>>23609019Neat.
>>23609019Awesome. Thanks as always, champ.
>>23609019>it keeps happeningYes!!!!!!!!!!!!>that coverHoly shitAnd so our Great has blue limbs and the MP ones are black-limbed and flightless, right?
Next volume will see the deubts of Marquis Janus, Marshall Hell, & Jun in a fur loincloth with her titties out.
>>23609019>segmented scramble dashwhy though
appreciate the work as always i'll get to this when im done with Gosaku Ota Mazinger Z first. I read his version of Grendizer and it was pretty cool.
Why did you upload them to Mangadex and not to a MEGAYou know they can become massive pussies at any moment and delete everything.
thank you mazinchad
>>23609019Would it be helpful if I translate the text for you? I'm a native speaker and can translate the text easily, I just don't know how to overlay the text cleanly.I can either dictate it to you over voice, or write it out. Let me know if it would save you time or not.
>>23609251I actually do have both Z & Great on MEGAs.https://mega.nz/folder/NXlAjYCY#ldtE-XuqsFVhB1XSGfuHWAhttps://mega.nz/folder/QHcRkYxA#IC_0kSOsXNZesNkqxra1twLemme know if you want 'em for any of the other manga I've done.
>>23609569Have you giving the Ultraman general MEGAs for the Ultraman stuff you've translated?
>>23609398That sure sounds enticing, so much so that it's making me willing, perhaps gullibly, to take an anon at their word. Thing is, how exactly am I supposed to contact you or have you contact me & be sure that it's actually you & not someone fucking with me?
>>23609572Here's Daiji Kazumine's Ultraman.https://mega.nz/folder/0KlSSKRa#_-o8lDLtqm27S50-qKUynQ& Kazuo Umezu's Ultraman.https://mega.nz/folder/oStA2RxT#eR3tHlQEuq9o1Wq5eDEZJAFeel free to repost those to the Ultraman general.
Recently learned about this original Ota manga from the late 70's called Mach SOS, about a team of young fighter jet pilots. I've heard very good things about it, might have to translate it one of these days if someone else doesn't by then.
>>23609019Are the black Great and MP Greats that appeared in SRW MX are from this manga?
>>23609682Yeah. this is the original source of the MP Great and Black Great Mazinger. Banpresto for a time seemed to use MP Greats fairly often.Alpha 1Compact 2/ImpactAR64MX
>>23609725What chapter/volume are they in?
>>23609573Anon I think you'd be able to tell whether someone's translation is decent or utter dogshit
>>23609760Chapter 5 in the 2nd volume is the beginning of the story that leads to them.
The chapter where Tetsuya was in the jungle presumed dead was so bad.
>>23609770Of course I would, but I still haven’t actually gotten back from that anon to see any of his work or know if he’s legit or not.
>>23609811Then I guess we'll have to kill him
>>23609770People here have trusted ARR and Kaizoku. The OL Haman-sama manga still has no translation, but nobody but me is upset by that because they think MTL is all that's necessary.
>>23609865How is it even possible that anyone could trust ARR? It’d be one thing if they were written coherently enough to fool people who don’t know enough Japanese to notice them contradicting the audio, but aren’t ARR subs notorious for being completely incoherent crabsticks?
>>23609865>People here have trusted ARR
Thank you thank you thank you thank you. I've been reading Ota's Mazinger Z manga at work and it's great. I really love the way he draws Sayaka
>>23610106Ota’s Jun is just as adorable.
>>23609865>The OL Haman-sama manga still has no translation, but nobody but me is upset by thatOk well apparently I'm a schizo who's responding to my own post>didn't think a translation could get that bad>not even just replacing phrases with other workable phrases>intuit or realize it's MTLMisery.
>>23610104I was told Trider G7 doesn't need new subs because it already has them.https://desuarchive.org/m/thread/23577432/#23578766
>>23609132To make the way it unfurls look more plausible.
