Let's talk about it or just gush about this marvel of fan work. Other Crossbone/Gundam manga discussion allowed too.https://x.com/tyuuboutyauyo/status/1997607022561493326?s=20https://youtu.be/F5kbEd1fwzk?si=ebvgmFlmUzN27htQ
>>23658775Man, Late U.C. really deserves a big animation initiative.
>>23658788Banrise execs in 2025 are 70% out of touch boomers and 30% chinese saboteurs
>>23658794At least we’re getting there. Also loved those blink and you miss it shots of the mainline Zanscare mobile suits
>>23658775>Anime ja nai>Fontou no koto saHonestly, Gundam would unironically be more popular if it was more like Crossbone. Sometimes it feels like most people that touch Gundam are trying their hardest to not accidentally make it fun.
>>23658788Right? Start with a remake of F91, flesh out all of the details that got cut from the movie. Maybe include F90 and make it a full-length series. Then go through Crossbone in order.
>>23658788Yeah, you can call it UC Next 0100 or something.
>Classic Gundam eye shatters>Reveals the evil looking Jupiter Technology slit-eyes insideMuh dick. There's a lot of stupid things in late-UC, but the Phantom/Ghost gundam really just ticks a lot of the chuuni/I don't give a shit, this is the coolest thing ever lizard brain response from me.
>>23659124Late UC doesn't really go full "What the fuck am I reading anymore" till Dust.In the very unlikely chance that they fully adapt a late UC storyline, I'm perfectly fine with just doing a F91->Crossbone->Ghost timeline.
>>23658788I'd love a silhouette formula and f90ff animation
>>23659131I wouldn't say that Dust is THAT crazy either.
>>23659102Are they really gonna do post-Victory stories?
>>23659176Sure. There are already quite a few of them, even not counting Turn A and G-Reco.
>>23659131> F91->Crossbone->Ghost timelineYou know, when you spell it out like that, this is effectively just Gundam AGE, but not terrible.
One of my favourite stupid things in Ghost is that the Phantom/Ghost Gundam is canonically such a half-assed and slapdashed bash of Earth and Jupiter tech. The engineers made it the intention of being a transforming Gundam with a transforming flight mode capable of interplanetary travel. They already finished the transforming frame, but when they couldn't quite make the Wings of Light work the way they wanted to, the chucklefucks just fucking welded the transforming bits shut. Oh those wacky Jovians. How did MC release the locked transformation frame? He fucking stabbed the Phantom Gundam with its own beam sabers to melt the welded bits, damage to the structural integrity of the Gundam's frame be damned. I love how no fucks given and stupid Crossbone can get man.
>>23658775Yeah, that's the music I picture in my head when I think of a giant burning pirate mech.
>>23658775that was done by the same guy who did the fanmade OP of the crossbone gundam right?https://youtu.be/gtRtaMWoYxM?si=Bv6n3Erd0WKetSRy>>23659237the whole crossbone setting is pretty silly with all the wacky shit going on everywhere, I'd say that is exactly a huge part of its charm
>>23659551Yep, that's the same guy
>>23659333I think of the Lazy Town song.
>>23659185Most of them are Crossbones, like the new one with three Crossbone Gundams and their female pilots. We know jack shit about that one.
X-0 Full Cloth my beloved.Gotta love Tobias' Crossbone Autism>Still choose to use a 20 year old unit that's roughly on par with the typical grunt suit of the current times>When it's time to "upgrade" it, use the exact same upgrade loadout also from 20 years ago that even for its time, was literally just cobbled together from whatever garbage they found on the garage floor
>>23658794They're not out of touch, most consumers only care about early UC. The only people who care about late UC are a minority of hardcore Gundam fans.
>>23660052I'm getting really fucking sick of OYW spinoffs.
>>23660063Good for you. Now shut up and buy another fucking zaku.
>>23660072Never.
>>23659131I, personally, hope that they will flesh out the period between F91 and Victory. There's the rest of Cosmo Babylonia war, Cosmo Cruz stuff, six potential F9 Gundam models in development, Federation losing control over Sides, events that led to rise of Zanscare in Side 2, aftermath of First Oldsmobile War in Mars Sphere, continuent MHA activities: plenty of things you can explore.
>>23660080Fine, buy Zaku (Late UC).
>>23660041For me it's Judau's ZZ autism that showcases just how crazy arms race during Gryps and First Neo Zeon war went.Because let's be honest, things haven't changed much between F91 and Victory tech wise, which is why Federation was comfortable still rocking Jamesguns and Javelins.
>>23660093What am I looking at here?
>>23660041If it works, it works.
I'm very behind in Crossbone, to Font and Belle hook up?
>>23660160More or less. They spent 15 years sleeping in the same bed. Font (AKA Ghost) is now dicking around the civil war earth sphere as a space pirate with his 27 year old (12 year old) legal loli GF.
>>23660112Zakurao from original Crossbone. Appeared in a blink and miss fashion among the colonial reinforcements during the final battle.
>>23660189Who's the loli?
>>23658775Sunrise, hire this man!
>>23658788No because the mangas are garbage and the only passable one is the first crossbone. Tomino won't ever touch the setting again so it will be shit.
>>23660255It's okay anon, not everyone can handle the Hasegawa cinema.
>>23659838>We know jack shit about that one.Somehow Crux returned.
>>23660274I'm all for any stupid fun, but Hasegawa shits are just stupid shit, without any fun nor artistic merit.
