Hard mode update came out
I still won’t buy this game until a mod or update lets me play as a real mecha, I refuse to play as a terminator humandface clanker
>>
>>23643754
>you play as a cute robot girl
Not bad, might give this a t-
>you also kill cute robot girls
Fucking ruined, into the trash it goes.
>>
>>23643850
I don’t wanna play as a girl
>>
>>23643850
What if some of those Robot girls were super duper evil?
>>
>>23643754
How are the aesthetics later on? I played the demo and it was very grey and quiet. Reminded me of dark souls somewhat with how gloomy and joyless the atmosphere was. The mech(a musume) also felt pretty slow and kinda weak. The combat also felt a bit monotone but I can chalk that up to it being early game. Does it get more stylish later on?
>>
>>23651403
Define stylish. As anons tell you it's classic Armored core style gameplay, if you're expecting tighter melee, that's not really gonna happen, maybe vol.2 they might tweak melee more than one hit and to be less situational, but the game is very shooter oriented. General speed of the gameplay, that however does pick up.
>>
>>23643754
Just use Gypro-Verde parts, you can turn yourself into minitank or tachikoma.
>>23651403
It's mostly Blame!-like industrial sites and city ruins. Upper levels are clean and more sci-fi, middle levels are industrial warzone. Lower levels are ruins in desert full of parasites and infected plants, definitely the coolest one visually.
>>
Anyone know how to mod UE4 stuff? I really want to increase projectile speeds for enemies and the player, weapons feel really weak and underwhelming.
>>
>>23649630
I am sad there were no mesugakis, just a tsundere tank.
>>
Well I bought it. It's pretty fun although too slow for my taste. I don't like how the "sprint" drains your energy and the weird turn speed thing isn't great either.
>>
>>23659188
Fixed turn speed was in all armored cores except 6, and I dont remember but normal boosting consumed energy on the older games too. AC4 and 6 have infinite boost.
>>
Did they fix the missile tracking? I only used the HALVR because it was the only one that consistently hit the target, which I'm fairly sure is not what they intended.
>>
>>23659188
You can make energy less of a chore if you tune your EP, you get more tuning points from killing hostile Nymphs. Also different frame parts have different energy consumption for movement, so try swapping them too.
>>
Lol, doing a quick boost while boosting with the fastest wheeled legs SLOWS YOU DOWN. Janky asf.

And human sized robot where the mecha part is replaced with a musume part, more like.

I did enjoy the game, more than I'm willing to admit even, but this is just misclassification leading to false advertising. If it's supposed to be a mecha game, then it better have the player (character) sit inside and control a proper gianto robotto. This game is such a mixed bag, on one hand, the nymphs are handling more like a proper robotic vehicles (so mecha) than the ACs from AC6, which for the most part just felt like characters with verniers strapped on. On the other hand, they're both just human sized and human looking anime robololi abominations and I can't say I care much about that.

Genuinely great news. I was worried that DL would be too niche with trying to mix up mecha musume with AC gameplay and grounded visuals but hearing that it performed well for Nitroplus is awesome. Hopefully proper expansion or sequel is on the table now.

Mate shut the fuck up with this shit already. I don't care how frustrated you are, the chance of someone making a megastructure game with DeS level design and oversized mechs was even lower than that of a mecha-musume AC-like being made, and that was already a fucking miracle.
If you want more mecha games, you'll get them. If you want more AC games that actually play like AC and not AC6, there's already at least 3 promising doujin titles in development. Mechagirl games barely exist.
And to claim "Mecha-musume" or メカ少女 isn't mecha is fucking stupid. Either way, what false advertisement, anyone can see from any screenshot what you're actually going to be playing as. Wanna argue it should also be advertised as a third person shooter instead?

Is the water treatment level the top of the nests? I guess the big sun thing is an exposed reactor core?
>>
>>23683708
The entirety of Hod is still inside that fuckhuge crater in the planet.
The upper levels/Alqand territory is effectively the top of the megastructure they all live in yes, but its still inside the aforementioned crater.

