Yeah it does make alot of sense, not the most original maybe but it just fits. And with people like carla and walter around i could see it being organized in the shadows but with no official ties so that it cant be tied to them.

It especially doesn't matter all the way through your first NG+ run. You only really need to START to consider getting nitty gritty with menus in the really endgame content that there's tons of shit to do before reaching.

All the inventory management and menuing can be sufficiently streamlined if you want it to be, or vice versa.

What about needing actual spacial awareness and the ability to turn properly, as well as engaging with different FCS types is inconvenient? This doesn't even make sense, every generation of AC before AC6 was a "new" AC that tried putting in different things that interact with the existing basic movement formula/aiming scheme and they managed to all play differently enough to feel distinct. Both the lock on and free aim in AC6 just don't give the quite the same "robot piloting" satisfaction of previous titles. I think you're projecting with the whole "feel superior" bit as well.

Your glossing over the inconvenience as "robot piloting satisfaction" is why I said you feel superior from it, because that's what you like. The unnecessary inconvenience is fromsoft’s way of experimenting with AC’s controls, it's bound to change and evolve. Yet when it does evolve (like its real-life technological counterparts, which is why I brought up modern fighter jets and old warplanes) and the fights feel more ease, closer, more personal, and actually maneuver better instead of just bunny hopping and seeing whose blast hits first like in previous titles, you don't like it and brush it off as "dumbing down" the gameplay.

You still need to wait the computer to lock on the target otherwise it'll miss.
You still need to maneuver it yourself by knowing the timing when to fly fast, when to swerve left and right, when to backflip, etc.
What you don't need to do, and what you're hyper-focusing on that make you "feel superior" and AC6 le bad is, wanting the drone to turn it's camera slowly otherwise it's not a drone.

To me it sounds like you're the one glossing over things. You dismiss my points as simply being what I like and therefore invalid. If you don't enjoy the movement that's fine, but you not enjoying the older games' movement doesn't make it inconvenient. Also to say its however hits first is incredibly disingenuous because you deliberately ignore the mechanics at play to simplify the concept of 2 enemies lobbing projectiles at each other. If you truly think theres no other movement or strategy happening in the old games other than bunny hopping around limply, I have to assume you didn't play them much. If anything, it can be argued that AC6 embodies "seeing whose blast hits first" much more due to its questionable stagger bar and damage multiplier that allow for instant kills depending on the situation. That doesn't mean I'm going to start saying there's absolutely 0 nuance to AC6 combat though.

I wish they kept the QB turn the same in AC6. I don't know what they were thinking with assigning the boost on button with the quick turns. It just seems more like heavy finger work if you don't have a KB.

It's actually a dedicated mashed theme to 2 series I love, Yukikaze and Knights of Sidonia, which is why the paint scheme is monochrome white and silver. The weapons themselves, actually,are just experimental run of working aesthetics.

Very good understanding of color theory. You really employ a wide variety of paint schemes, and know what shades to use.
Like I don't really like the damascus steel ephemera one too much, but I can't point out any objective flaws with it, just subjective.

The purple one's very nice on the eyes. Good example of a little being a lot.

The basho one's another good example. The camo pattern with the colors you used do a lot of heavy lifting, but so does that grainy decal you used. Cool touch.

The brown one has great part synergy. And I love the emblem you made for it. Looks high quality, like it's professionally made. The shark mouth on the visor is a badass touch.

Thanks for taking the time to post all those links and rate so many ACs btw.

Gotcha, thats fair. Its a nice AC. I know you said that you dont play so much these days. But i would like to see something made by you that breaks from the design language of your previous AC. Again thanks, im happy that this one gets some shine. Its my personal favourite out of the 30ish AC's ive made. Also why i tried harder on the emblem wanted it to look good. And yeah the shark face is a fun quirk of the visor on that head part. Obviously meant to be a callback to WW2 fighters etc

Only things I'd change I guess is I'd try to recreate the decals you used with white in them in the decal editor and make the white sections a little darker and yellower to match with how aged and blemished the AC otherwise looks. Maybe make some scratch marks or burn marks in the editor too, to place around the grainy decals to give them some texture, and help them blend better too.

The basho arms with the same RRI logo and emblem placements on most of them is a particular running cliche amongst my ACs, I'll admit.

As a pvp player, it's been a real demotivator watching the honorable player population shrink, and the pvp cheeser population grow though. I really like showing my ACs off in team lobbies, but they're wasted on double nebula tet and quad missile boat LOADER 4s.

Thanks, its another favourite of mine. He's made to be one of two members in a duo team working for Takigawa Harmonics. Takigawa always stuck out to me as one of the more mysterious corps aswell as working with weird tech, so it felt fitting that they would have a smaller team of elite clandestine operators. At one point it was actually alot more rusty and scratched up, but i went back on that since i felt too cliche. I wanted this to be a old AC not a beat up one. Kinda that "old men in a profession where most die young" vibe.

Nope, it adds nothing on the players end. Its meant to keep it pure without adding anything stronger for the player. So its more a way to really put your builds to the test and actually finding balance in your loadout.

Its not perfect mind you. But its a blessing doing a mission simple mission like "destroy the transport helicopters" which used to be a cakewalk. Now its filled with MT's and new beefed up MT's that can take some real punishment. Aswell as artillery installations everywhere which really keeps you in check. 2 AC's and a tank C-weapon. So it makes the simple missions proper gauntlets. What they should always have been imo. If you look at this pic >>23624623 for example, that massive struckture is a new addition to the "destroy artillery" mission. Along with hordes of enemies. It really makes it feel like your storming a city filled with enemies. Its great.

