Happy 80th birthday, Wakamoto.
This pic is missing Shapiro which was the role that him really popular, still think it’s one of his best performances
What are your favorite and least favorite Wakamoto roles?
Man, for a second I thought it was going to say he had died>>23580385
>>23580389>Cell>Chiyo's dad>Fucking High MaxNice
>>23580385These kinds of charts are always done by casuals
>>23580403That god complex really sold it for me>>23580402And Black skull, even Edwin black who I keep forgetting he voiced lol
One of Wakamoto's non-villain roles.
>>23580406
>>23580389really liked him as Reuenthal.
>>23580407That and Coach from Gunbuster.
>>23580427He did a lot of bit parts for MIC too as well as being Hiro Rando in Acrobunch.
Apparently he also voiced this guy.
>>23580389He’s great in all of these that I’ve seen, but I’ll highlight his role as Rain Spider(Amagumo as the picture says) in Desert Punk because that anime isn’t talked about too much nowadays, and he’s one of the better parts about it.
It's insane that this guy is still doing work. Hope he is doing well and we don't lose him any time soon.
>>23580570iirc he’s semi-retired and only still does legacy rolls
>>23580607He just did a dwarf in the wizardry gacha a couple months ago.
>>23580607I thought I read somewhere he was only going to do one role per year which is why he didn't return for Bison in SF6. Funny thing is his replacement voiced Bison in the Japanese dub of Wreck-it Ralph.
>>23580378When did he play Raoh? He's also the voice of /ourguy/
>>23580679Flashback in Episode 32.
>>23580378>RaOhHe only voiced him in the early episodes when his face wasnt fully revealed yet.
>>23580389Taisou and Ryuusaku from Giant Robo/Tetsujin 28. They're pretty much the same character+voice, though you can tell Wakamoto's voice strains a bit trying to redo the Taisou voice when he was in his late 50s irl during 2004.
>>23580389Taiso for sure. Anything back from when he used to actually actLeast iavorite is everything aiter he stopped bothering
>>23580378HAPPY BIRTHDAY KING
>>23581477I recall Ryu was deeper than Taiso
>>23580389>Castlevania's Dracula>Alexander AndersonThat's both fitting and ironic at the same time. Also...>motherfucking VictoreamCATCHMYHEARTV E R YM E L O N
>>23580378>chiyo's dadBased.
>>23580378Happy 80th, Wakamoto-san.>>23580389Is there even a bad role in his career? I like all of his features and he elevated them, in my opinion. My favorite are him doing incidental, background voicework in several Dunbine episodes. Also Vega/M. Bison and Coach in Gunbuster.

I understand why no one includes the Wills from Dancouga Nova, but he knocked it out of the park arguing with himself.
>>23582847Joji Nakuta, who voiced Hellsing's Alucard, also voiced Dracula in Castlevania Judgment. And Ryotaro Okiayu went from Alucard in SOTN to Trevor in the Netflix show.
>>23580389>FavoriteOskar Von Reuenthal, Cell, Kim Yongbi, ChuLeast FavoriteCharles, Coachie/Kouchiro (Gunbuster), Azumanga Daioh I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack for Daioh but his voice sounds too graining. It's nice. But unfitting. He's better off voicing more slim, gaunt characters like Reuenthal or Cell. His Chu voice is good but largely outperformed by the dub.Coachie and Charles are among his voices that haven't aged well. I can't picture him voicing the two and I would say that a better voice for Charles would be someone more larger and broader like Daisuke Gori.