>I guess the big sun thing is an exposed reactor core?
You mean the literal sun/light source we see? I'm actually not sure about that. The power source/scifi magic material that everything in Hod runs on is Cells. I think the "sun" we see underground is really just an artificial sun that was either made by the Nymphs themselves or the human civilization that inhabited Hod before everything went to shit. Probably either to light the place up and make it less depressing, or at least provide a constant heat source.

Doll's Nest is set in a chasm where a nanomachine weapon went apeshit. The superstructure the game takes place in something that goes towards the center of the planet.
If the symbolism doesn't strike you in the head like a sledgehammer hard enough, the main menu theme of the game is literally called "Reverse Babel"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4Xe-2ot0BM
Nehma outright says that Hod continues growing and that even she doesn't know how deep it goes now. Implying that even now, the autonomous functions of Hod continue eating and expanding into the planet's center.
>>
A lot of stuff in the game is kept vague and open to interpretation, but I think it generally goes:

- Metametria, the local mega corporation discovers cells and makes factories/research facilities for it.
- Said Metametria facility develops nanomachine technology and weapons, a notable breakthrough being autonomous lifeforms. Said location is what becomes known as "Hod" later down the line
- Some apocalyptic shit happens that never is elaborated upon, resulting in Humans being eradicated from Hod. Either way, the autonomous cell-based lifeforms become the rulers of Hod
- The Central Pacific Trade Organization sends in drones to investigate the fallen Metametria facilities, a zone now given the code name by the rest of humanity as "Doll's Nest"
- More blank spots in the timeline here. The ultimate fate of humanity is left ambiguous, but it can be inferred that the forces of Hod eventually wiped out the rest of humanity or made them outright fuck off and abandon the planet.

Humanity MIGHT still be around, but realistically, humans probably won't be happy with a huge colony of self-replicating terminator anime robot ant girls being their neighbour. We'd be sending nukes Hod's way like every wednesday if we're still around. And since Hod has been thriving for a long time and the average modern Nymph doesn't even seem to be worried about human wars, much less know about humans in the first place, more than likely, Humanity was wiped out by Hod or left the planet permanently.

And that's just humanity's footprint in the game. Hod and Nymphs themselves have their own complicated history once they became sentient and developed their own cultures and societies. But that's a lorefag dump for another day.
>>
>>23673224
>the ACs from AC6, which for the most part just felt like characters with verniers strapped on
I dunno why people keep bleating about this when a full half of mecha anime or more very clearly animate them as moving like people with verniers, leading to the weirdest fucking situation where if a gundam in a videogame fights like it does in it's own anime... it's not mecha anymore?

Or hell, the opposite, where actual synthetic humanoids are praised for being authentic mecha vehicle gameplay just because they turn slow?
>>

I think its just the weird physics, something that big just cant turn that fast and then stop turning instantly without spending huge amounts of energy.
But I guess it would be too annoying to have even turning around consuming your boost gauge.

I doubt that humanity would feel threatened by Nymphs since Nymphs keep getting overran by Variants or devastated in wars with each other. If anything, Nymphs come off as relatively weak civilization since smaller colonies can barely survive and big ones waste all their resources fighting other colonies, like in some pointless third world tribal wars. It's likely that humanity would be much more worried about Variants, going by the implications of headless drone reactor quest.
>>
>>23685705
>I think its just the weird physics, something that big just cant turn that fast and then stop turning instantly without spending huge amounts of energy.

