I've never written mecha fanfiction, but I have written fanfiction before before I removed basically all of it. I wrote something that started in the outline as a Gundam AU fanfiction before it transformed into it's own thing. I haven't published it anywhere because I haven't gotten anyone to read through it and I'm too private to share it with anyone outside of very close friends, but I've completed the main saga. I really wish I could find someone to work with to design the robots. The fanfiction I wrote got pretty positive reviews, so I think my writing is actually good, but I'm not very good at drawing and mecha is something I have no experience with.
>>23680545I worked in a SRW-like fangame for a while, but gave up due to my hard drive with all the data bricking and my only backup was a very incomplete online upload, missing basically all sprites that I hadn't implemented into the game yet (and I only had finished 8 stages). Well, that and one of the only "new" series I was adding in that game that wasn't based on recycled sprites was Might Gaine, which ended up appearing in SRW V, so it was basically the last stake on my motivation.

I'm sure lots of us here at least made an attempt at contributing ideas to that /m/ group one years ago that was a police drama/buddy cop show but with UC Gundam characters as the police and criminals. I think that one started from a joke someone made about Char and Amuro surviving the Axis Shock and becoming a pair of buddy cops and just kind of went for a few months from there, used to have a bookmark of the livejournal or whatever someone compiled a bunch of the posts to but lost said bookmark a few years back.

I once tried jotting down ideas for a sort of AU/bootleg concept of SRW in an alternate universe, which boiled down to names and concepts for series ideas where each one was supposed to be pastiches/homages/etc. to different franchises from /m/ history, including cast lists for the different not-SRW games and their in-universe reception, notable interactions in-game, etc., though it never really went much of anywhere, and was more a thought experiment than anything.

Especially since SRW, Gundam Musou, Another Century Episode, Iron Saga already did most of crossovers and fanfictions I would want and could think of.

I also started writing it when Gundam was really the only robot stuff I had seen, but after watching a lot more mecha stuff I was more inspired by other shows and decided to refocus. I reused the characters from the Gundam AU and the story beats are pretty similar because I had a full outline planned, but that was before I started actually writing anything. In the Gundam AU, the entire solar system had been colonised and the conflict was between the inner and outer planets. My original setting was a massive tech downgrade from that, with the mecha being unable to fly and humanity still only on Earth aside from a small Moon mining colony.

Mostly with trying to make the Mobile Armor SID be the true cause of the war rather than the half-assed explanation we got for how Vagan gained the power it did. Never was satisfied with some of the writings I had since most of them ended up with Asemu becoming the final protagonist, with Flit becoming an extremist leading the Federation into a genocidal war and Kio ending up with Vagan as a bleeding heart for them after living his whole life as a killing machine condition by his Grandfather.

But then I realize how massive that shit was, especially if NERV or Gendo can just put a Newtype into an Eva, along with communicating with the souls inside. I also remember an outline of Asuka becoming a Newtype, and crashing out ala Riddhe. The threat of SEELE of got me debating internally on why they wouldn't just confiscate the Argama, with my only answer to that was the Titans and Axis Zeon were leaking into their world.

Now that the wheels are greased I'll talk about my own /m/ficits called Mobile Suit Gundam: Butterfly. It's a universal century gundam AU I've begun writing on proper and I'm sitting at 10,000+ words on it right now. FYI if some of this sounds familiar I swear to God I started outlining this well before gquacksBasically a few things happen differently in the one year war, including Char's assassination attempt on Garma failing at S3 point and Amuro falling in battle with Lalah at Solomon, as well as Gihren being taken out by Kycilia early. The war drags on as zeon adopts the "Zeon Rebirth Plan" as drafted by Garma and Dozle, a radical shift in their military doctrine and resource management, absorbing neutral territories into the foreign legion as the Federation's momentum stalls with their edge having been lost and the gundam's wreckage and combat data having been recovered. Tech branches off into new directions in the second year of the "Zeon War" After Zeon officially takes Granada and later Von Braun after a prolonged siege with their SDF, the Federation's production facilities are brutally swept from them. In an all-out attack to liberate Von Braun for their last chance at gaining leverage to negotiate a better deal to end the war, the Federation secretly executes "operation butterfly," where the titular gundam is sent deep behind enemy lines to Granada to eliminate multiple Big Zam Jr units who are staging for a push on the frontline. The attack fails, and eventually the Federation unconditionally surrenders.The story picks up in 0087, where the now gutted "United Federation" is well under the boot of a much more culturally, economically, and militarily powerful Zeon. Most of the important 0079 characters don't actually make appearances in the main story, as it follows a plot by the new Federation black ops and intelligence organization "Titans" and their plan to recover the Butterfly Gundam from a zeon testing colony in Side 6 and rejuvenate the UF
