I know this board loves Getter manga, but what's your honest opinion on Toei's Getter, considering it's different?

>>23591722Gave both series a 10/10, they are classic super robot series. The original series had a better ending theme and villains while G had better animation and fights. The only Getter entry that didn't get a perfect score from me was Shin vs. Neo, but that was just a four part OVA so that makes sense and most 70s mecha titles get an 8/10 out of me so take that for what you will. If OP wants I can list all the 70s anime I gave a 10/10 from best to worst.

>>23591722It's a lot more monster of the week but it's still a pretty fun show despite some of Toei's meddling in the back half [the show getting a Boss clone, absolutely RUINING Musashi's death by almost framing it as a joke, etc.] Also, the mooks were adorable and got some weirdly brutal deaths at times.

Also Yura the great was dead weight to the overall plot, he only existed as a bigger bad that accounted to nothing. I think what they should’ve done was have him fight getter robo after being tricked by Gore and then have him use the invincible fortress that leads up to musashi’s sacrifice manga style. Also the Boss clone flat out vanishes after the pool episode in Getter G

It's fine. I haven't seen G all the way through. Kind of surprised how much I DON'T like Benkei give all the alternate versions I do.

>>23591927Musashi has a better animated death in the Getter G vs Great Mazinger movie, but even there where he insists on fighting to the last moment, unlike Ryo and Hayato who want to retreat, in the last moment when he's actually dying they give him a panicked face, which kind of hurts it compared to the manga's.
I actually love Musashi's death in the anime. The music with how the villains reacting before dying was epic
Musashi's death in the anime feels more tragic because you see him throw off his helmet and sword but promise to come back despite how hopeless the situation is.