This would make the arms sensible (just ghetto-shoot a mothafucka on your flank instead of turning) and would force pilots into cool maneuvers instead of the boring face-to-face combat all the time where you never were doing any flips or acrobatics anyway to justify the rigidity as a formula.
You'll get what I mean by maneuvers if you ever did gen 1-4 melee-only arena runs while relying basically only on the radar

Take AC6 controls layout and swap the dumb "boost switch" with legs&torso&arms turning unity switch. Boom it's done, congrats on leaving the "circle strafe" overdone combat loop

The whole Nymph sense of self and tribalism thing only came after Nehma got bored and started playing god I think.
The earliest Nymphs looked distinctly more doll-like and robotic. And they explicitly had no ego or emotions. They were pretty much just robotic killing machines in every sense of the word. These were probably the forces of Hod that humanity fought against. The code name they gave Hod says its all. It was "Dolls Nest" not, "Freaky Insect Techno Necromorph Nest".

After winning the war against humanity, Nehma probably got bored and decided to turn Nymphs more human-like to entertain herself/run simulations/gather data whatever. We know that Nymph colonies fighting and betraying each other was something Nehma engineered by design.
>>
>>23686653
>>23687601
Nehma also says that Variants and Nymphs are fundamentally the same thing. That is to say, they're the same kind of cell/nanomachine lifeforms that Hod made.
The difference being that Nymphs were Variants that were guided down a specific evolutionary line and blessed with intelligence and purpose courtesy of Nehma. Whilst the Variants that we do know of were essentially the same nanomachine lifeforms left to their own devices with no purpose other than their base needs of survival and multiplying.
>>
>>23687601
>Dolls Nest
Dolls Nest is just as likely a reference to Nehma herself. She is the "Doll" and it is her nest. Nehma clearly has a deeper connection to Hod, having some administrative powers there with her eye thing. Nehma is also the only NPC in game to reference humans in her lines (the rest are item descriptions), unlike Nymphs that don't seem to acknowledge humans at all.

>After winning the war against humanity
Problem here is that all information relating to humans and chronological order of events in the game is so vague that we don't even know if humans even shared the same time frame with Variants and Nymphs. It's possible humans was long gone by the time Nymphs appeared.
We have many descriptions of Nymphs fighting Variants and each other, but nothing confirming the same with humans or that they even met humans. There are no descriptions like "Nymphs overwhelmed humans and forced them out of Hod". This is contrary to how the game confirms that Variants attacked and overwhelmed Lower level colonies. There are no descriptions like "Nymphs killed all humans and took gear from them". This is contrary to how the game describes Gardina scaveging Gypro-Verde (GOGL) after they won. Every description of Nymphs interacting with human technology is more like scavenging something unkown and abandoned some time ago:
>learning about it from manuals (Keris)
>taking it from still running autonomous factories, so no human presence needed for these (hand grenades)
>not understanding the purpose or function of human weapons (Caladbolg)
None of these confirm active human presence at the time it happened.

What I mean is that unless we get more additional lore like from DLC, I don't really agree with the whole humans-Nymphs war thing. Game gives no real explanation as to what happened to humanity, at what point and if there's still anyone outside alive like CPTO, so best to keep it to "humans are not in Hod anymore and it's a big mystery why".

I don't know why you people are still debating on the continued existence of humanity when the game itself spells out they're all fucking gone.
Description of the Gladius literally spells it out. Humanity is fucking gone. Now I suppose the bigger question people can argue and lorefag about is what brought about said extinction. Or maybe the technicality of "they're extinct insofar in the planet, but maybe they fucked off to space or something."

The various Metametria equipment used by Nymphs are the best glimpses of the world the predated the age of Hod and Nymphs.

>Scimitar
So there apparently was an energy crisis on the planet before. But the discovery and development of cell technology solved said crisis. Unfortunately, humans are innately murderhobos so the discovery of highly efficient energy just lead to humans creating more efficient ways to kill each other.

>Morning Star
>Halberd
Seems that traditional soldiers were still deployed against mechanical enemies. Humanity didn't shift to completely mechanical warfare. Good ol GI Joes still went akimbo against robot scum.