>>23609629I ripped it & put it in a zip here, check it out, it looks awesome.https://archive.org/details/otazingers
>>23611123>look more plausible.yeah because that's been our big concern
Does anyone else here use Mihon and unable to download these chapters ?>>23609019Can you please upload to mangakakalot, bato or manganato
>>23614268>>23609569They're also on these MEGAs.
>>23611703People have been doing this forever. Sometimes even official products have subtle panel lining for extra flair.
>>23611104Currently watching G7, and yeah it's not the best. 70% of the text is fine, 20% requires some skill at understanding crabsticks, and the last 10% is completely incomprehensible. ARR has done so much damage to mecha anime it's honestly rage inducing. Can barely watch anything niche from before the 00s without seeing their name.
as someone who was dissapinted with the original Mazinger manga and isnt really into the 70s shows, where should I go to give Mazinger another chance? I loved reading all of getter robo and watching Armageddon has me interested in tons of other old mecha but I feel like Mazinger kinda got screwed over outside of Mazinkaiser and Shin Mazinger the impact
>>23616886Just read the Mazinger manga written by Gosaku Ota. It's basically just a more concise version of the Toei anime, which most people agree is better than Go Nagai's manga. It's not a substitute for the anime though, many notworthy things are in the anime that are not in Ota's (or Nagai's) mangaYou really should give the anime a shot if you like Ota's manga, it is the single most important and influential mecha anime ever made And you may not be into 70s anime but Mazinger Z legitimately is arguably the best mecha anime of the 70s, albeit its only real competition is Gundam and Zambot 3. There are so many cool things Mazinger Z does that you just don't see in other mecha shows since it has a big focus on the R&D of the titular robot
>>23614886The first episode was complete garbage for subs where half the dialogue just wasn't subbed at all and the other half felt blatantly wrong. I'm not subjecting myself to that crap.
>>23616983apperciate the genuine response anon, il try and give the 70s show another shot since its been years. Never heard about the Gosaku Ota manga before but il also give that a shot
>>23616983>which most people agree is better than Go Nagai's manga.lol no
>>23616886How many times are you gonna ask before you get tired of hearing the same answer. There's no shortcut. Fuck off.
>>23617206a-anon this is the first time ive ever been on m...
So I have 3 days off a week to work on manga thanks to my day job.I did the math, & I did that 170-page story arc in 25 days total, but only 11 days of actually working on it.Damn, I could work so much faster if I didn't have to be a responsible member of society, this is bullshit.
>>23616886>>23616983The only problem with the Nagai manga is that it cuts off in the middle and becomes a companion piece for the anime. That said, if you're not motivated enough to watch the toei anime (It is 90 fucking episodes of monster of the week. I like it, but I can't recommend it to people in good faith.) the ota manga is a great substitute as said above. Certain episodes are cut down for the manga, but there's also new stuff Ota added in that I liked (Fish people chapter, the resistance front story, some of the Dr Hell backstory near the end)As for anime I think Mazinkaiser was the closest to the OG manga in spirit, with the art and fan-service and adaptations of manga story beats. But Z himself was scrapped and we had new robot instead.Edition Z also *kind of* did that but also added and tweaked a bunch of stuff, not to knock it it's very good. I just wish it had more robot action and "R&D" as he put it. And also a proper Great Mazinger follow-up(NEVER SAY NEVER :>>>>>>)
>>23617394Take your time anon, it hasn't been translated in English in over four decades, we're not gonna combust if we have to wait another year or two
>>23617442>and becomes a companion piece for the anime.Stop repeating this bullshit>b-but they didn't do a boss borot origin storyGet over it. The Mazinger Z manga was episodic adventures from the very beginning but Nagai always gave it a deliberate progression. Z's origin story, Gamia arc, Lorelai arc, Brocken arc, Ashura's revenge, Gorgon's introduction and then the Mazinger army showdown. All of them iconic and introduced into animation or reused in other Mazinger manga. Ota's manga is good but this low IQ contrarianism against Nagai's original Mazinger manga needs to stop.