>>23660424On the contrary, it's fun, got some pretty good action and honestly, makes a decent amount of sense when not viewed through the lens of mangled summaries out of context.
>>23660093I would've if they actually make more late UC kits
>>23660437who is this supposed to be?
>>23660464White Strawberry Suzuki, Rosemary's daughter. She drew an in universe manga based on her mom's novel about Steel 7 events.
That opening animation cut from where the Ghost saved Belle and got its left Gundam eye shattered to reveal the Jovian eye underneath was animated so fucking cool that I am now guilty of getting the Robot Damashii Ghost at like a 2000 yen premium from its release price.Goddamit.
>>23660481The funniest part is that she added fanfic about her mom fucking every member of the crew
>>23660532>addedI'd assume that she was true to the original source. Now actually drawing the act, that's crazy.
I just noticed that the enhanced beam plating that gives the Ghost its iconic silver look shattered and peeled off during the final clash. I thought that this was just a liberty the animator made to make things look cooler, but I take a peek at the manga again and lo and behold it was also there. Some details really just need to be in color to really pop out at you.
>>23660555Surprisingly progressive for Gundam, considering it was probably the first Yuri in gundam. And they got further than Gwitch!
>>23660041grunts wish they were as cool as a crossbone gundamit also reminds that at the start of ghost they literally break out a Zaku II from a museum and no one can fucking hit it because none of the enemies computers even have data of such an old piece of shit so their sensors can't even recognize what is it in the first place
>>23660566Nah it's kind of a major point in the manga too and explicitly called out too.
>>23660532Well, she'd certainly approve.
>>23660566the midas is such a great design
>>23660898Yes, but it only got explicitly called out that the anti-beam plating was falling apart after the Ghost started melting itself from the overheat of its Minovsky Drive after that massive omni beam ejaculation. But it was already happening even when the Ghost was having a slugfest against the Midas. It was just hard to notice if you're caught up in the fast-paced fight and monochrome nature of manga.
>>23660891>grunts wish they were as cool as a crossbone gundamThe "Grunt Suit" circa the time that Tobias was still dicking around in his X-0 Jalopy was the Zoloat. And the Zoloat was pretty fucking cool. And on the topic of Ghost era evil mooks, some people have said that the bad guy suits in Ghost look too goofy to be adapted properly, but this fanmade PV convinced me that if treated with the right gravitas and seen in motion, they actually look pretty cool and intimidating. The only one that's a hard sell to be taken seriously is the one that's literally just a fucking Dogu.
The Crossbone series has a reputation for being goofy, but I think its view on evolution/new type/tech development is underappreciated.A lot of Late UC material is stuck on pretentious hoity toity newtype space wizards as the successors and leaders of humanity, but Tobia already made his stance clear on newtypes just being humans adapted for navigating the void of space instead of whatever esoteric nonsense that other series is peddling. And Font/Ghost's capabilities and skills being augmented by advanced AI tech is a nice change of pace from protagonists being space wizards that pilot robots. Even Font's sociopath episodes that came from overloading his brain with the advanced AI augmented computations from the Ghost is a surprisingly more timely plot point on how people can slowly lose their humanity after getting too deep in the "efficient" and pragmatic processes of technology.
It's pretty funny that one of the spookiest and most "evil" looking main character Gundams out there is also the Gundam that canonically has a bubbly anthropomorphized bishoujo Haro as its operating system. Never change Hasegawa.
>>23661110where can I see this?
>>23661170Read the manga. Or you know, watch the video in the OP. Its pretty much a highlight reel of the characters and best moments in the series.
>>23661110And to think that Haroro is only the second best Haro of the era...
>>23661521Also love the neat callback to Victory's OP (considering that both stories literally take place concurrently). We have a horizontal lineup of the main supporting cast gradually appearing in on a ambient background. A sequence of which is capped off by a Haro popping in from outside the screen. You could also count the rapidfire cuts of the pilots being strained with speedlines and all just before the chorus drops. But that's a bit more of a stretch.
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm20827676https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5705519I wonder how far into UC crossbone will go i know Seerauber goes to UC 170+
>>23661548There's also shot that goes from Phantom to the Earth and oval Sun with flare that mirrors one from Victory OP.
>>23661585What you really asking is how long Hasegawa will be forced by Gundam Ace to work in Crossbone mines?
>>23661591Will we reach a point where he has to acknowledge either g savior or gaia gear?
>>23661548I always thought it was a neat design choice that Haroro looks like a more contemporary otaku oriented moe character compared to the rest of the characters which are stuck in Hasegawa's trademark late 80's early 90's manga style. The disconnect really helps sell that Haroro was the pet project of a bunch of nerdy otaku. Like, even in-universe there's a distinction between how people normally look and how 2D otaku stuff looks. Also shows that Hasegawa is perfectly capable of a more contemporary artstyle, but I guess he really just prefers his own style.
>>23661593Closest crossing point with G-Saviour would be 25 years after Seerauber with Freedom roll out. Possible, if Hasegawa would still be up to drawing Gundam manga in his 80s and Gundam Ace wouldn't be closed. But more likely Banrise will acknowledge them by themselves before that would be able to happen. Someone did give greenlight for a Zorin Soul cameo in F90 Fastest Formula after all.
Caanyone give more info on Seerauber? What the fuck is it even about?
