What does /m/ think of Yasuko Kobayashi as a writer?
Nearly a 50/50 split between slop and masterpiece. It's uncanny, really.
>>23579812dumb zoomer
>>23579652The vast majority of her original works or reboots are amazing, she's my personal favorite tokusatsu writer
>>23579652The Sailor Moon pic is wrong, she wrote for PGSM toku that had the twist of Princess Serenity genociding the Moon Kingdom and so Usagi got a deadly power-up of her Princess side taking over and did so to the Earth too (it got better). She definitely liked the idea of "what if the heroine was truly her worst enemy".
>>23579652Either abomination or masterpiece with no inbetween.
I liked Casshern Sins and Shinkengers, Stone Ocean got fucked over by shitflix but I liked parts 1-5
>>23579923That's Toshiki Inoue and Sho Aikawa thoughLike really wether it's original or an adaptation she's usually great and when it has a setback it's usually someone's else fault like in Shakugan No Shana, Amazons S2, Gingaman and Stone OceanThe only time I felt the issues were her fault was for the adaptation of Yume Tsukai
>>23579652I actually really don't like how she sees super heroes. I generally like her character drama, but when she gets into nature of heroes and such, I don't care for it at all. She seems to see them basically like external elements that can't influence the world in a positive way, which to me makes the whole concept feels really pointless, if the monsters they fight are considered something completely separate from the "real" world and they wouldn't help in other situations.Even though this wasn't addressed directly, it's probably why in Sailor Moon she made Princess Serenity evil. Also never could find her writing very funny. She butchered the adaptation of one of my favorite Keroro manga chapters (The Keroro/Natsumi bodyswitch) and the anime original Doremi-like story she wrote for the 2nd part of the episode afterwards also wasn't funny at all.And although I enjoyed Den-O initially I actually didn't care for it in later episodes where there was more screentime with the Imagins in humorous bickering among themselves in the Denliner. Most of those scenes just didn't work for me.
