Personally I'm just sick of every spinoff zeon character being the same noble knight with a heart of gold fighting for his ideals. I'd prefer for them to just be an evil shithead sometime. It's like the anime all get char clones and manga/games all get ramba clones.

The 'everyone needs to live in space' and the 'Earthnoids get special treatment' ideas as well as a general anti Federation sentiment makes a degree sense from the perspective of a civilization displaced people united by the fact they were forced into space as their commonality. 'If we had to go into space for the sake of the Earth why not you' type idea. A sort of original sin of the Federation and the Universal Century regardless of the material living conditions.
