in a way that's perfect for a Musou or something.

If they did make a game of TTGL, I wouldnt play it becuase it would be impossible to capture the essence of the show. It was lightning in a bottle. The way to respect such works of art is leave them alone.