>>23661665So, main characters is an actual pirate crew formed by ex-Cyber Newtype lab geezers to provide for three girls that they worked on after their funding got cut + a failed lead actor from a B-movie that the girls think of as a real thing. In the beginning, they raided a cargo ship that got an arm of a ~20 meter tall MS called "30" that was supposedly a part of a plan by Crux to destroy the Earth Sphere in case he failed and died. And so it becomes a hunt for the parts of that mobile suit. Also Tobia, Font and Ash return and the rival faction is supposedly headed by a clone of Crux.Basically, it's a Crossbone 30th anniversary manga.
>>23661689Interesting stuff.
>>23661689>TobiaChrist, just let the poor bastard get some rest already. He's probably the UC protagonist that has gotten the most amount of action in his lifetime.
>>23661715>He's probably the UC protagonist that has gotten the most amount of action in his lifetime. No, but close.
>>23661732His only actual showings are in his own starring series and ironically, a couple of bit roles in other Hasegawa manga. Not unless you want to get really weird with that whole Ideon connection.
>>23661741Gundam Evolve as well.
>>23661715let's recap>average Joe who got caught up between the battle of the jupiter empire, the crossbone vanguard and the earth federation>steals a gundam (x-2) later receives the x-3 which is pivotal for defeating the big bad>old guard of the vanguard retires and he takes the mantle as new space pirate captain>cue in some random shenanigans, being the most important one the fight vs the Amakusa (amuro's copy)>steel 7 chapter, recruits a bunch of assholes to stop a colony laser firing against the earth>manages to do so but he ends up blind and with an awesome tan after seeing said laser figre at point blank range>reappears one more time in the x-0, basically an ancient relic by the time he shows up to serve as Font's mentor and stop another bunch of genocidal assholesTobia is probably one of the most experienced pilots in the whole UC, not only due to all the time he spent in conflict, but how he adapted and made use of the latest tech as it was being developed
this is so silly
>>23661824You forgot a few key details>average Joe who got caught up between the battle of the jupiter empire, the crossbone vanguard and the earth federationAlso had a war against Earth deers.>cue in some random shenanigansYou can't just sweep the skirmish against Garma's Newtype Monkeys under the rug like that.>reappears one more time in the x-0, basically an ancient relic by the time he shows up to serve as Font's mentor and stop another bunch of genocidal assholesThere's also the events of the X-11 manga after that.
>>23661920Well, assuming Minovsky particle interference and Jupiter Sphere not accounting for RF series still possibly being in use, it's not even that far-fetched.
>>23661929>deertruly his greatest enemy
>>23661937it's pretty silly if you think about it anymore than the manga wants you toit's rad as fuck if you don't and keep your brain off
>>23662193To be fair, you can say that about a lot of things in Gundam in general.
>>23660220Belle?>>23660189You forgot Font read Dune and decided that the Golden Path was a neat idea.
>>23661974The only thing Hasegawa can't draw well is people, huh.
>>23660093Hell, I'd buy it.
>>23660041he does it again later btw
>>23662304if it works, it works
>>23660041>>23662304Let's be real here.If I had a gear setup that successfully saved the fucking earth in what pretty much everyone agreed to be was a suicide mission, AND I left that mission still alive, then I'd be using that loadout whenever I can too.
>>23662730funny thing is the full cloth of the X-0 was even shittier as they barely had any leftover parts to pull the same trick again
>>23659060Been saying this forever. I would love an F91 remake into the tv show it should have been.
>>23661824This is the kind of story I want to watch. Not G-Bitch or the 157th remake or retelling of 0079.
>>23662869a crossbone series is long overdue and at this point, I don't think we will ever get it
Divinidad HG plz
>>23662304That one was actually upgraded.
>>23662227Nah, the way he draws people is a conscious choice. You don't draw people the same way for 30 years and not get better at it.
>>23662965IIRC it got some minor upgrades related to the blindness thing, but it's roughly on par with a high end grunt suit (with the non-full cloth version being equal to a normal grunt)
>>23662987Pretty sure that Fata Morgana Vogel got Minovsky Drive.
>>23660437It's even worse when you read the thing and not the the summaries. Every successive Crossbone dials up the stupid. At some point you just realize Hasegawa does this for the sake of doing it to stand apart from the rest of Gundam. I am fine wit Crossbone of it stops being part of UC
>>23663104>It's even worse when you read the thing and not the the summaries. Every successive Crossbone dials up the stupid. And have you done that? Surely, you can give examples of what makes Crossbone that much more stupid than the regular UC, in particular the latest ones starting with Dust.>At some point you just realize Hasegawa does this for the sake of doing it to stand apart from the rest of Gundam.I'd say that he just draws what he likes, but honestly, knowing his body of work, he does restrain himself to better fit UC Gundam.
Narrative and G-cuck came out in the past few years. Hasegawa is downright completely sane compared to more recent official UC entries which amped up the esoteric nonsense.
>>23663137Not saying that you're incorrect in what you mean, but>Narrative>the past few yearsAnon...
>>23663029Is that from Dust? Haven't read past Ghost
>>23663296It's from X-11, but the Full Cloth variant is from Seerauber.
>>23663320Oh, I thought it was the the silver version from Phantom. So... how do they go from minovsky drive on everything to "we can't afford beams or zakus"?
>>23663322Minvosky Drive equipped Mobile Suits literally drained their money. There came a point where they realized: "Maybe we shouldn't strap on these fucking expensive things all willy-nilly to the stuff we make."
