It has a lot of interesting ideas and a detailed setting that the show itself squanders for a "and then all the good guys on each side teamed up into one super good side and saved the day" ending. Especially coming after Turn A, which was pretty much the peak of Tomino's "I'm writing for The Art and don't give a single shit about general audiences" it was a huge letdown.Thing is, as time went on that style of feel-good not-even-trying-to-be-realistic writing became common, and if anything got even more fantastical. Standards have gotten so low that Seed unironically shines in comparison. Even Destiny, as reviled and incoherent as it is, is somehow more interesting than some of the stinkers we've been getting. And that's not even getting into how as time has gone by, more people are more comfortable with admitting they don't WANT a complex war story, they legitimately just want to see cool robots fighting each other and a feel good heroes save the day ending. And hell, Seed provides that.

Sure he takes out nameless grunts like they're nothing but that's true of all Gundam major series protagonists, and when he's up against named characters the best he can do is just fend them off outside of the pivotal moments of Nicol and Rau. The ultimate jobber Yzak had just has many "big" kills

One of the whole points of the setting is that coordinators were exiled to the colonies and natural x coordinator marriage was forbidden by the Feddies/Blue Cosmos. They all share the same genetic template (probably because it was cheaper and every parent wanted a designer baby).In the show they acknowledge they have at most one more generation before becoming completely sterile/inbred and cant marry without the PLANTs guidance.
