transforming mecha peaked way too early
Transforming brought a new chapter to mecha anime that made the genre explode in popularity. The mecha genre might have died in the 80s if it didnt happen.
Transforming model kits always suck and it's why it never caught on with gundam. It's better with toys.

Macross is the only time transforming multi-mode mecha have been done right, every other series always kludges it so one mode looks brick ugly
