>>23680909Figure-OhGochizo on StageThe little sweet treat minion born from the protagonist's belt—that's "Gochizo." When inserted into the transformation belt, its energy transforms the protagonist into Rider form. Once its duty is complete, it ascends to bliss. Gochizo is an adorable entity utterly devoted to its master.>Yamabe:For Gochizo, serving its master is pure happiness. Isn't food, once eaten, turned into nutrients to build the body? Gochizo sees becoming energy for the protagonist as the ultimate way to help.>Kaneko: It's the spirit of self-sacrifice. Even if it sounds harsh to call it a 'disposable entity,' for a minion like Gochizo, that's pure joy.Linking the elements of "food" and "minion" with "nutrients" and "dedication" is a brilliantly clever concept.>Takebe: When Gochizo is 'eaten' by the belt, it turns into the protagonist's energy and vanishes. The one who depicted that scene so brilliantly in the video production is Director Tsukiara. As Gochizo ascends to bliss, they say 'I'm so happy~' with angelic halos and wings, slowly fading away (laughs). Gochizo became instantly popular, and that's definitely Director Tsukiara's achievement. When you insert Gochizo into the transformation belt and turn the lever, a wondrous sound plays, and you hear Gochizo's voice saying "EAT Gummy~ EAT Gummy~.">Mitsuoka: We incorporated a cute, living-like connecting item into the transformation belt, but I felt a generic system voice would feel off. During toy planning, Gochizo was described as a living creature, so I thought it would be great if we could have Gochizo itself emit some kind of sound.(1/?)
>>23684418>At first, we considered ad-like candy commercial voices, like after the standby transformation sound, Gochizo saying something like 'Juicy juice, poppin' gummy!' (laughs). But when Ms. Takebe heard it, she said, 'I want more uniqueness.' Each senior Rider has diverse transformation sounds, but she wanted a distinctive trait so anyone hearing it would instantly know, 'This is that Rider's transformation sound.Talking transformation belts like the Kivat Belt or Drive Driver (Beltsan) existed before, but this new belt is another evolved variant.>Mitsuoka: After getting input from the planning team and lots of back-and-forth, the result was: why not treat the belt like a 'stage' and have Gochizo 'sing' on it? That's how it turned out.So the transformation sound became Gochizo's "singing voice" itself.>Takebe: Since the transformation belt is a 'mouth' located at the stomach, inserting the connecting item means it's being eaten by the belt. I thought it would be interesting to have a scream-like 'Eek~' sound from the item (laughs). When you insert the connecting item into the belt, Gochizo says "EAT Gummy~ EAT Gummy~," which is like "Eat me~ Eat me~." And then you hear Gochizo's scream! This blend of cuteness and cruelty is one of Gochizo's charms. This perfectly balanced connecting item soon sparked an unprecedented wave of popularity.(2/?)
>>23684420The Mysterious Hero and the Mobile PhoneTakebe, who presented an invincible, unbeatable protagonist image in Kamen Rider Geats, was seeking the next hero's image. So what exactly is the "loneliness"-themed protagonist's look?>Takebe: I think what kids love is a strong hero. I get that depicting him as invincible and unbeatable works, but we already did that in Geats, so we couldn't repeat it. That's why I thought, why not try a hero where the pre-transformation and post-transformation images feel totally different? It eventually led to a character like Gekko Kamen (Moonlight Mask), known as the 'mysterious hero who hides his identity'. >The protagonist might seem weak or clumsy before transforming, but becomes incredibly skilled after. I wanted to use this approach to present an ultra-strong hero. This blends the "loneliness" of the original Kamen Rider—the series' genesis—with Gekko Kamen's "hidden identity," the Showa-era hero archetype. The contrast, misunderstandings from unknown true identities, and above all, the enigmatic, intriguing aura of a hero whose real self is concealed.>Takebe: The first four episodes in road movie style were to convey that sense of isolation. Since the protagonist is a stranger from another world, he has no fixed home on Earth. He keeps moving from place to place, collapsing from hunger until he encounters all sorts of people. We settled on the 'stray puppy boy waiting to be picked up' approach (laughs).>So, should his character be a sweet type totally opposite an invincible hero image? We discussed that, then thought it'd be fun if someone picks him up. In episode 1, a boy picks him up, making viewers think he's a regular character—but nope. That kind of development could be exciting. In episode 2, he meets the heroine—will he stick around? Nope, he hits the road again. We aimed to deliver those unexpected twists in the story.(3/?)
>>23684422In Rider series, protagonists usually come packed with signature gadgets, especially the standard mobile phone-shaped item seen in nearly every entry.Takebe: For the mobile phone item, I hesitated on including it. The core concept here is a lonely protagonist with no friends or secret organization backing him. So even if he has a phone, who would he call? That stuck with me. What would a hidden-identity fighting hero use a phone for? Those questions made me waver a bit.In the end, the mobile phone item became a communication tool with the "Gochizo," leaving us amazed at how even a single gadget gets this level of meticulous consideration. With that, designs for everything—the hero, transformation belt, compatible items, motorcycle, and accessories—were finalized. The story setup was organized, completing the new Rider's overall image. The name was set as "Kamen Rider Gavv," derived from the onomatopoeic "Gabu Gabu" (gulp gulp), evoking voracious eating or drinking. The otherworldly monster enemies are called "Granutes," with stomach organs resembling mouths known as "Gabu." The protagonist is half-human, half-Granute, and has a Gabu on his stomach too—but it's covered by red mechanical parts, making it look freakish from the Granutes' perspective...Though the worldview evokes the fairy tale "The Ugly Duckling," it's by the same author (Hans Christian Andersen) as "The Little Mermaid," the initial story framework here—whether that's some omen or not. Amid a flood of hero works and Hollywood films, this new Kamen Rider shrinks down, eyes fixed on his target, posture so low it's almost crawling on the ground. The premiere aired on September 1, 2024. In an instant, his body soared lightly into the sky—like a gummy bouncing free!!!(4/4)I think this is finally the last Gavv Figure-Oh interview aside from the random notes from the book