>>23663322>>23663329the premise of Dust is that as time goes by, the hold of the earth continues to weaken, colonies devolve into warring states with everyone at each other's throatseconomical power is on decline everywhere and so is knowledge, basic engineering and production lines have declined to the point everyone is scavanging mobile suit wrecks all around space, from the OYW to whatever last conflict was fought at this point, patching them with literal duct tape and they are good to gotrying to address such a major issue is why Font is kind of an asshole now, as if this goes on, all the technological progress that allowed the UC in the first place is going to be lost at this rate
>>23663330>why Font is kind of an asshole nowWhat does he do? And does his loli companion not act like his conscience that deters him his assholery or is she also on-board with his actions?
>>23663322It is a replica of a silver version from Phantom, mixed with Jupiter tech including their knock-off degraded Minovsky Drive found on Phantom (that was originally on more Jupiter like X-12 and is attached to X-11 via Core Block).>So... how do they go from minovsky drive on everything to "we can't afford beams or zakus"?That is uniquely a problem of Earth sphere colonies after Anaheim stopped flooding the market with newly made MS not that long before Victory. That's why some poor neighbors of Zanscare at Side 2 still used Heavyguns, when even Jamesguns and Javelins of EFF were considered antiques.EFF themselves did have production facilities and in Dust reverse engineered and improved Phantom bringing it to almost Victory 2 level.
>>23663340he is trying to solve the situation by creating 3 major powers that hold themselves in check (earth, jupiter and the colonies) and allow progress to resumeHe immediately joined the Feds for this plan and takes some very hard decisions that ultimately will yield better results for everyone (moving 2000 children from one colony to another to avoid stressing the former and where the latter can actually still get food and education, for example), although he does things in a very roundabout way that puts him at odds with his old friends (the kid that was going to be beheaded prior to the Phantom's activation, the tanned chick of the black Victory gundam that had a thing for him)Belle is aboard with his plan and goes by Corpse Bride now lmao
>>23663350>from Phantom,*from Ghost of course.
>>23663350really? Does Phantom get better than the silver form? That was already pretty much V2 level
>>23663353So Font is not only fucking Tobia's daughter, but he pretty much converted her to be his devoted partner, chuuni shit and all lmao. How's Tobia and Tetenith handling all this shit? Or are they secretly on-board with this too with the tried and tsted "I know he's a good person and that all his looney tunes shit is ultimately for the good for everyone" cope?
>>23663353>Belle is aboard with his plan and goes by Corpse Bride now lmaoThat's actually adorable. The guy that goes around calling himself "Ghost" is followed around by a loli calling herself "Corpse Bride".Never fucking change Hasegawa lmao.
>>23663364>>23663368To be fair, in the Dust era, people just went around giving themselves chuuni as fuck aliases and epithets. It was simply the style at the time.
>>23663370>at the time
>>23663364Tobia and Tetenith are under house arrest in Jupitertheir son, Nicole, and Belle's brother is the guy dicking around in the X-11 >>23663320
>>23663381oh also, funny enough, the guy cries about "not looking like his father at all", despite looking just like a younger Tobia back from the first crossbone manga lmao
Once again, I'm reminded that Seabook and Tobia are one of the very few Gundam protagonists that aren't autistic about their love interests and has a normal loving relationship with them whereas they keep pumping them full of kids.
>>23663363Yeah, it gets upgraded to Phantom V2 and then Phantom V2 Custom. It also gets mass-produced.>>23663381No, X-11 is Tobia's suit. Nicole only gets a less performant X-13.
>Crossbone Dust>There is no titular "Dust Gundam"
>>23663389>It also gets mass-produced.Pic related.
>>23663389>>23663395I thought Hasegawa wasn't allowed to surpass victory level. and the Silver Phantom was already pretty much equal to the V2. How does the Phantom V2 compare?
>>23663392Anchor V4 is nicknamed Crossbone Gundam Dust, despite not really being a Crossbone (and depending on how you'd want to define it a Gundam)
>>23663401They are all at best on par with Victory 2 (and Zanspine) in terms of raw performance, though one can say that they got more interesting equipment.Basically it is more or less the same tech level with minor tweaks and proper Crossbones of that time are around Zoloat's level still.
Wasn't Phantom pretty much just an inferior Jovian knockoff of the V2? Its iconic ghostly flames, while absolutely rad as hell, is an obvious design oversight of the Jovians being absolutely shit at integrating and utilizing the Minovsky drive. Hence all that exhaust and wasted output it shits out as the ghost flames.
>>23663427Base Phantom is a worse V2, mainly because it overheats, but it also has full body I-fields to compensate. Silver Phantom solves the overheating issue, keeps the full body I-fields, and can even "shape" the flames to create curving beam attacks. And of coyrse, fully functioning WoL and cruise mode
>>23663427Yeah, but then again, V2's Wings of Light themselves are a design oversight that makes Minovsky Drive hard to use near friendly MS. Uso is just a mad lad.Leaky ghostly flames, while more inefficient at their primary purpose, are actually easier to deal with for relatively normal pilots.
>>23663436"Silver Phantom" resolves the issue by introducing coolant cartridges, but it still is half slower than Victory 2 and overheating peels off silver anti-beam coating.
