I don't get the ending of Blue Gender.

What am I missing?
>>
>>23562639
Blue Gender went to shit after they got to space.
>>
>>23562639
Pretty standard anarcho-primitivism hippie bullshit that says it's good for 99% of the population to die horribly so the rest of us can die at 30 from dysentery or tetanus that was super common in Japanese media of the late 90s to early 00's.
>>
>>23562718
But that's correct. 99% of people are wastes of space, including you and me.
>>
>>23562639
Getting everybody to live dick-to-butt in a small space station with no privacy and constant orgies will make you go insane.
>>
Why didn't they just nuke the blue nests from orbit?
>>
A brain.
>>
>>23562639
you will find the answer here https://desuarchive.org occasionally this question gets asked, but the answer is so bland or convoluted that I can't remember.

I think it is a "love conquers all" ending. it has some parellels to Zardoz.
>>
>>23562718
Corporatism is evil and humanity is genuinely doomed until we kill every last proponent of capitalism, etc. but god it's so fucking tiresome seeing storytellers whose response to this is
>"Every single human must fucking die, we all deserve to die to satisfy my suicidal lack of self-satisfaction, it's all your fault I'm not happy in this modern world so everyone but me needs to be fucking eaten by aliens while I imagine my private paradise"
>>
>>23563988

The blue aren’t aliens. they’re lab animals injected with B cells.
>>
>>23563477

>lets turn the earth into a radioactive wasteland where we can't live
>>
>>23562639
There are only two genders
What is this about a blue gender?
>>

>it's so fucking tiresome seeing storytellers whose response to this is

Agreed. The problem are rich hidden organizations/oligarchs that's always fucking everything up. Not really human nature.
>>
>>
>>23567980
you have never visited a poor area or country in your life. Rich people are just as awful as poor people.
>>
>>23567993
Wrong, the poor are worse.

>>23562639
>melee mech
>takes two to operate, one driver and one attacker
>humans kill themselves into extinction

maybe the bugs were the good guys all along
>>
>>23562698
Pretty much. The survival-horror with mechs part was the best part. It seems like a lot of Japanese writers of the old generation abandoned the plot in the third act to make some kind of grand yet vaguely executed statement. Miyazaki made an entire career out of it.

>99%
Most of you just weren't raised correctly. For a plethora of reasons this civilization is currently very inefficiently situated to fully utilize each soul. But it is very efficiently situated to capitalistically meat grind each soul as a biorobot/fleshslave. The era before the space expansion industry fully establishes seems hardest. Everything is being prepped for spread to distant solar systems, meaning there will be a constant moral conundrum of making the hard choice of choosing to invest energy in people, or in accelerating that industrial advancement. The key is balancing both and seeing the patterns in which both are mutually beneficial and simultaneous so that they can increase hand in hand - an example would be forcing everyone to become an expert in the fields of engineering. If that seems naive or improbable to any of you, well, you're a part of the problem. Maybe 20 to 5% are wastes, largely because of inherited disease, but even that can be shrunk to almost nothing with genetic engineering and appropriate incentives.

I know you all like to joke that "those aren't invading migrant hordes!! those are doctors and lawyers!!" etc., and I get what you mean, but the truth is the proper infrastructure to FORCE each and every soul to become an engineer is hardly in place. BUT, if you can be FORCED to work minimum wage as a burger flipping biobot, you can be forced into a benevolent world spanning military industrial complex designed to turn even the stinkiest tard into a space faring engineer-warrior-philosopher. Many gifted beings are just far more comfortable enjoying the fruits of their natural genetic superiority/nepobabytism and are understandably apprehensive about teaching valued skills to their replacements. Too lazy or fearful to teach and transform everyone into a space marine. If every savant were all forced to teach every child they can, and each child fully receptive, the planet would entirely transform within just a couple years.

