Starting Zeta, why does "Char" keep thinking he's sensing Lalah when he senses Kamille even though Lalah literally died in front of something? Am I missing something

I also just started Zeta for the first time and I'm like 13 episodes in. Why does everyone keep beating the shit out of Kamille? He even gets randomly stomped out in the streets by some dude he's never even seen before and who doesn't identify himself. Then, when he finally wakes up from his coma, the turncoat chick slaps him around and tells him to stop being arrogant only to go full retard in atmo after ignoring multiple direct orders to not go full retard and endangers everyone by forcing their ship to fly down and scoop her up. Are there any actually likeable characters in this show or am I just gonna be watching for the mech fights?

Also when she died he still feels her, her spirit still exists, he can feel her presence at times, he'll mention how when he visits earth he cant feel her anymore but when hes in space she'll visit him. He confronts amuro about this and suggests the real reason amuro retired to earth was that hes afraid of feeling Lalahs spirit again. He also mentioned he doesnt feel Lalah past Mars, she doesnt travel that far out. So yeah Lalah might be dead but her soul still haunts the earth sphere. He cant communicate with her but he can feel her presence from time to time, she'll visit him when hes in space.

Even Bright, stereotypical Oldtype, could faintly feel Amuro's pressure at the end of the series. Yazan even started to awaken and outright refused to let it happen, closing his mind.