It's so hard ot find fanart of the crossbones, aside from the main one of course
>>23660532oh wow you weren't kidding about thatlmao
>>23660437Which one is this from? I don't recall her in Ghost. Anchor is still incomplete last I checked and no idea on the status of X11 and Seerauber.
>>23663862it is a one shot called "The Truth of the Thunderbolt of Zeus Project"short but hilarious as hell as seen here >>23663858 as rosemary portrayed herself as a mary sue who banged all the steel 7 crew (minus Tobia) and almost single handedly won that fightby the way, was the full Steel 7 manga ever translated? I can't findf it anywhere besides some raws
>>23663865Yes, but I read it on Comick. Pretty sure it was Zeonic translated...
>>23663865Haven't checked in a while but last I checked it was up on mangadex in it's entirety.
>>23663875tried there but they took it down for some reason
>>23663878Must have been lost in that recent super purge the site suffered. It's from Zeonic so you can probably dig it up from kemono
Steel 7 was Lolfang and Nozaku, not Zeonic. Deacon seems allergic to Crossbone for whatever reason. Maybe we'll finally get it in 2026, but that'll be doubtful given he has yet to finish a title in that series outside the original
>>23663858wait till you get to the sex scene
incredibly enough there is a scanlation of Steel 7 in Spanish of all languages
>>23663858>Belle pretty much reading smut while Font is just right behind her
>>23664013lmao.
>>23664013who is the guy in the bottom middle panel? don't tell me it is Kizo but the uniform kinda looks like him
https://x.com/tyuuboutyauyo/status/1998779634297479332Looks like Hasegawa himself acknowledged and praised the Fanmade PV on his blog.https://x.com/t_kotobuki/status/1998131667891097800Tsukasa Kotobuki, lead character designer and animation director for THE ORIGIN among a bunch of other /m/ related stuff also praised the PV.

>>23664014>Bernadette projecting her Dogatie genetical evilnessthat shit really made me laugh>>23664030nice to read how the author of the work was so impressed by that fan video, because it really is a great portrayal of the major scenes of the whole story
>>23664035Why does this look like a hobo Zabine
>>23664014>>23664037I fucking swear, Nicole probably only exists because of Tobia's recent earth missions during the events of Ghost.>btw dear, the League Militaire only agreed to help me out because the captain of their all female squadron thought I was hotPoor Tetenith had to do some rape correction on her manwhore of a husband.
>>23664037Even if you know nothing of or aren't a fan of Crossbone, the video is a very impressive work carried by one dedicated fan. Although the many stills that depict the events of Crossbone/Skullheart/Steel7 near the start were apparently done by a bunch of guest artists. All of which were also huge Crossbone fans.I was also surprised to find out that the song was an entirely original song made for the video itself. https://x.com/tyuuboutyauyo/status/1997615382665011465In a humorous anecdote, the creator of the video said that he pretty much locked the composer/lyricist of the song in his house for days at end and made him binge watch/read the F91 prequels, F91 itself and all the Crossbone series till Ghost until his mind broke.
>>23664070I do this to everyone who comes into my house too.
>>23664070>he pretty much locked the composer/lyricist of the song in his house for days at end and made him binge watch/read the F91 prequels, F91 itself and all the Crossbone series till Ghost until his mind broke.wtf bronow that is PASSION
>>23664076Despite his fight scene being in the video, he also said that he made it a point to not include a certain Baker as part of the people that made explicit appearances. While the video is a series highlight reel of the best parts of Ghost, he said that he didn't want to ruin ALL the surprises. This is the kind of autistic love and passion for something that I genuinely respect.
>>23664013>>23664035>Belle hanging out in Font's bedroomGetting real hard to defend yourself against those allegations Font.
>>23664082>certain Bakerit was funny se him hop in the X-0 and perform better than Curtis despite how long he spent away from mobile suits
>>23664147I mean, Curtis is a literal blind cripple. Cut him some slack. The Baker on the other hand is a cyborg cripple. He can still keep up full performance of his body, provided that he oils up his arm every now and then.It also helps that the Baker knew his wife was in danger, so he obviously had massive urgency stat buffs.
>>23664137It's DUST era so it's genuinely hard to say how you're supposed to count their ages at this point. Besides, she's still the most normal person in Font's harem.
>>23660255>Tomino won't ever touch the setting againGood, UC is only good when Tomino isn't writing it.
>>23664035Arnold's wife is cute (not talking about Font in this particular instance)

bros, I'm reading Ghost and it is so fucking good
>>23664041That's the protagonist of Seerauber, btw.
>>23660255>>23660424I won't tell you to consider suicide. Instead I'll tell you to skip that step entirely and go for it.
