Can you just stop being a sperg? We rejected Caphi trying to rename Shin Getter as "Omega Getter", and we'll reject you too.
>>23577432It's literally on Web Archive for free
>>23577455wasn't my call, the translator threatened to pull out if i didn't let him spell it like that. that's what that whole blog post is about, and why we have two sub tracks.
>>23577460>the translator threatened to pull out if i didn't let him spell it like that
>>23577455Tell the Japanese to stop being spergs then. The TL got this spelling from Japanese sources, it didn't just occur to him as a better romanization. The English name devised by the staff is Leechers Army Merowlink, all merch and even signs in the show spell the name as Merowlink. The only people renaming anything are the guys who wrote that one fanzine in the 80s that spelled it Mellowlink that the entire English world got the name from.
>>23577460Why in the unholy fuck would you work with a manchild like that? You seriously couldn't just say "shut the fuck up that's retarded"?
>>23577527Because there's very few fansubbers out there. Here's another question: Can you confirm that the autistic translator did this by himself, and didn't use any AIslop methods as a shortcut?
>>23577460That's pathetic, you are a joke
>>23577527Of all of the absurdly petty and autistic things a translator could get hung up on, this is honestly not so bad (relatively easy to put a second version out with the more common rendering of the name, as opposed to some guy getting a bug up his ass about the actual substance or meaning of stuff in the script)
>>23577540"Omega Getter" is pretty fucking bad because not only is it completely OBJECTIVELY wrong but it's not even an accepted term anywhere. It might be a small thing but it's indicative of a way bigger problem.
>>23577541Oh yeah, no, that one specifically's fucking egregious, I'm only being charitable here over Mellowlink/Merowlink
>>23577432more dendoh when
>>23577527>>23577532>>23577539the translator is the same translator doing ippatsuman, he does good work, hence why we couldn't drop him from this project that he started over some naming autism. i don't know why everyone's freaking out now when this has been the case for the previous two batches as well, ironically i predicted all of this drama and tried to use it as an argument for why we shouldn't die on the merowlink hill, but i obviously got ignored. i offered to compromise and call it Marrowlink, but honestly that'd just make more people mad, this is obviously very contentious.>>23577554lexi finally finished translation back in august, star has two eps to edit as of today, and right now none of it has been qc'd. i wouldn't expect anything before next year, unfortunately. don't count out a christmas release though.
>>23577455>>23577532I've talked to the TL about this and heard his reasoning first hand. I was skeptical of it, but he's absolutely correct in that this is the proper spelling as intended by the original creators. Both soundtrack albums have the name in English letters, as "Leechers Army Merowlink"https://vgmdb.net/album/52641https://vgmdb.net/album/52613The official Japanese Votoms website spells it as thathttps://www.votoms.net/about/05.phpThe Takara Tomy "Leechers Army Merowlink with Action Bike" action figure spells it like that https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c1171497653JP Wikipedia has the Leechers Army Merowlink name, with a note that Armor Hunter is a more direct translationhttps://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%A9%9F%E7%94%B2%E7%8C%9F%E5%85%B5%E3%83%A1%E3%83%AD%E3%82%A6%E3%83%AA%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AF#%E7%94%A8%E8%AA%9EEven his dogtag in the animation spells out "Merowlink" in Astragius alphabet (aka Latin letters but weird) - picrelYou can find this spelling weird because the English speaking world has been using Mellowlink for over 3 decades now, but it's how it's spelled in Japanese sources, and I'm not currently aware of any other Sunrise IPs where an official spelling like this is not used, even when the JP part of the name is completely different. For an analogy, imagine for a second that someone called Evangelion "Ebangerion" in a fan magazine and people ran with it, never having seen the show. Would the guy insisting on "Evangelion" be the sperg? No, he has plenty of sources, including the show and a slew of official material, to prove him right.
Write all the cope you want, its still pathetic

>>23577460Is that Jenny or someone else? You need some quality control, man
>>23577581Some companies have been known to be inconsistent though, especially with romanizations and style guides. Certainly doesn't help the confusion.
>>23577432Enjoyed your batches when I realized that the other one stopped subbing the episode previews, but watched the rest of the previews with foreign subs because I couldn't wait. Thank you for the release regardless, I'm glad there's both options for the name, I get his reasoning for sticking with the weirder name that existed in other works, but am grateful that we have an option for the more natural-sounding Mellow also.>why do you care about the episode previews so muchBecause a friend is narrating it, and I feel it's important to the show because it's essentially his monologue on what Mellow's about to deal with next>mfw 0 posts about the actual plot or finale
>>23577465It's Merowlink.
>>23577606>says 'mech' instead of 'mecha'
>>23577460You'd get a better response to this if you just said that's what the name is, and not bring in the translator throwing a fit over it. It sounds like even you weren't convinced.
>>23578153>You'd get a better response to this if you just said that's what the name is>It sounds like even you weren't convinced. He all but spelled it out, but didn't want to lose the otherwise decent translator. So there's the subtitles with the strange name, and an included set of subtitles that has the horrible fake and wrong name that the guy hates. I think that's a pretty small compromise, we got better subs and just have to make two mouse clicks per episode (I don't know how to change the settings on MPC)
>>23578153>>23578181darkcart's ability to communicate in the most destructive way possible is honestly amazing.
Ask your translator buddy if he's willing to do Trider G7.
>>23577970tourist detected
>>23577432Why should I watch this over the regular sub
>>23578690The episode previews are all subbed, for oneI think it was also more accurate
>>23578511LMAO speak for your fucking self
OP is your friend will to do Vifam 13? Balatach? Godam? Mighty Jack? Mach Baron? Those are all things worth a shot at subbing. Granzort is probably never going to be finished from GANGO so that's worth a shot (plus Granzort is a much better version of Rayearth).>>23578256That's been subbed.
>>23578766If his friend is someone besides Aku, there's a likelier chance, fingers crossed.
>>23578766No it isn't. ARR aren't a sub group, they're a prank on /m/'s standards for fansubs.
>>23578762i'm sorry anon but you don't even know what the name of the board means, you're not one of us
lol I had completely forgotten about the autism surrounding this translation for mellowlink. I see nothing has changed
>>23579485Checkfuckingmate.
