>>23645404You need to think more corporate. To Toho the "main" godzilla fan demographics are being satisfied by Minus Zero and the GvK movies. Making an anime like this is an attempt to rope in a younger global demographic. It makes sense too since this style of anime is massive right now. The global success of stuff like JJK, Demon Slayer, MHA, and One Piece has probably emboldened them into thinking this could pay off. Timing wise it couldn't be better, My Hero Academia is finishing up and is going to leave a pretty huge hole in that market which this show, if done right could fill pretty smoothly.