>>23664052>if we are gonna get raped I prefer to get banged by the good looking guycan't argue with that logic
>>23664905welp, I read the whole thing in 2 days, honestly it has been a long time since I encountered such a satisfactory taleit has so many winks and callbacks to both, previous UC events and Hasegawa's own works. The fact it is parallel story to Victory with its own stakes, which are perhaps even a bigger threat than what Uso faced due to the killer virus helps to make the Ghost story stand out on its ownthe circus mobile suits were perhaps too wacky for me, but the Desphys and the Phantom are super designs along with the MidasFont's character was perhaps my favorite part because the author ditches entirely the newtype magic bullshit out of the window. In all his fights he must make use of every tech advantage, pattern and calculation he can get a hold to to come out on top. The whole sequence of how he intercepts the nuke had me on the edge the whole time and is perhaps one of the greatest feats anyone has accomplished in the entire gundam universeThe best part was Curtis assesment at the end: Font is not a newtype, but something else entirely, thus breaking the mantra of the newtype bullshit that has plagued so much the last animated UC worksI'd have appreciated the ending explored a bit more the fate of the rest of the cast but Hasegawa's crafty hands avoided that precisely to keep pumping more crossbone mangas. Is that a good or a bad thing? I dunno but it is such a massive saga it may as well be considered its own universe at this point. It really saddens me it has been neglected this much to get its own series
>>23665197Seeing a main character Gundam (especially one I like) get viscerally irrevocably get fucked like this always makes me sad.Losing an arm, head or leg? That's just cool battle damage. If the story demands that a suit needs to be taken out of the story and permanently KO'd. Just make them go in a massive explosion with all the nasty details obscured. But focused kill cams like this is a kick in the balls with steel-toed boots. Yes, you can figure out that narratively, this suit is done for. And just to drive home the point, here's a detailed snuff shot of it. It's pretty much just mecha guro.
>>23665307you mean the X-0? it was long overdue to get a panel of it getting BTFO like >>23664905even in steel 7 the bad guy does not destroy the suit like that
>>23665312X-0 proper isn't in Steel Seven thoughbeit
>>23665319I mean a crossbone gundam in general getting rekt:- X-2 just gets its pilot killed and we never see it again despite being almost intact- X-3 blew itself up to finish Dogatie- X-1 is almost gets totalled in the first fight Tobia has with Calisto Shadow, they patch it up as the Full Cloth and ends as a entirely scorched wreck- Tobia was just tempting fate at that point with the X-0 and I think that panel also serves to close a chapter for the F97 series>>23664052remember quite a few ladies had their eyes on him: Berah's cousin got all hot and bothered when he bitchslapped her; Twink (the little girl that lived alone in an asteroid) called him "her prince", even in Ghost; and Europa fell for him entirely
>>23665307What are the other protagonist/good guy that suits get brutally fucked in visceral detail like this anyway? For most of them, they either just flat out explode or evaporate, the gory details spared from the viewers. Maybe they get to see the massive hole from a beam first and THEN it blows up after a dramatic pause for a couple of seconds. But something as raw as >Here is the suit bisected in half from the top and you get to see it's internal mechanisms completely seared and spilling outseems to be a rare occurrence.
>>23665335when Wing selfdestructed they clearly showed how much a wreck it ended up beingExia's duel with the GN Flag showed both of them getting sliced to ribbonsbut I don't think anything comes close as seeing a gundam being split in half like that
I'm a bit sad that Font didn't develop a love for the Ghost paint the same way that Tobia developed an autistic love for the Full Cloth. The Phantom's bright green doesn't quite sit right with me.
>>23665327I always thought the X2 dissapearing was weird. You'd assume it would reapppear for Steel 7 as either replacement for the destroyed Skull Heart, l then molded into the new SHFC or one of the Steel 7 units.
>>23658794It's not that they are out of touch and more like they already experienced late UC flops with F91, Victory, and G-saviour
>>23665713Well, it exploded pretty good (for some reason), so it makes sense not much can be recovered.
>>23665601more like puke green
is the prequel F91 manga scanlated beyond the first volume?
How many Crossbone units are there? I know there's X-0 through 3, and they get rebuilt and reshuffled around a bunch, but then there's X-13 which I guess is the one with minovsky drive? What happened to 4 through 12?
>>23666492Which one? There's a bunch. The F90 ones? The silhouette formula ones?
>>2366715711, 12 and 13 are Jovian copies with their own twists, they start again at 11, there's no 4 to 10
>>23667157>>23667177>I know there's X-0 through 3>there's no 4 to 10If you wanna be a pedantic ass about it, the X-0 as we know it, was part of the original package of F97s (AKA the Crossbones) to be delivered to the Vanguard, but it was lost during transport after an accident and was effectively just scrubbed away from records and inventory. So following established nomenclature, the X-0 should've been the actual X-3. And the X-3 that we do know of would've been the X-4.Tobi- er, I mean Curtis, being the chuuni as fuck dork that he is decided to rechristen the missing Crossbone as the "X-0" because 0 is cool and mysterious and shit. Fitting for a Crossbone that officially didn't exist in records.
>>23667212Its funny to realize that Tobia is singlehandedly responsible for totalling three out of four of the original Crossbones
>>23658775I just wish they animate Gaia Gear. I want to see Char and Lalah get a happy ending.
>>23667216Crossbones are great because htey're allowed ot get destroyed, and patching them up only makes them more badass. They hit the sweet spot between Mary Sue "Enemies can't even scratch my paint" and Victory "It's not a real fight unless you go through three pairs of legs"
>>23667224>I want to see Char and Lalah get a happy endingGQuX came this year, bro
>>23665335Barbatos, gets his head paraded around in a spike. Do the Victories count?
>>23667268their relationship in gquuuuuux was forced.
>>23667162this one>>23667216just realized that, lol, yeah he trashed 3 out of the 4 crossbones and lived to tell the tale, what a chad
>>23667271Yeah, the Victory series got trashed fairly often. They skirted around this by mostly destroying sections, while the main core section only being destroyed in fighter mode... but the V Hexa gets destroyed outright in the last few episodes.