>Keris
Hollow-point bullets are considered no fun allowed even by our present day rules, and that rule still apparently applied even in the scifi future with Metametria. The last line here in particular can imply a lot depending on your interpretation though. Did it imply a time where Humans actually used said bullets against Nymphs? Or is it just a cheeky way of saying that in the age of Nymphs, human rules no longer applied?

On a related note, while there are a lot of Metametria made primary arms, there are absolutely no rear weapons made by them. Which would make sense because rear/shoulder weapons are specifically made for Nymph frames, a type of technology that only came to be after the age of humans has passed. Just a neat little bit of logical consistency within the setting.

It's Herros weapon but interestingly Boldr (poison grenade launcher) somewhat shares similar sentiment.
>While the use of weapons utilizing corrosive swarms was considered in the old colony of Arvud, its effects were so lethal that any research was banned it its entirety.
>That was the past. Whoever could stop this weapon from being used is long gone by now.
So yeah, Nymphs are kinda crazy and not afraid to use unethical weapons.

>there are absolutely no rear weapons made by them
Trident is Metometria-made rear weapon. But is a vehicle mount modified by Nymphs to be slapped on frame,so yes the lore is nicely consistent.
>>
Tank builds are really shitty to play, the most viable ones are a high rof primary, a melee weapon and fast missiles or cannons as back weapons with the fastest legs you can use.
>>
>>23688560
I think if more of the rear mounted weapons weren't steaming dogshit it might have helped.
Basically everything besides missles, sniper, and some of the higher-stat artillery is fucking useless. So there's no real incentive to use a heavy build when you can just be fast and still use the best weapons.
It makes me wonder how much the game was even tested, the difference in dps between some of the weapons is mind-boggling.

It didn't. At least not as well as you'd expect it to. Bosses detect camo really quickly. If you watch it again closely, she turned at the last second and negated the backstab/weak point damage bonus.

It's a little counterintuitive but the lockon bar isn't for your missiles, it's for your primary weapon. Your shots won't lead until you're fully locked on and your lockon time depends on your weapon's aim rate, so you want the gun with the lowest aim rate possible. The scimitar is probably the best primary because it has both high dps and a very fast lockon time

Hod was initially prepped for human habitation.
Literal water treatment plants and forest zones exist.
There is also a literal merchant colony of Nymphs that go around selling both random curiosities and weapons of mass destruction to other Nymphs. Do you think they just hand carry all their wares?

The lore of the game has us be Nehma's sneaky little shit, so all the places we go through in-game are either warzones or restricted zones. Each colony apparently has industrial/civilian zones that should be decently equipped for common daily life and of which the bulk of the colony population of worker/non-combat nymphs reside in. A bit of a missed opportunity that we don't get to explore those areas.

Yeah. The game's limited budget in regards to the narrative it wants to tell really shows at times and can be a bit funny, requiring quite a lot of suspension of disbelief.
For example, the good end of Hati's questline has you sneak her in to some ruins that are apparently outside the radar of Alqand's church inquisition and she safely hides in the ruins for the rest of the game. The funny bit is that said ruins are like a 2 minute walk away from the main temple and headquarters of the Alqand inquisition.

Nymphs are like ants, and they don't even fuck, supposedly the queens are tree like organisms.
>>
>>23699920
Queens.... Vary. Nemhra is a queen but shes certainly not a tree, and according to some of the nymphs you meet along the way you "smell like a child of the tree" but they then go on to say that such nymphs are basically myth at this point, and theres a whole load of tales about "seedling nymphs" that are akin to fairy stories. So presumably Nymphs have other ways of reproduction.
As for the dress, presumably its due to them mimicking Humans but not understanding the hows or whys.

The entirety of Hod is so massive that I do feel sad we only got to explore a tiny fraction of it. Living spaces, other colonies, the vast expanses, all of them would have been fun to explore. Theres also a lack of NPC's, so areas feel barren. Even the throne room of Aqland feels empty, theres the sleeping empress and her guard and thats it.
But then again, they did have limited resources for the game, and considering what the devs had to work with I think we got a good selection. Hopefully future DLC will expand on the game. As others including >>23698884 have said, the Hati questline feels rather incomplete, the only ending that really has any finality to it is if you let her be sacrificed at the church.
Some expansions on the questlines would be nice, as would some post-main story stuff, and maybe some more areas, NPC's, and side quests. I would like to see what happens to Hod after Nehma is killed.