>>23617687>Get over it.They don't do origin stories for any of the anime stuff that appears later in the manga, not just Boss Borot, aside from, what, Viscount Pigman (who disappears after his one manga chapter anyway)? See also Diana A, Mazinger's various upgrades like the Iron Cutter, freaking Duke Gorgon who just appears already like he had been colaborating with Dr.Hell even though he hadn't done shit up to that point in the manga. You also go from arcs taking several chapters to one and dones which obviously results in much more basic storytelling.>Stop repeating this bullshitPeople aren't saying that stuff to bash the manga, they say it due to so many people reacting really badly to the tv magazine chapters to the point they don't even check the Mazinger Army story for the conclusion of the Mazinger Z story. People react negatively to the tv magazine chapters even if they don't know the publication history. Others bring up the publication history just in an attempt most readers don't give up on the manga and at least try the final arc, knowing they can just skip all that stuff that's ignored by it.And, yeah, the tv magazine chapters get referenced by some later works, but it's really often just an alternate source of designs or extra units. You don't see their story being adapted unlike the earlier chapters because there's no real "story" to adapt.Believe me, I would never bring up the tv magazine stuff if I didn't notice how much those chapters being inserted into the volumes make people consider the entire manga trash.
>>23617687bro, Nagai himself admitted that the Mazinger Nana he made was low effort stuff he drew to col down between chapters of Devilman. Yes, there's parts of it that would be adapted later, but that just makes it all the more superfluous in the end, since the adaptations all do a better job than the original. Nagai's Mazinger characters are bland, the manga's artwork is basic, and the jank way that some stuff just appears and disappears reminds me of G1 Transformers. I've read Violence Jack, I know what a good Go Nagai looks like and Mazinger Z ain't it
>>23617747There are 44 SJ chapters of Mazinger Z and only 13 TV magazine chapters. There is no realistic way that less than 1/4 of the chapters ruins the entire manga. I bet you don't even actually know which chapters come from which serialization and you're just making a series of dumb assumptions. A lot of those episodic stories come straight from SJ while the Grogos battle and Mazinger Army arc were both continued in the TV magazine serialization after being left unfinished in SJ.>>23617820Nagai's Mazinger is legendary and that's a fact not an opinion. The TV series was also great but many things exclusive to Nagai's manga have not only inspired many other works but have become the most memorable parts of the Mazinger franchise. Honestly fuck you shitter.
>>23617937>A lot of those episodic stories come straight from SJ while the Grogos battle and Mazinger Army arc were both continued in the TV magazine serialization after being left unfinished in SJ.Shounen Jump's chapters have basically only have 8 stories>Intro>Dogra/Magra>Fake Mazinger>Operation Kikkaiju>Song of Lorelei>Brocken's attack>Grogos>(Start of) Mazinger Army arcTv Magazine in comparison are all short one shots with no real continuity between those chapters. It wasn't Tv Magazine that completed the Mazinger Army arc either, it was later volume compilations that added those chapters. There is a "new" version of the Mazinger Z manga that I've never seen fully though, just a few images posted online (from 2014, I think?). Supposedly it goes back and adds tons of extra pages and retcons tying everything together, like actually having an origin for Boss Borot or acknowledging the Aphrodite A from Shounen Jump and Tv Magazine as different units. Also another chapter with Duke Gorgon. And covers until the end of the Dr.Hell battle rather than leaving that for Great Mazinger. Don't know how well it'd flow or fix the issues with the pacing of the tv magazine chapters though, but it at least seems to address the continuity problems.
>>23617021From what I've seen so far, I think the first episode has the most missing lines. So if you can push through that you can enjoy the rest of ARR's shit sandwich. But yeah nobody should have to subject themselves to it. I just wanted to see what this random anime from 1980 did to deserve being in all those SRW games.
>>23618006It's on my list because it's technically a Tomino show and I want to understand how the fuck this death cultist who thinks human extermination is sympathetic managed to make Turn A Gundam so good
Would you do Z Mazinger in the future?
