I'm currently rewatching the original to refresh myself for the sequel, but as I remember, Kayura, Anubis, Naaza and Rajura said that they were going to reform the empire of doom and the yoja would in general. So if this discount empire is around, does that mean they fail? I'm really interested in knowing the fate of Kayura and the other 3 Demon Generals. Were they weakened because of the Trooper's armors being destroyed in the OVA? That's my prevailing theory so far. When Ryo, Toma, Seiji, Shin and Xiu all had their armors destroyed and got new ones, the energies of the armors probably got dispersed and Kayura maybe sensed this and had to capture them and reforge them into the new armors for the new protags because if she didn't, it'd probably mean that Arago would be able to absorb it and reconstitute himself and the act of reforging it left her and the other Demon Generals vulnerable and now this discount Empire of Doom was able to rise in their place.

Even then though, my goodness are the Demon Generals' armors so much cooler than the Troopers'. Both design wise and the themes behind them. The entire purpose of why they exist is because they're not connected to Arago. Which is why I think they're the energies of the original Troopers' armors reforged by Kayura given that she's a kinsman to Kaos and would logically be the only person left alive who could do it. So you got Gai, Shion, Kaito, Yamato and Musashi tooling around as a new generation. This also potentially evens out the cast of protagonists with the antagonists as it would be 10 for 10 with Ryo, Seiji, Toma, Shin and Li-huang still having their OVA armors. Unless they've passed them down to their sons. They may could just be aliases given to humans that Ramaga recruited over the last couple decades. The Yoja world is the place between life and the afterlife. So unless the souls of the Ten Braves were stuck lingering in the Yoja world for 400+ years, they're probably acting under aliases similar to how the Demon Generals were when they were recruited into Arago's service.It'd also serve as an interesting contrast to the Demon Generals as each of them (except for Shuten Doji) is loosely based on an actual samurai from the warring states period, whereas the Sanada Braves are entirely fictitious as they were created in the Meiji era for children's stories. Maybe I'm overthinking it there, but it'd be neat if it came close to that.
