Pretty meh episode desu. I don't like when Gozyuger wallows in passable mediocrity. Also the shit with GozyuTyranno was such artificial SNS buzz horsecrap.
Hopefully the ShiningKnife/SweetCake episode next week will be better.

I still like this show but this episode and the last one are easily the worsts episodes of the show, the really should have allowed Ryugi to remain outside of the team for much longer.
I'm surprised that I think currently me and other anon are the only people that actually like the show here, most people hate enough to not want to discuss it, to the point generals we're left to linger and now close on page 8 rather than 6, episode threads are usually made late and most of the discussion of Gozyuger in the general is about gossip. Boonboomger and Gozyuger might honestly be the two recent seasons that people here are most indifferent to.
I wonder how's the Japanese reception of the show and if GozyuUnicorn will die, it will be interesting to see a core ranger that isn't a 6th or extra to die permanently since it has been a while since it happened.

Gozyuger is sometimes really good, but most of the time it's just kinda boring. It's kinda frustrating honestly.

>Gozyuger is sometimes really good
Yeah, whenever the head writer isn't writing the episodes.
>>
>>23538607
Exactly, which is the funniest thing.
Akiko needs more sub-writing experience. Feels like she got this chief job because of nepotism.

The wedding episode and the first episode were amazing and this written by Akiko
But yeah all of the episode writers are way better than her, I think the only other seasons with a situation like this are Flashman and Magiranger

This was kinda non-sequitur.
Problem: Ryugi sees Tegasword is not invincible and out of desperation wants to keys to come together ASAP so Tegasword can be it's most powerful. Has to make it into a theatrical exit to satisfy his ego (the no one of the episode also having an ego problem).
Solution: Ryugi realizes his choice to defy his father is his own and decides to not submit to the fate his family decided for him (something he had already decided on...).

I'm also unclear on wether he cares about being a doctor or not. We never see him do more than walk down a hallway, and I can't tell if he just ran with the doctor persona to beat this episode's no-one or if it is actually another passion of his, and he was specifically feeling down because his dad is a prick.
His last two parter was so much better.

Why was Hoeru being such an unsupportive prick? We had no idea you could hijack rings with willpower before this episode so him acting like Ryugi betrayed the team by walking away after losing his ring makes no sence. We literally thought those were the rules.
>How dare you return to your normal life after I personally knocked you out of the ring game! I never want to see you again!
The fact that him being discouraging didn't even play into Ryugi getting his groove back also kind of removes any element of this being tough love. It just makes it retroactively seen like Hoeru didn't actually understand the significance of their last battle.
>>
>>23538850
Ryugi's sacrifice was pointless because Tyranno ring chose another user just after Ryugi lost. It was completely pointless
>>
>>23539296
Obviously. I wouldn't even call it a sacrafice, it was just theatrics to satisfy his ego, seeing himself as Tegasword's most devoted follower. But this conclusion didn't even really feel like it reflected on that. He didn't really get a lesson about ego, humility or learning to depend on his friends. He got a lesson about deciding his own future and standing up to his dad. Something we thought he was already over.
In fact he technically got exactly what he wanted when he picked the fight: the strongest contender currently has the most rings. So we essentially spent three episodes circumventing Ryugi just handing Hoeru some rings.
And the whole thing seems to have gone over Hoeru's head too.

How is the sentai battle is supposed to end? I mean, I thought it was a battle royale so he team will have to fight until the last man standing at the end but they decide to make an alliance to fight the No Ones. But after Ryugi lost, his ring just pick another user. When it's supposed to end? In Donbrothers, it makes sense that Onisister was replaced because the setting. It's mentioned that the battle will never truly end because human greed is endless and there have been multiple chosen ones before the Donbrothers started working as a team. But Gozyuger is going to a final conclusion. Akiko and the producer didn't plan this well
>>
>>23539338
Yeah at the very least the Gozyuger rings just recirculate, so I don't get how there's supposed to be a final battle with those rings just looking for new users when they lose.

Is Green going to remember this guy used to be his mailman or something?
The way he keeps inserting himself into people's pasts is borderline comical.

Obviously Rei operated Kinjiro's wife and let her die.

Since Donbrothers, sentai has adult normie following and it continued through King-ohger and Boonboomger. It's the first time a toku series has adult following since early heisei rider (not confuse adults with manchildren). Probably the producer wants to keep the trend with publicity stunts like this. Ironically, Gozyuger's biggest impact wasn't for the show itself but for the Maya Imamori and Kosuke Asai's scandal. They say there's no bad publicity

Genius

>>23539306
Yeah it's weird how no one got on him about being a drama queen or putting his own dignity before serving Tegasword.

I haven't watched an episode subbed since before mashiro joined
I just watch it live as it airs and that's it
>>
Rei and Kuon feel kinda redundant
>>
>>23539828
Feel the same. I know Rei isn't Rikuo's brother but their relationship is brotherly anyway. At least Rei can become a full-blown villain because he isn't related to Rikuo while Kuon is pretty much confirmed to redeem at the end even if he's sadistic and enjoy hurting Hoeru
>>
>>23538554
I like the show but compared to other reiwa sentais it does feel weak(outside of boonboomger) I would still say that the integration of the anniversary cameo is the best so far.
>>
>>23539931
Think I missed this part, I'll rewatch the episode!
>>
>>23539065
It feels like Hoeru is lashing out on Ryugi's being directionless (AKA no will of his own) after losing the ring. Both he and Rikuo were asking Ryugi to help them, not as a Ranger but as an actual doctor to win the Doctor Number One battle (just like that athletic meet with the kid) with Rikuo even mentioning that there are other possible victims to save. Hoeru is a "I'm a lone wolf and I do what I want" sort, more so when it was a really bad idea when he blindly followed Kuon. Throw in the whole "I thought your wish is to make the world a better place with TegaSword but you're letting Bridan won who temporarily won before (kinda happened once, resulting to Goode Burn)!?!" right after he was mulling over his win ("Is someone with no dreams/wishes take away the chance of someone else who does?")

...The problem is the episode doesn't really flesh out those details. Nor does it make any attempt to show what Hoeru's "The Ryugi I know is gone" line means other than the flat "He's a good guy who'll save people". It's like doing the motions for a drama.
>>
>All the B-plots tie into the silver eye dude
Neat, Rikuo really is the goat.
>>
>>23541772
How does Kinjiro's sub-plot tie in? Oh yeah, the writers forget he had one.
>>
>>23538549
Like with everything else about this show, Ryugi leaving felt rushed. And even in what should be an episode primarily about him regaining his resolve to fight, Rei steals the show because now we're getting into his storyline.