>>23617442>It is 90 fucking episodes of monster of the week. I like it, but I can't recommend it to people in good faith.I can, I don't even love MOTW but it was still a good showBut yeah I'd recommend Kaiser and Shin and Ota as things less daunting and then Zero, and hopefully by that point, the person loves Mazinger enough to give Toei a try
>>23617968>Tv Magazine in comparison are all short one shots with no real continuity between those chapters. No it isn't. It continued Grogos arc and Mazinger Army. Then it introduced Gorgon and segued into Great. All in just 13 chapters. >It wasn't Tv Magazine that completed the Mazinger Army arc eitherYeah it was. Multiple Japanese sources state that. >Supposedly it goes back and adds tons of extra pages and retcons tying everything together, like actually having an origin for Boss Borot or acknowledging the Aphrodite A from Shounen Jump and Tv Magazine as different units.I don't think that's true.>Also another chapter with Duke Gorgon. There were at least 4 Duke Gorgon chapters in TV magazine. Pic related.
Volume 3 also begins with an episodic chapter before dedicating the rest of the volume to another giant story arc.https://mangadex.org/title/4dded426-fe3d-4d7c-a1f1-7168e6f7d83c/great-mazinger
Bump.
>>23621309Nice
I'm watching the anime right now. Did they need to dumb it down so fucking much? There's even a talking crow that trolls Boss. I know the objective target for this show are kids, but still, it's beyond stupid. Also, Koji was cocky, but Tetsuya is an asshole.
>>23618190>Yeah it was. Multiple Japanese sources state that. No, I checked the Japanese sources. You might be mixing it up because those chapters were included in the same compiled volume that first had the Tv Magazine chapters, so some might credit them to the tv magazine run, but those Mazinger Army chapters weren't from Tv Magazine itself, which is why they directly reference a different run of Mazinger. The tv magazine 13 chapter run was>Gokyun 05>Ura P9>Crocodiver 01>Kikaiju Baron Ashura>Fubuking S1/the Great operation of Kikkaiju landslide>Bossman B9/Boss Borot's rebellion>Naidol V1/Aphrodite A operation>Duke Gorgon>Kentador Gamma 7 (Duke Gorgon)>Duke Gorgon's Infernal Quagmire>Viscount Pygman>The Death of Dr.Hell(this is different from the one leading from the Mazinger Army arc, no Kouji sinking into the sea or anything like that, it's a total victory)>Great Mazinger debuts
>>23618190>Supposedly it goes back and adds tons of extra pages and retcons tying everything together, like actually having an origin for Boss Borot or acknowledging the Aphrodite A from Shounen Jump and Tv Magazine as different units.>I don't think that's true.It is. I do have that version. Though the spanish translation fucked up the naming with the different Aphrodite units and made it confusing.>And covers until the end of the Dr.Hell battle rather than leaving that for Great MazingerIt also adds a new small epilogue set after Dr Hell's defeat. Here are my shitty "scans" of that epilogue:https://litter.catbox.moe/q8cne0z7fnvh7lax.7z
>>23632798The crow is like, only good in that one Mazinger vs Devilman manga
>>23632798Yeah I didn't like how Great was 10x more childish and goofy than Z
>>23634366Z already had a kid the audience can relate to, and a guy with a shit robot for comic relief. And they both made their way into Great, but it wasn't enough. It's really off-puting how much bullshit they added. Even Boss wasn't so pathetic with Sayaka as he is with Jun.By the way, controversial take: I believe the opening song from Great is quite better than the one from Mazinger. But the thing is that Mazinger is so iconic that its opening is more famous (and I'm fine with that).
>>23634366>>23636238>way more enemies bickering among each other>Kenzo is genuinely a warm dad and person>Tetsuya's a bit more cocky but also well trained, Jun does alright for herself too>Robot Junior is inoffensive rather than a waste of space that needs constant helpbut>the fucking crow>reused plotlines from Z>less upgrades for Great (but I guess it was already so great?)Great and Tetsuya are my favourite but they have the weakest show, shit sucks. The opening's an absolute blast, all the Mazinger openings are good
>>23638139>>23634366>>23632798>There's even a talking crow that trolls Boss.
>>23638140Fucking atrocious, no one deserves this>then the crow was fine in the vs Devilman manga
>>23638142Not even your least favorite characters of all ti/m/e deserve the Crow shatting?