I love the Crossbone books but this still greatly bothers my autism. Is anyone else kinda aggravated by the introduction of aliens in any capacity to the UC, microbe or not? Just seems like something that should be in the UC Bible: "No aliens". It's fine when AUs dabble in it, or keep it vague like the Turn X being from outside the solar system. That could just mean it was made by humans from far off colonized space. I was waiting on the twist that it wasn't an alien organism at all and just some kinda bio weapon that Zeon/Titans/Jupiter had cooked up in secret in some distant top secret space lab and was deemed too dangerous for use.
>>23667895I think alien microbes and viruses are really cool and fit UC fine, it's not like they're talking aliens or anything. It's a reasonable plot point in an interplanetary setting, there's a good chance at life on a few moons. As an aside Hasegawa's V sidestory kinda hints that Turn X was made by Judau's group who leaves.
>>23667895Genuinely just your autism. The space microbes are absolutely nothing compared to what we had before.>Before Crossbone came into canon, Jupiter used to be haunted by shapeshifting aliens that would turn into your worst nightmares
this thread made me go and rewatch the F91 movie and holy shit what a mess it is, there are a lot of scenes you can't really make heads or tails, not to mention the obvious time skips that are supposed to happen between themmaybe the funniest is the chick that defects from the Crossbone Vanguard, has a hateboner against Zabine and he offs her, everything in less that 5 minutesthe animation is fucking gorgeous
Why does Bandai avoid late UC like the plague anyway?
>>23668188>MUH ZEON
>>23667895While I can kinda agree, I feel like "alien virus" is well within the setting when newtypes and time travel are a thing. Also, Hasegawa had already introduced Psychics as a different thign from Newtypes, so it's not like it's his first time adding new fantasy elements into the universe. It's not like they're little green men in fishbowl helmets, a space rock with angry amoebas feels like something we could come across today
>>23668199if anything, alien viruses who are absolutely lethal to humans seems more plausible than little green men
>>23668192funny how side 3 ended up in Ghost lmao
>>23668188They literally don't anymore. You can't say that as of like 5 years ago or so. Right now, late UC is completely in a renaissance.
>>23667895I dunno, space pathogens that can fatally fuck up humans seems pretty reasonable to me (Although I think it'd be fine if it just shuts down the bodily systems of people instead of literally turning them to fucking goo. That latter part is a bit silly). At the very least, it seems way more grounded than Newtypes literally just being fucking space wizards as lots of recent UC material tends to paint them as.
>>23668206I dunno, they have it pretty good.>Space Nazi regime collapses>Completely cucked out of any military potential by the federation>For the next half century or so, just becomes a civilian side>Ignored in most conflicts because they don't have much military worth and they don't really give a shit about muh independence anymore>Since they're not wasting money on mobile suits and war efforts anymore, all their tech autism is redirected to creating a booming industry of domestic technology and AI researchPeople there live quietly with presumably the best non-military technology in UC.
>>23668250exactlyso much for the space nazis preaching about MUH INDEPENCE, MUH MILITERAY POWAHAlso, saw some of the literal frankenstein shit the Dust manga pulls and holy hell they are hilarious, like a mobile suit digging up the shield of a GP02 and using it as a torso
>>23668262>>23668250Pretty sure the later writers did that to basically be an allegory for post WW2 Japan.
>>23658775The animation is amazing, but what the fuck is that music choice
Remind me, which side ended up becoming Cosmo Babylonia? It was one that had appeared earlier in one of the shows right?
>>23668340It's anisong as fuck by choice. It's an original song made for the video. Not a fan of the vocalist they chose, but its pretty much a Nana Mizuki hype anisong in all the best ways possible.
>>23668359Cosmo Babylonia was formed from a forced takeover of Side 4. I don't think it appeared in any serious capacity before from the show though.
>>23668359side 4, specifically in the frontier colonies
>>23668262I mean, all the bloodthirsty spergs from Side 3 just fucked off to create their own Zeon spinoffs and wage their own little wars anyway.
>>23668199>>23668201It's even funnier because Ghost takes place concurrently with Victory. So on one side, you have a madman about to unleash a superweapon that emits retardification brainwashing rays on earth. And on the other side, you have a madman about to unleash a virus bomb on earth.People like to poke fun at Hasegawa's wild rides, but its absolutely nuts that Ghost has a comparatively much less ridiculous plot than Victory. Mind you I don't hate how wacky late-UC can get. In fact, I love it. But I don't like how some people claim that late-UC has become Hasegawa's playground of insanity, when if anything, his touches are the ones that keep it on the rails while still keeping the crazier wild west feeling that late-UC has established for itself.
>>23668391The Clown Squadron is what most people see to justify that. But a lot of them were actually pretty well thought out and even had interesting designs with useful gimmicks. Others (cough the final one cough) were absolute shit shows though
Speaking of the silliness of Angel Halo, wasn't there a more recent UC manga that revealed that Angel Halo was actually supposed to be one of Scirocco's designs in his long term master plan?
>>23668394the ball one and the very last one that slapped together parts of every other model were shit
>>23668394>>23668401The Desphys is unironically one of the coolest bad guy suit designs in UC. Hell, even in Gundam as a whole for me.Do you know how much black magic you need to make Fedora's fucking cool again. This guy pulled it off.