>>23684402I'm liking Zeztz so far but I think the show will fail, most Japanese hate when a Japanese piece of media appeals to the west over Japan after how many times that tactic has gone wrong.I usually wouldn't mind a Rider show selling worse than usual because it's still pretty much guaranteed that they will be able to earn more money than they spent but it's kind of scary since Gavv was the worst selling Reiwa show I'm afraid of the implications of two shows selling worse than usual in a row, specially since by default next show after Zeztz will be made by either Takebe who's high risk high reward or Takijima who's brand-new. At least regardless it's pretty much guaranteed for the next Rider season to have a weird as hell motif.
Why do people reject Buster as Saber's quaternary? He has the most screen time in Q1 beside the main trio, he's the character outside the main trio most tied to Touma's backstory, he's the only Rider who's personal life is shown, and his arc of coming to Touma's side in Q2 gets the most focus. Also he's literally Rider #4 according to Toei.
>>23684448>At least regardless it's pretty much guaranteed for the next Rider season to have a weird as hell motif. What would the weird as hell motif for the next Rider series be?
>>23684453Since Sentai died before we could get a music season, it's time for rider to fix that.
>>23681374Is the manga good? I remember trying Kai's Uma Musume just because it had Kamen Rider references and it turned out good, and then they later made Fuuto PI. >>23684449Because Toei and Bandai are inconsistent on who they consider quaternary, they've referred Kenzan, Saikou and Buster as quaternary in official merch on different occasions. It's probably like Takebe says, they usually just think of the main 3 Riders, while the others are just "the rest".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MJHP_ooBC0
>>23684456
>>23684449ossan with a kid
>>23684449He just doesn't really do much or have a very involved arc aside from bits here and there. Like yeah he is involved, but he's kinda lumped together with the others and mainly paired up with Slash. Kenzan is a good contender because he has a long running development arc and Fukuda seemed to uniquely focus on him as much as the main trio, but Saikou was the one who ended up being biggest player along with the trio. Not only was he heavily involved and also moving the story forward, but Yuri was basically a substitute for the tertiary and even secondary for the majority of the series and most things wouldn't have been resolved if it weren't for him. That's something Japanese fans also acknowledge and even refer to him as the "SSR pull" with how useful he is. Even in terms of merch, he actually gets the most focus with getting a sofubu and Figuarts after the trio and Calibur and before the others. Hell, he actually gets a good amount of focus in the movies too with him being there with the main trio and Mei in Senki or being a major player along with Rintaro in Beyond Generations and transforming into Legend Riders. Even the HBV is focused on him and Touma. Buster was always just tossed to the background but most official things will say he's still number 4 and Kenzan became really popular but only after the late development and he was still treated like a background support like Buster in movies up until Outsiders gave him focus. Tl;dr - Toei/Bandai will always insist Buster is the fourth Rider but the audience and the show itself will always show that Saikou is the most significant after the trio.
>>23684406I'd say that the sinister laughing is going to be really awkward when he turns face at the end of Q2 but Rogue had that stock horror scream in his.
>>23684449>Why do people reject Buster as Saber's quaternary?Probably because he doesn't really do much and loses all the time without support. He's also outshined by other more interesting and useful Riders. It's a shame though because his design is fucking awesome and the actor is pretty cool. Wish the writers cared enough about him to give him more to do.
>>23684480They gave him a pretty cool manga at leastHonestly between this and Shinobi I want Kaori Kaneko to write next season
>>23684453Just do ninja or martial arts season ffs it's not that hard. Sugihara and fujita can do it too if they allowed.
>>23684456I know that Japan has a deeper connection to physical media than most areas but I don't know if CDs are on their way out there, it'd be a shame if they never got used as henshin items. An alternative idea I would think that could work for a music-based henshin item would be something like earbuds where either you could snap them together into a single item or they would go into a belt like a clamshell case.

