After seeing this for the first time i finally realized that the message was that Treize and his suicidal faction was the same as the foundation and the dolls. Also that Heero Yui was right when he said that the only enemy is the one who tries to threaten him. In the episode where both factions were fighting over the city who chose peace the old man said that there were no difference between the factions and he wished that both of them died and it is absolutely true. Treize is a larping asshole who only survived encounters with the MCs because they were true warriors who know nothing else, but if they were replaced by one of those "cowards" as he calls the people who don't want to get into his stupid larp then he would have been dead for quite a while now. They keep talking about how humans are their best when fighting in this series but the only thing i see is a bunch of retards scared to say no. At least the dolls can"t say no.

Over the events of the series he rebukes Une for her cruelty and quickness to put innocents in harms way to achieve her goals quickly, and is impressed by Wufei and Trowa for honoring the terms of their duel. He has a falling out with the Romefellers because he naively thought they all weren't larping, but the second their coup succeeds and they have the ability to do so, they begin producing mobile dolls and start extracting the humanity from warfare which leads to a rapid uncontrolled escalation in fighting. Every random oz lieutenant can now bring dozens of MS to bear unquestionably on whatever bone headed plan they come up with. Which leads to the colonies arming themselves openly as a result. Fast forward to the last chunk of the show Treize sees that mankind is ready to not only reject the Romefellers view of conflict but also his own. It's implied that even he sees the value in a future without war because he builds the Epyon to basically be a wicker man of all of his and Ozs sins. In the end he ousts relena in order to keep her idealist image untarnished and preps to die in a valiant noble final charge against Zechs in order to free the world from people like themselves. I dont think he intentionally kills himself against Wufei I think Wufei is just genuinely such a good MS pilot that Treize never stood a chance. They just swapped preferred methods for their duel as Treize had promised to do earlier.
I feel as though you give the series too much credit. After Treize has a falling out with Romefeller and realizes he cant have his shitty noble war through OZ he is then portrayed as a secret mastermind character that was secretly planning for peace all along and all of his shitty actions are redeemed as justified. Everyone in Endless Waltz speaks of this faggot as a hero messiah even though all he did was give up and do the next best thing when his initial morally degenerate ambition didnt pan out, just because he did something not retarded at the very end. Also no his last fight with Wufei is clearly meant to portray him holding back because the writers couldnt resist jerking him off more before giving him his noble death and going along with pro-war rhetoric.
