Char initially thought she could be another Lalah, but her mindset caused him to eventually leave under the excuse of aiding Earth's Sphere-based elements to undermine the Federation. Considering Kycilia had ties to the Karn family and had Haman learning from her at some point before and during the OYW, it makes sense Char would see shadows of her in Haman.