He does start mostly losing in the second half of the show when the higher-end villains start getting introduced, but that happened to nearly every other Rider as well. And let's not forget there would be no Primitive nor Tategami without him.

>>23685219We don't really know if they're necessarily "bad" yet. Baku has saved a lot of lives with the help of CODE through Zero and Nox is doing what he believes is right with The Lady. But both sides are super shady and I feel like that's normal for spy agencies. Like they try to make it seem like one side is evil but it's clear it's complicated than that. Zero slips comments that seem apathetic to Baku and has seen that Baku has gone out of the way to save Nox twice, but he also does seem to continue to trust him and help him like with Booster and his warning to Baku. The Lady seems like a blatant villain, but while Nox makes questionable decisions there has to be a reason he's following her and he does have the Kamen Rider title now after the allegiance to her for a reason. Kinda feels like Shroud with Accel. Zeztz has been kinda meh for me, but I will say the stuff that's being introduced after the last episode does interest me a lot. It also has one of the best fights from late Heisei near the end of the show. The biggest problems with the show are that in the first quarter the cotw aren't that interesting but the show makes up for it by the main cast and plot developments being interesting, near the end there's a mini-arc focused in the secondary Rider that unironically sucks and the way the show treats the concept of death is questionable. If you liked the other shows written by Yuya Takahashi you'll most likely like this, Ex-Aid, his two Generation Movies, RealxTime, Lupin the III Part IV and his Lupin the III movies are generally considered to be his best works.

I could totally see them doing that for Zeztz and Geats.
>>23686331>Have you not watched Ultraman? The shows that catered more to China's tastes did better revenue numbers (Trigger, Decker) than the three shows following them that have shifted more "back to basics" (Blazar, Arc, Omega) have been on a downward slide

We've already had 2+ decades of experience at this point with Japanese companies who start finding mainstream success in the West and start changing their design principles to cater to said newfound audience to their own long-term detriment (see: Final Fantasy and Square Enix in general, and Monster Hunter, just to name a couple)

Both sets of horns are big, but that's it; they're totally different shapes.I wonder if we'll see what corrupted Zeztz looks like, but I can't imagine it being very interesting.I guess I'm contrasting this with Masshin Chaser/Chaser, which went from being a fucked up Roidmude on steroids with a strong raw engine theme to a shining silver-plated hero. One could argue it's just different design philosophy, but it just feels less important. Not to mention how long he was Masshin Chaser for and how much work and time went into him turning into a Kamen Rider. These days we already knew he was going to become a Rider on day one.