>>
>>23699967
>Nemhra is a queen but shes certainly not a tree
I feel like there's a bit of semantics here.
In a sense, Nehma seems to be the "Queen" of Hod itself instead of being a Queen we know it by Nymph standards. She seems to be more or less the head AI/administrator of the whole structure. And that means she has control of the self-replicating cell/nanomchine functionalities of Hod. And that involves hand-crafting new Nymphs herself. And these specific group of Nehma made Nymphs are what we know as Seedlings. The Nymph creation/incubation process seems to be what we see in the PV and the few cocoons/sacs we see in the starting area of the game. Other Queens probably just copy that process.

The whole Queen system of Nymphs seem to just be basically just receiving an authorization key from Nehma to use the same tools she uses. And part of the process seems to be said Nymph being integrated into Hod itself via the tree process. And that's why after Eden's butthurt rebellion, there were no new Queens being created because the entity responsible for delegating access keys to Hod's self-replication systems is currently impaled as a lawn ornament.

Eden realized this, and tried a bunch of things, only ending in failure. From attempting to create her own Nymph-Queen process, which resulted in the tragic abomination that is Shara, a failed Queen that is only able to birth aborted Nymph parts. To creating her own puppet Nehma, something that also failed and only left batshit insane Nymphs like Silas, still delusively trying to create a new "holy progenitor". But at the end of the day, even Eden herself seems to have realized that Hod still recognizes Nehma as its master and everything she done is for nothing. Which is why she seems so defeated and barely doesn't even fight back when you finally confront her at the end of Alqand.

Eden is an interesting case because aside from the custom plasma handguns she made for herself, all her other gear loadout is older Arvud weaponry.
For the supposed fancy pants technologyfag colony that Alqand is, it's a bit weird that their leader personally chooses to use a bunch of older tech. Which is why I think Eden was an Arvud loyalist. Arvud was the first ever colony and Eden was most likely one of the Nymphs birthed by Queen Arvud herself. By default, Nymphs have an innate love and loyalty to their Queen, and I would presume Eden was quite the mommy's girl too.

However, since Hod is basically just Nehma playing antfarm goddess, Arvud was probably her control group/first ever case of deploying seedlings to destabilize and destroy a colony. Arvud eventually did fall. And Eden being smarter than most Nymphs realized that there was a shadow master orchestrating everything behind the scenes. And this grudge feud of wanting to avenge Queen Arvud culminated with her turning Nehma into a kebab.

Is the huge tree you see in the center of the Decayed Broodchamber supposed to be Queen Arvud's tree corpse? Nehma says that the hub area is quite literally Arvud Colony or at least what remains of it.

Nagara seems to have been the dominant colony in the lower levels before they too eventually fell to the Variant hordes.
Makes me think that after the fall of Arvud, a bunch of Nymph splinter groups with their own leaders broke off to better pastures and founded their own colonies. But most of the directionless Nymphs that stayed in the remains of Arvud and didn't align themselves with a new leader during the mass balkanization of Arvud were eventually united and brought under the banner of the Nymph that will later be known as Nagara. Her name change unlike her sisters probably being her attempt at a "rebirth" of Arvud.