>>23638145Literally no human being or alien
>>23638172Alright then.
>>23617968>>23632911So this'd be the 4-volume Kaitenban reprint from 2013, right?Wouldn't mind seeing it translated.
>>23632798The crow debuted in Z first.
>Jinzo got a free army of Greats + GMFA1>perfect replacements of Venus A, Boss Borot and a free ride for Shiro (who already piloted one of them)>decided to throw them away because "wah too dangerous to exist!!"what a fucking retarded cunt.

>>23632831>>23632911No, you have not checked "the japanese sources". I don't care about your chopped up italian edition. This is straight from Mazinger Bible (because I use real sources)>連載誌だった「週刊少年ジャンプ」 より発売された単行本。 >A tankōbon volume released from the serialized magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump. It contains parts of the “Gurogos Arc” and the “Mazinger Corps Arc,” excluding the sections published in TV Magazine. It is now difficult to obtain, commanding high prices even at used bookstores. Contributions by Osamu Tezuka, Masaki Tsuji, Akira Nishikino, Antonio Inoki, and others appear at the end of each volume.
>>23632831>>23632911>>23650296And here's more sources, straight from Kodansha's listing of Mazinger Z's chapters. I'll even pair it with the Mazinger Bible cover image collection so you can cross reference the dates and chapters of the Gurgos and Mazinger Army arcs (I'll doubt you'll do it though because you suck). You can see that it jumps from 『週刊少年ジャンプ』1973年7月9日号 (Gurogos arc first part) directly into Mazinger Army (『週刊少年ジャンプ』1973年7月16日号). For even further proof here's the except about it on wikipedia stating that 1973/7/9 is ONLY the first part of the Gurogos story>対グロゴス戦の戦闘開始まで(週刊少年ジャンプ’73年7月9日号掲載分まで)を収録して未完となる>The volume covers the events up to the start of the battle against Gorgos (as published in the July 9, 1973 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump) and remains unfinished. Now kys.
Three years since the passing of Ichiro Mizuki.
Should have volume 3 done by the end of the weekend if I seriously haul ass.
>>23609019BasedYou are The TRANSLATION PRO AnonGod Bless you
>>23650301>>23650296I don't think anyone was arguing that the ending of the Shounen Jump story was published on the Shounen Jump itself.Where you're just making up stuff is jumping from that to saying those chapters are Tv Magazine chapters. They were extra chapters added to the later volume compilations, not actually part of the chapters published on tv magazine itself. What that description is saying is that this volume compilation doesn't include the Tv Magazine chapters, which is absolutely right. It has nothing to do with your claims that Gorgos' and Mazinger Corps' final chapters were published on the Tv Magazine run. That's a complete fabrication of yours.
>>23657000Sorry but I've already posted extensive proof. You are arguing in bad faith. There literally isn't a single source in your argument. You lost.
>>23657000It says「グロゴス編」の一部, the first part of the Grogos arc. The second part of Grogos was not published in Shounen Jump and instead the narrative jumped straight into the Mazinger Army finale once it was known that Mazinger was leaving Shounen Jump. You're now claiming that the second part of Grogos was an extra chapter drawn after both serializations of Mazinger ended but I've yet to see any proof of that.
>autism about primary sourcesOk someone help me out here>literally every other name for antags are Name + Title>Yami no Teiou is rightly "Emperor of Darkness">Ankoku Daishogun is translated as "Great General of Darkness"It feels like Ankoku is his legal name and this was a mistake or oversight in localization, and Japan's just going along with the better-known western name. Let alone the problem of how to differentiate yami from ankoku, I just don't see it there AND my theory matches the naming scheme of literally all the prior villains and his coworkers. Great General Ankoku doesn't roll off the tongue and I'm not going to insist on it, but I think that's his name, it's lonely not to have a name.
>>23660126Easy. Great General of Darkness and Shadow Emperor.
>>23660435>of DarknessKill>Shadow EmperorThat makes it sound like he's a secret ruler behind the scenes that never gets taken care of or resolved properly- oh.