I guess maybe the orange? Both sets of horns are big, but that's it; they're totally different shapes. They have similarly shaped V-Fins, the compound eyes remains the same between both forms, there's orange, silver and black in the suits, the lines have similar shapes instead of being thick like Zeztz's, and there's the obvious fact that they're both form-fitting bodysuits with chest belts.

>>23686417>There's also basically 0 design consistency between Nox Knight and Nox properThe transformation actually shows the helmet/mask going from Nox Knight to Nox. I think in terms of the design being drastically different though is maybe because it's to show Kamen Rider Nox is completely unique to Nox (the design actually feels like a blend of Nox's civilian outfit and the Shadow Nightmare) and him finally disconnecting fully from CODE. I think there's a reason why the Lord System is so consistent in design with the Knight System while Zeztz and Nox are truly unique designs as Kamen Riders. I do love Nox Knight's design a lot more, but I actually do like Kamen Rider Nox a lot too.

>>23686551>it’s natural for CODE to have other Agents they can rely on in the battle.Anon you said it yourself Baku is CODE's only agent currently, and Nox has seemingly been working under The Lady for a while even though he only his new belt/capsems just now. Also the 3 agents are marketed as rivals, even though they don't have a new style of Capsems it's clear they'll be against Baku in this cour where Baku is still working under CODE.

>>23684423Figure-OhDesign of Poppin Gummy FormMask of Kamen Rider Gavv Poppin Gummy Form>Yamamoto: Since Gavv's basic image is that of a 'monster,' we didn't aim to imitate any specific animal. Instead, we tried to design it with a semi-abstract feel, so that kids could tell their parents, 'This one looks just like that animal!'>As a result, I think the final design might look like a rabbit to some people, or a kangaroo to others. That could be because the name 'Poppin Gummy' overlaps with the image of animals that love to hop around.Kamen Rider Gavv Poppin Gummy Form>Yamamoto: The initial concept was a monster, so the basic design has a wild beast vibe. For example, the large claws at the toe tips are a symbol representing its monstrous nature.>The arm and leg armor is designed to resemble 'flat gummy sheets' that are planar yet have a three-dimensional shape. The chest armor is the only part designed to be rounded like typical 'jelly gummies'.>This chest area is also a homage to the Converter Lung (chest plate) of Masked Rider No. 1. At first, we considered making the chest look rigid like the shoulder areas, but once the 'gummy' element came into play, we wanted to leverage that feature.>The lines flowing from the shoulders down to the chest represent the patterns found in gummy sheets and their 'translucency'. They also serve the purpose of adding design details—without them, it would look too plain.>The base color is purple, which we chose because purple flavors are always among the top-ranked popular gummies in Japan. Plus, purple isn't a color often used for main Rider protagonists, which was another reason. But using just a single purple shade would make it look too dull, so we added a color gradient on the armor to mimic gummy texture and convey translucency.