I think anon has a point. AC6 feels like a closed circle, everything that happens in the plot is exclusively relevant to the player and people the player interacts with. Rubicon doesn't feel like a planet, it feels like a theme park. The game makes it feel like there's a maximum of ~1,000 people on Rubicon who all happen to be related to plot critical events and locations and factions and interests.

Out of all the ACs you fight in 6? Only *two* are an unaffiliated independent merc who has nothing to do with the plot or any faction. Branch are directly relevant to the events of the game. Nosaac is just a guy, and you don't even fight Gordo Monkey. So really, just one independent out of 29 ACs. So, as Anon noticed, AC6 does not do a good job of making 621 feel like a merc. He serves one plot-mandated corporation most of the game, and in the end is left choosing which voice in his head will lead him to become Jesus of Rubicon, Shiva of Rubicon, or God-Emperor of Rubicon.
Remember how in the old games you would see mercs in the rankings whom you NEVER interact with outside the arena? Remember how you could have corporate preference that would build up to the ending choice for the game?

There are no irrelevant (to the plot) people because all the unnamed grunts belong to the few factions that all are heavily invested in the struggle for the control of the Coral.
Everything and everyone in the game are, in some way, revolving around the Coral (and thus the plot) because there's nothing else to do or be for on the Rubicon during whatever time the events of the game are taking place. I'm not telling that you're wrong or anything, it's just that AC6 doesn't just feel like a closed circle, it very explicitly is one. More specifically, it's a burning ring of fire.
Rubicon as a setting just doesn't stand on its own, it's far too hyperfocused on the Coral plot with the exclusion of nearly everything else. It feels like the older games had more space to breathe, so to speak, because they were all more or less accomodating for there being random Janes and Joes, whose ordinary lives just so happen to occupy the same general vicinity as the epic struggle for domination between whatever powers were, well, in the power at the time, and the good old random Ravens (plural) duking it out for the shiny C.

Thank you for this post. Yeah, that's exactly it. I think for me it's just disappointing because Rubicon *could* be really, really cool. Like the RLF is an example of the cool things you could do, but that's it. Also, when we remember that AC6 was meant to be Armored Core: Dune, and incidentally, was bound to come out as Dune was experiencing major popularity again. If you think of 6 being on a place like Arrakis, suddenly the extremely tight-knit characters and setting makes leagues more sense.

That being said, I feel like if the plot of AC6 didn't take place on something the size of a planet, it would feel much much better and less player-fixated. The scale they set for themselves utterly betrays the plot and characters.

Armored Core is pretty fun. I tried AC2 & 3 but 1 is the only game I don't immediately spiral into debt on.

1 is pretty forgiving debtwise, especially when you find the Karasawa. The missions that are really harsh on your AP also come along so close to the end of the game that you should have a bajillion credits stockpiled anyways. That said I do like to go into debt deliberately one time for the free radar from Human+.

Some weapons are better than others and a few like the karasawa were clearly designed to be overpowered, but the real "how the hell did this get through testing" weapon was the WM-L201. To put it in perspective, in the second game they doubled the weight, reduced the ammo count by two thirds and reduced the missile speed by like 80%, and you could still make it work just from the sheer damage output. In the first game it's a straight upgrade from the grenade launcher.

Just cleaning up some stuff here and there, still its fitting that all you do has to do with the main plot since literally everyone is here for the coral. I have nothing against the story. It's just that the story is pretty much all there is to speculate about, unless you enjoy frothing at the mouth at the absolute state of multiplayer. Although I do say that as someone who finds Another Age and V both presenting the closest thing to a quintessential mecha mercenary experience that the series has to offer. The only other games I can think of that did it as well or better, depending on which I'm more in mood for, would be MW5 Mercs and (Harebrained Schemes's) Battletech, since both allowed for pretty much endless dicking around. I don't like Battlemech aesthetic all that much though, so that tanks the score.
The other thing is that I prefer the setting being done first and then having the story/-ies fit it. The whole first and second gen feel more like that, having the world that breathes on its own and then the stories that just so happen to happen in it. And I also preferred being a Raven among Ravens instead of RAVEN, THE INDEPENDENT MERCENARY AND ALSO THE CHOSEN HERO TO ALL THAT LIVES but that may be my personal bias. I liked how Last Raven did this with the multiple story paths, you weren't the one and only indispensable to the plot asset, if you didn't do the job, someone else would. You could pretty much do nothing of consequence thorough the entirety of the campaign and be saddled with shooting at some random aerial moving targets by the end of it yet the history would follow its course anyway.

TLDR: As finely crafted as it may be, I just don't particularly care about the story, to be honest. I'd rather care about the setting instead.

Tanks with arms look kinda silly and ideally if weapon arms weren’t cut I would be a tank or macross like bipedal transformer jet with LAMMERGEIER legs.
But yeah 9 second reload vs 6 second pushes out more damage, range isn’t a big issue since I only fight medium-close range.

Yeah, I've had a biped with the REDEYE and the eye painted red, body painted yellow with turquoise accents, Karasawa, back plasma cannons and blade AC in every AC game I've played, VD kind of fucked with it due back weapons being different and 4th gen fucked me over by not having any REDEYE equivalent, so did VI to an extent as the radar antenna went to Arquebus and the single eye to Balam.

I never disagreed with you. The head gets used for Zaku/Rick Dom builds, the arms are good for byarlant and white glint cloning. At least the legs look fat instead of like high heels.
