Holy fuck, this was bad. I had low expectations regarding the writing, but even the visuals were mediocre compared to Unicorn which came out prior to this.Atleast Loum Battle was nice.
>>23560088Either you're rage baiting people into talking about Gundam the Origin which is fake or you actually hated it and now you are looking for people to validate your opinion which is gayOP is fake and gay
>>23560088What specifically did you dislike about the writing? The retcons where the feddies had mechs prior to the war, except they're garbage and jobbed to the zeon aces?Char written to be a Mary Sue piloting the proto-guntank (exist cause of retcon lol) and taking out multiple other guntanks while in diapers? The lack of tension since the feds just get clubbed endlessly and the zeeks face no challenge whatsoever? Therefore making the series depend on nostalgia alone for entertainment?
>>23560088I think its great how Chars secretly the most important person in the UC. Him and the students effectively initiating the hostilities that are used as the casus belli for the war, him being the one to allow revil to escape, etc. He really didn't get to do much that effected the world in 0079 except kill kycilia. So it was a much needed boost to his character. They made Garma too gay tho. No way Origin Garma ever touched pussy.
>>23560381I just wanted to know why it looked so shit.
>>23560403>guntanksThey had guntanks which were basically just bigger tanks, not on the same level as a mobile suit. Minor retcon that really doesn't mean much, they could've easily been swapped out for regular tanks.Zeon gets a new type of weapon (zakus) so of course they can mop the floor with feddies now because this exact same thing happens in 0079 with the Gundam on the feddie side>Char taking out multiple guntanksHe's a newtype so of course he can do this while in diapers. Amuro does this to hundreds of enemies in the original as a 14 year old with no military training hopping in a mobile suit for the first time. You could say it's because the Gundam is just so good but then it comes back to the >zekes just get clubbed endlessly and the feds face no challenge whatsover?Sounds like "it's okay when the original old thing does it, I can look past it, but this new thing? bad writing"
Someone post Char's spicy shoulder please
>>23560630>Amuro does this to hundreds of enemiesAmuro got carried by the Gundam being able to tank any damage up until he met a Gouf. He barely knew what to do and had to flip through the manual in his first sorties. It wasn't until after weeks of constant battles that he started being a one man army.Char just got into something he should have no experience with and started blasting soldiers who kept missing the gigantic target all at the same time.>when the original old thing does itThe original old thing did not do it. Feds didn't have much of a presence (as a standing army) in the original until they got GMs and after that they traded rather evenly with Zeon suits.
>>23560698So the Gundam can just tank anything, even the Red Comet, but then the Gouf for some reason gives it trouble because it has an electric whip? But it doesn't matter because he wins anyway and continues to steamroll everything. A single 14 year old in a giant robot. But a kid taking out 3 other guntanks crosses the line? Most of its not very believable, but we suspend our disbelief because it's fiction and these are the protagonists
>>23560768Yes the point was that the Gundam was a near superweapon when it was deployed, also Amuro was a teenager, and a mechanical autists, not some snot nosed brat who hasn't gone through puberty and whose legs shouldn't be able to reach the peddles.
>>23560403I don't care much about mech retcons.Origin feels goofy. A bit of humour and slapstick is fine and even enhances the experience, but the OVA just doesn't stop making Dozle look like an idiot. Sayla, Ral and Hamon were the saving grace, they prevent it from being completely unwatchable.Episode 1 is probably the worst episode to start on, the recap at the start of next episode is unironically better. There's so much stuff that feels like a pulpy action movie instead of Gundam, which isn't necessarily bad, but it baffles me to see people unironically treat it as some serious political thriller or something.Origin, like most prequels and spin offs, tries to do callbacks, references and unnecessary connections that makes the world feel smaller. Yashima helping Mass move to Texas colony, Char going to work at Jaburo and meeting Lalah, WB crew being in the same class, Hitler line etc.Charma academy episode was great, except for the rebellion that is framed as the starting point of OYW, that was retarded.Somewhere in the middle I had a thought that Yas might be doing LOGH instead of Gundam and being really bad at it.Newtypism is barely focused upon, this in turn ends up hurting Kycilia 's character. The story frames her as a schemer who wants to prolong the war and might have been the reason for Sasro's death (poor dude barely got any screen time). Her role should have been given to Gihren, it makes more sense and gives a more compelling narrative.Operation British was devastating, the little segment of a couple in the colony enhanced it.I enjoyed the friendly rivalry between Tri stars and Char.
>>23560446Because bandai has been looking to replace drawn mecha with 3d for a while(for a number of reasons, including costs and the dwindling number of 2d animators who can into mecha.) And whatever studios japan uses for their 3d animation suck balls. Still better looking than hathaway's 3d though.
>>23560403>>23561190Regarding Char, he is such a non character for first two episodes. I would have liked more to see more of little Casval.I didn't mind original Char and Casval resemblance, but it should either have been a small plot point or explained in detail. It ends up in the middle where Char seems like a psychopath for screwing over a boy he knew and lived with for some time.Char here is just so bland, he doesn't screw up much, barely gives any intresting quotes and is less introspective. The attempts to make him feel threatening falls flat on face and ends up feeling like some parody. Somebody described Origin as a fabricated story with some truth narrated by Quattro to Kamille on one long day at Argama. I would agree, it's the only way to make sense of this mess.