Uchuusen Director Kamihoriuchi Interviewhttps://tieba.baidu.com/p/10343206079Question: When did you receive the offer to direct this series?>Kami: It was in 2024, during the filming of "Blooming with You ~ The Shinsengumi Youthful Record" in Kyoto, Toei producer Yanaka (Hideaki) contacted me by phone.Question: In the previous interview with Yanaka P, he said that the reason for choosing you was "I felt that Director Kamihoriuchi would definitely help me out".>Kami: I've known Mr. Yanaka for a long time. When he first joined Toei, he worked on set for "Kamen Rider" as a production staff member. At that time, I also worked with him as an assistant director. So saying "I'm here to help him" might be a bit presumptuous, but this is also Mr. Yanaka's first time serving as the executive producer of the Kamen Rider series. I hope we can support each other and move forward together.Question: As the main director of the Kamen Rider series, what special determination did you have?>Kami: I'm very grateful to have been chosen and honored to take on this important task. However, I don't feel any pressure because "I'm the main director." It's purely because I love creating, so I'm happy to be involved from the preparation stage. I'm often asked in interviews, "Do you feel pressure as the main director?" But actually, I don't feel much pressure because of the titles "main director" or "Kamen Rider." Of course, the pressure to do a good job is always there. Perhaps because early in my directing career, when I was in charge of the 'Ghost' spin-off series (Legend of Hero Alain), I deeply experienced the pressure of "This is your work, so the responsibility is huge." That feeling has become the norm, so whether it's TV or a movie, whether I'm the main director or not makes little difference to me personally; I always do my best to complete the work.
>>23687511Did Fukuda got involved in Rider?
>>23687540they're cheap
>>23687520It is only 1st cour. New riders would change the evaluation. Would it be as bad as Zeroone, Revice and Ghost?
>>23687541Question: When director Kamihoriuchi joined the project, how far had the story's development progressed?>Kami: When I got involved, we were in a phase of repeatedly exploring the theme of "dreams." Although there have been many works with dreams as their theme in the past, my first reaction was that budgeting would be tricky (laughs), because depicting dreams means presenting two worlds, reality and dreams, in parallel, which would be difficult to develop as a TV series. Later, after the team discussed the development direction of this major theme many times, ideas such as "making it a spy movie" and "Kamen Rider as an agent" gradually emerged, and finally, we moved in the direction of "This is really interesting!"Question: The theme of "dream" really tests the production level in live-action production.>Kami: From the script stage, we considered how to balance the unique fantasy world of tokusatsu with a story spanning approximately 50 episodes that could unfold continuously over a year. When people think of dreams, they often imagine extremely fantastical worlds, but 'Zeztz' wanted to portray dreams with a realistic and grounded worldview. For example, our dreams rarely take place in completely unfamiliar settings. While we might dream of suddenly being in space, we're more often in familiar places or scenes close to reality. For instance, suddenly finding ourselves back home while walking in the distance, or encountering people who could never possibly be there... This kind of world might resonate more with viewers than fantastical dreams. Although there were various limitations in production, we thought it would be interesting to build such a realistic dream world, which ultimately led to its current form.
>>23687545Question: When you were visualizing a story that intertwines dreams and reality, what specific attempts did you make, and what difficulties did you encounter?>Kami: I was indeed worried that the plot, which intertwines dreams and reality, might be difficult to understand. However, this difficulty isn't all negative; it also has positive aspects. I've been constantly thinking about how to present it in a way that allows the audience to grasp this. Sometimes, an interesting performance can become incomprehensible, so figuring out the right balance and when to present it in which proportion across the approximately 50 episodes has always been a challenge for me. For example, in the first three episodes, which set the tone, we prioritized conveying the core premise that "if the nightmare achieves its goal, it will manifest in the real world," while appropriately reducing the clarity of "whether this is a dream or reality." I personally think that maintaining this ambiguity is perfectly acceptable. After the actual broadcast, we did receive a lot of feedback from people who couldn't distinguish between dreams and reality, but I think that's precisely the charm of this ambiguous blend of dreams and reality—a half-dreaming, half-awake state. I also believe that as the story progresses, the audience will gradually understand this approach.
>>23687547Question: What specific measures were taken?>Kami: We invested a lot of time in script discussions, and I personally insisted on participating in every stage from the end of filming to the final mastering of the sound, repeatedly considering every sound detail. Regarding the sense of proportion between dreams and reality, we are still constantly exploring. Sometimes we think one way is better during filming, but during the editing stage, we adjust it to present it in a way that is more interesting. The sound effects were also continuously refined until the last moment, seeking the best way to express them. That's how the final product was born.Question: You also directed the opening sequence, and the visual effects were very interesting.>Kami: Although I've created opening themes for 'Ryusoulger' and 'Kingohger,' the way I created the opening theme for 'Zeztz' is different from other Kamen Rider series. While I did include some foreshadowing for the future, this time the focus was more on explaining the concept of a "dream story" rather than introducing the characters, so the content feels quite imaginative. Of course, I did have a clear main theme in mind, but since it's a dream, I adopted a more open and unrestricted approach, which I think was quite fun.Question: And there were even scenes of characters growing to gigantic sizes.>Kami: Those were shots filmed using miniature architectural models. Isn't it interesting that even Nox was there, even though it probably has nothing to do with the plot (laughs)? But that's how dreams are, so I hope everyone doesn't take it too seriously and just enjoys the fun the images bring.