>>23668408I think being silver helps
The Thocus suits are just fine. Even the worst ones don't look any sillier from the more experimental Zeon suits/MAs from the OYW.Though the Lalo (Clown on a ball) and the Banzo (literally just a Dogu doll IN SPACE) are definitely the weakest ones.
reading the crossbone mangas from the original up to ghost during the last week made me sad there are literally ZERO model kits/figures of the jovian suitswell, there is HG of the Dictus with the clever hand MA mode and the Elegorela head the Metal Build X-3, but that aside there is nothing elsethe Batalla would be a great army builder, the Amakusa would be an instant hit due to the whole amuro thing, the death gale squad is also great, Desphys with the literal fedora for memes is too good to pass up >>23668408 and the Midas is another great chance for electroplated scams
>>23668418>there are literally ZERO model kits/figures of the jovian suitsACKSHUALLY, the Ghost and Phantom are Jovian suits (they're officially unit 2 of the Thocus suits in production designation even) and they both have HGs and Robot Damashii releases.
>>23668422>they're officially unit 2 of the Thocus suits in production designation evenThat kinda makes things even funnier. Everything in their squad is very clearly Circus themed (Thocus read out in Katakana sound similar to "Circus" even), but then they went "Also lets put in a fed gundam design in the squad for marketing purposes lol"
>>23668422don't kid ourselves, they only made those because it recycles like 80% of the mold of the hg crossbones
>>23668425even worse when the Phantom is deemed as an absolute failure due to those wacky jovians copying shit they could not even understand so the damn thing was never turned on in the first place
>>23668416Alexa, play the clown music
>>23668418I think the small size is offputting for people, they'd feel like they're getting less bang for their buck
>>23668430https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNv2RHR62Rs&list=RDNNv2RHR62Rs&start_radio=1lmao
>>23668399>wasn't there a more recent UC manga that...Walpurgis.Probably he most in your face fanfiction tier gundam story out there.>What is bad guy.... WAS REINCARNATED AS GOOD GUY!!?!11I should hate everything about this manga, but I ended up kinda adoring how shameless it is.>>23668432The RG Crossbones are considerably smaller than the other RGs, but they're also viewed as one of the best RG releases. I don't really size is a problem as long as the end result kit is pretty good.
>>23668433the worst part is that this song was originally meant to be the entrance song for gladiators. That's literally the title, "Entry of the Gladiators"
>>23668437Yeah but the crossbones have the benefit of looking extremely cool and having A TON of gimmicks. A batalla with a rifle and whatever melee weapon it carries would be crap unless it sells for 10 bucks
>>23668437>I don't really size is a problem as long as the end result kit is pretty good.supposedly, fatcat, the chinese brand that made 1/100 upscaled kits fo the RG RX78 2.0 and the God gundam will release the Crossbone gundam next
>>23668437I though Walpurgis was an Isekai alt-UC
>>23668464>I believe reddit slop at face value
>>23668408Fedoras look good on anything that isn't an edgy tryhard.
>>23668437Only good thing out of Walpurgis was the Oldtype using the frankenstein Gundam to make Scirocco shit his pants after he was grandstanding about Newtype superiority. Unfortunately they even ruined that by not having the Oldtype actually defeat him.>>23668464Might as well be with all the dumb bullshit it does.>Scirocco invented the Angel Halo and even made a prototype version>You know, Scirocco wasn't evil. He was just a misunderstood guy :)Fuck that. Genuinely one of the worst Gundam mangas I've read in a good while.
>>23668829>Scirocco invented the Angel Halo and even made a prototype versionHonestly, that's actually one of the more sane and believable parts of Walpurgis.Scirocco was painted to be some kind of forward thinking 300 IQ villain. Whether it be the original Victory vision of Angel Halo being a massive mind control super weapon, or the pseudo-retcon in Ghost where its revealed that Angel Halo was intended to be a massive space travel vessel before it was refurbished as a weapon, both scenarios seem to be the kind of shit that Scirocco would've been making contingency plans around.
walpurgis was turbotrash
>>23668833It's pretty lame to tie something created by someone 50 years later to a dude who was in a singular show. Especially when there's zero indication he wants anything like that at all in Zeta. In Zeta he has a clear path to power in taking over the Titans/EFSF to become Earth's ruler - that he was seceretly thinking he'd just turn everyone into baby retards to rule over is nonsense. That retcon honestly just sucks. It's totally okay for things to just not be connected, it just makes the universe smaller when everything is born out of a handful of individuals. Might as well find out Challia Bull really liked motorcycles and that's why the Zanscare Einerad fleet exists.
>>23668418give me a Divinidad model kit

Speaking of fucking, did the people of Jupiter never question how their Queen kept popping out new royal spawn despite the current Jupiter royal family never acknowledging a King or even at least a Royal Consort?
>>23669907jovians are inherently retarded
>>23669907They just accepted a slut queen
>>23669907She's not an absolute ruler like Dogatie was so it's not treated the same way. It's her personal business and not a matter of the state.
The general populace didn't know shit, but it was more or less an open secret within the inner circle of the royal family that Tetenith was fucking her mysterious bodyguard all the time.
>>23669680>Probably fucking an underage PrincessNot anymore bucko. She's fair game now.
>>23658775
Font has a harem of 3
Finally started on Dust, and it's pretty fun so far.Font is really enjoying his stint larping as the evil Space Douchebag.I'm surprised Hasegawa didn't give him a mask to complete his role as the designated asshole Char clone in Dust's narrative.
>>23669950you could argue he has a metaphorical "mask" with his Turbo Autism Mode