>Corporatism
Corporatism and the corporations that compose it are merely a highly efficient organization of energy, a needed construct unless you believe turning the entire human species into a hivemind is preferable. Just because some spoiled brat CEOs give their entire corporation a bad reputation doesn't mean capitalism is a failure. Despite my above wishful 40Kish god emperor fantasizations, heroism doesn't pay the bills, unless you can figure out a way to turn karma into a currency, and the main hunger for mortals will remain as 'putting food on the table', requiring exchanges of goods and services.
>>
>>23568171
Corporatism does not mean capitalist corporations running things. The word you want is corporatocracy. Corporatism is like a republic but instead of general elections everyone belongs to a union that represents their industry or similar interest group and these unions send representatives to the voting government body. See also syndicalism and anarcho-syndicalism.

Wrong, the rich are WORSE. They exploit both the working class & the poor. Always has been throughout history.

The ending is basically the Blue just backing off and Yuji realizing how he can live well on earth.

For further context the show is just dipped in the nature purist scare juice. The earth made the Blue because it started viewing Humanity as a threat because of their urbanization and tech. Yuji because he has B-Cells was able to interface with its will at the end where he understands through imagery that it was aiming to get humans away from technologically advanced lifestyles. Proven by how all areas the blue infected in his vision are how I described but the shitty ooga booga village with straw houses is fine with those kids running around playfully.

The space station which gets destroyed at the end was the lifestyle the will SEETHED about which is why when its gone those pillars appear because it had a huge victory.
>>
>>23570424

Why would the earth be mad about humanity fucking off to space?
>>
>>23571955
Because tech-seething nature purists, in many cases, are less concerned with the welfare of Earth than the rejection of a lifestyle they're unsuited for. They hate the stress of modern life and idealize a more "rustic" kind of living - it's not what's got them losing sleep trying to keep a roof over their heads, so surely it was purer, easier, and what we're *meant* to be doing.
>>
I think the ending is just Yuji speaking with the planet's will and perhaps finding some kind of answer. The Blue, having fulfilled their purpose, were already returning to the planet before Yuji spoke, so I don't think that was because of his actions, but perhaps the Blue will not so easily return with Yuji and the others able to speak, understand and ultimately coexist with the planet.
>>
I remember seeing Blue Gender on Netflix, and thinking
>oh cool an oscure mech anime from the 90s to watch
then realizing it is a gory horror anime.

not fun, I was expecting something like G Gundam. Watched the first episode with my younger siblings
>>
>muh human bad
just stupid 90s thing, skip and watch anything else
>>
What I want to know is why do the blue have mouths that look like vaginas?
>>
>>23566731
Do an uncensored internet search for "Blue Boy" to see half the story, anon.
>>
>>23581098
No thanks fed.
>>
Why didn't this show just end with the second to last episode? Space humans choosing to live in space in peace while Yuji and friends live on Earth is a pretty satisfactory ending.
>>
>>23562639
maybe the real bugs were the friends we made along the way
>>
>>23566309
modern fusion weapons are pretty clean actually. there's very little fallout except for a deliberate ground burst
>>
>>23585116
Because its a story and technology is the bad guy. Every writer wants to kill the bad guy at the end.

no shit smartypants. being raised correctly is being raised by billionaires private tutoring you with different experts like you're a nobility, and then financially and socially supporting you far and wide.
bro I don't care about you not caring about my suffering and ignoring your own for the sake of a "promising" "meaningful" narrative. neither of us have the lifespan potential to live to the supposedly certain spacefaring utopia times even if everything suddenly started working towards it today. moreover yesterday the today was predicted to have zero issues. historically there can't be a nice near-utopian (where people are treated better than circus livestock) baby-boom period anywhere without a big very war first
the today is that both you and the important migrant are seen as cattle that are to bite into each other throats in competition for who boosts the numbers of economy and productivity metrics better while not exhibiting concerning social behavior. we're in the countless unemployed engineers times and not just sone india tier engineers. that's what you're excusing.
99% die off is a nice way to reduce the insane machinistic competition but tomino of back then didn't get it that the benefits of whatever he thinks is good are only aesthetically pleasing for the impressionable people, and there's no way out in the long term