People call them lolibots, but is that really representative for all of them? Going by the ant sociology Nymphs are very obviously patterned after, I was under the impression that:

Soldier Ants = Combat Nymphs = Young Teenage Girl size

Worker Ants = General/Factory Nymphs = Loli size
- Examples being Yoyo and the Nagara twins

>>

What I did was use a lightweight (Faluracarn) melee build, constantly jumping throughout the entire arena in a counterclockwise pattern, occasionally jumping up to one of the cores and hitting them with charged melee attack (greatsword). Point is to be faster and constantly move/jump in the air barely touching the ground because the box enemies will easily overwhelm if you stop, so you make them chase you instead and focus on hitting the cores. I also used chaffs to dodge missiles they would occasionally shoot. It's a pretty tricky fight, one of the hardest on hard mode, took me numerous tries, energy managment is a bitch in this one so tune your EP if you can. >>23706409
If you played the earlier AC games, you should generally have an intuitive idea of what the leg types are strong at.

Also handling stat = turning speed

Classic Bipeds
- All rounder reliable choice. No real strength or weakness. Thicker ones are quicker, and chonkier ones are sturdier

Reverse Joint Bipeds
- One of the quicker legs, great handling and low jump cost (but also overall lower jump height) if your playstyle demands that you bnuyyhop around like a motherfucker. Tends to be one of the more fragile leg types too.

Hot Wheels
- Gotta go fast. Most reliable and consistent ground speed in the game without boost or sacrificing armor for mobility. Decently sturdy. Trickier handling and shit jump height.

Rocket Legs
- The generally slower and less sturdy cousins of classic bipeds. Big dick jump heights. Kind of a meme really, but their jump height is practically required to reach some optional areas or hidden items

Tanks
- The classic AC tank. Big dick defense. Best carrying capacity. Worst handling and absolutely slow as hell. Surprisingly decent jump though.

Spider Legs
- The less mobility cucked alternative to Tanks. Actually best handling in the game. Second best carrying capacity. Good jump height too. Lorewise, the most complicated leg type to do maintenance on, and is reflected in gameplay by having noticeably more expensive repair costs.

Flight legs
- Best aerial performance. Ignores gravity and does perfect horizontal aerial movement as long as boost is active (literally all other legs do a downward angle movement affected by gravity while doing aerial boost). Allows shit like >>23700307. Respectable ground speed too. Generally fragile and low carrying capacity.

That's the general principle for each type barring some experimental units that play a bit more with the expectations of their category.

Akschully, the anti-grav thrust is a hidden stat assigned to all legs, and on FLs it's not quite = grav pull, so they still sink -- just very slowly. Raise that stat enough and you can actually boost up like in AC. I already did that, it's on nexus.

Huh. News to me. Neat.

But boost in this game doesn't really last long enough for you to notice the downward pull for FLs anyway.

Also,

I meant thinner ones are quicker.

There is one in the Forest in an elevator shaft, its the hardest to find. Every level has a red barrier that you cannot pass until you defeat the Unknown Unit and gain Nehmras eye.
>>
>>23706499
Yeah I got the eye not to long ago it's why I was looking just haven't played in a couple weeks and am having a brainfart, apparently there's another elevator shaft I haven't checked yet but I will later.
>>
>can't progress on upturned forest because current frame can't jump high enough
well that doesnt feel good

I don't think there are any mandatory paths in the game that are jump height locked. Some optional/hidden areas yes, but none for main scenario progression. You sure you just aren't exploring properly?
>>

The progress in that area is down an elevator

If you go FAT enough you can absolutely make yourself too fat to jump over some gaps.

Increasing the size of your frontal and rear kinetic dampeners should slightly increase your weight stat.

I beat the big eyeball getting my last code fragment. Looks like there is still a place to go after. Should I bang out the water treatment plant? I'm totally not saying this because the depths scares me.
>>

Water treatment plant is shrine of amana
Depths is tomb of the giants

the twist is that they're both super fun now because you can fly and throw light bulbs around
>>
>>23709137
Well boy howdy, that is good to hear. Guess I'll the water plant first. I'm still really trying to find a weapon I like. I don't care for most of the rifles but the game has grenade launchers. I like those a lot. Shame about always stuffing my dolls face with snacks because they are ammo hungry.

You cant really progress too much on water treatment plant without the item from the depths.
