This shit filtered me hard.
you weren't filtered. it's just bad.
>>23586188How far did you get? If by the time ID first appears and drops a battleship on bart and co you are not feeling it, yeah you won't like the rest. Not like the combat in particular ever gets better or anything, and i will conceede the second disc is just a summary of what should be happening, but i still like it a lot.
>>23586188I got filtered by the first rocket punch boss for days until I accidentally did defeated him somehow. All went like an easy slog since then.Anyhow the novelty of the combo system it has wears off exponentially since halfway into the game. It also doesn't help that some late game maps are designed to make you get lost while flipping switches. The writer got too high on his surface understanding of depth psychology and alchemy to realize the ending isn't interesting or satisfying for the crap you had to get through to finish the game. All the mecha fanservice is superb though.
>>23586336>How far did you get?A little bit after the shitty tournament to save the dumb princess, I can't even recall what happens afterwards.
>>23586347>The writer got too high on his surface understanding of depth psychology and alchemy to realize the ending isn't interesting or satisfying for the crap you had to get through to finish the gamI loved it >>23587891but maybe if disc 2 was an actual game the pacing would be better and you'd feel a differently.
>>23586188I can understand no remake (sort of) but how has this not gotten the typical Switch port with a bunch of quality of life stuff that so many PS1 RPGs got
>>23586188I got filtered by the second disk. That was way too boring.
>>23586347>I got filtered by the first rocket punch boss for days until I accidentally did defeated him somehowThat's because if you don't upgrade your engines to get more output you basically do no damage to him outside of your strongest attacks but since the fuel is the same and the game doesn't explain how output works some people don't bother to get the engines.
>>23588304Since it's owned by square still, I'd assume they loath it and want to bury it. It's actually kind of amazing it got into the list of ps1 games you could download for the psp.
>>23588338The second disk is the best part>>23589075Not the case at all, they keep releasing figures of the characters and mechs and featuring the OST everywhere.
I've tried to get into it 3 times and yeah each time filtered me hard.Sometimes it's "what the fuck are these people even talking about" and sometimes its "god this gameplay fucking sucks". Usually I can stand one or the other but both of the same time is usually no fun.
>>23589226Go read up on Gnosticism and you will get the entire plot.
>>23589256It's less I don't get the "plot" but more the situation, and what the fuck is happening right now. It's the same whole /m/ thing where they throw you kinda in media res and you're left going like who tf is this guy who tf is that guy and I get it WILL answer it eventually but with shows I can just power through and see what happens. XG gameplay though is so fucking ass that even speeding through the garbage ass battle system and map navigation, it's still not to a point where I'm "okay I'm starting to get shit."