>>23687549Question: Baku's physique has become more muscular in his agent form, and he's using colored contact lenses to change his eye color. Are these suggestions from yourself as Director?>Kami: This falls under the category of performance design, and it was indeed my suggestion. While Baku is usually strong inside, he gives off a gentle and soft impression. What kind of image would the spy he aspires to be? Considering Baku's love for foreign spy movies, he would probably imagine himself more robust in his dreams than in reality. We put a lot of thought into this, even adjusting his way of speaking. Normally, Baku deliberately avoids emphasizing his tone and the ending of his sentences. In the scenes in episode 3 where he's active in the real world, we paid special attention to controlling the degree of change. Episode 3, with these elements, was indeed very challenging. Perhaps a different impression could have been presented in scenes more suitable for showcasing vulnerable fighting styles. Of course, I don't think the performance in episode 3 was wrong, but striking the right balance was extremely difficult. However, the other directors inherited my ideas very well, and I think the sense of proportion between dreams and reality is gradually becoming clearer.
>>23687551Question: In the first three episodes, which required setting the stage and introducing the characters, what aspects did you pay particular attention to?>Kami: My primary consideration is creating characters that audiences will love, and this applies to all roles. Fortunately, all the actors are positive, cheerful, and have outstanding personalities. We wanted to fully showcase their qualities in the film. Almost every actor shares similarities with their character, so it was rare to have to force a performance that was completely different from their own personality. The most challenging role was probably Mo in his agent persona, but the actor, Imai, is closer to Baku's usual demeanor. I also felt that Kenta Mishima, who plays Tetsuya Fujimi, and Rina Onuki, who plays Nasuka Nagumo, were quite compatible with their characters. During auditions, if we sense that someone has a particularly outstanding quality, as long as we can accurately convey that quality to the audience, the character will naturally be loved. This is something I always value.
watch tojima instead of reiwatrash
>>23687553Question: Will the lines be adjusted according to the actor's own characteristics?>Kami: I do this all the time. Although saying this might annoy screenwriter Yuya (Takahashi), I often adjust the ending and wording to suit the actor's characteristics. For example, the script might end with an exclamation mark, but on set I'll think, "Would such an exaggerated surprise be appropriate?" If I feel it's not suitable, I'll change it according to the situation. However, the only exception is Ms. Yagi (Miki), who plays Minami. I'll tell her, "Please feel free to improvise." I think Ms. Yagi's strength lies in her natural acting, and I hope she starts with the script and cherishes those naturally flowing lines. Of course, we'll check when there are problems, but we do give them a lot of freedom. This is based on the premise that the actors understand their characters best. In the early stages, we will certainly give them acting guidance, but from the pre-production rehearsal to after filming several episodes, the actors will naturally gain a deeper understanding of the characters. After that, it depends on how they interpret and expand upon them. I often say, "If you think this way, please try it once and see."Question: Zeztz's transformation was initially surprising, lacking any flashy moves but instead displaying a composed demeanor.>Kami: We believe that agents don't make exaggerated movements, so from the beginning, we aimed to complete the transformation in a cool way with the least amount of necessary movements. Although this is just my personal opinion, I think the kind of hero that kids who buy the belt would want to emulate is either a bright, energetic, and positive hero like "Here we go! Transform!" or a mature and composed hero like "Okay, let's go, transform!" This time, 'Zeztz' wanted to make everyone think, "Adults are so cool!", so the transformation movements were designed to be more understated.
>>23687556Question: The way it quietly transforms and gradually changes its form is refreshing.>Kami: The transformation effect is based on the design concept of Zeztz. This time, the rider is not armor but based on the outline of the body itself. At first, we had no idea how to achieve a gorgeous transformation under this outline, but after repeatedly thinking about the cool presentation, we finally decided on the current form.Question: (As the time of publishing) The latest episodes 14 and 15 were also directed by Kamihoriuchi.>Kami: To establish the character of Nox, I had many discussions with Mr. Furukawa (Yuki). In the preview episodes (episodes 1-3) and episodes 8 and 9 that I was responsible for, Nox didn't appear much, and I surprisingly hadn't filmed him much myself. However, episodes 14 and 15 offer a glimpse into Nox's past and inner world, and the past between Baku and Nox is also revealed. I feel very fortunate to have been responsible for these two episodes. On set, to express Nox's state of mind in each shot, Mr. Furukawa and I discussed in detail which side his expression should lean towards. A single expression can change the audience's interpretation and may even affect the presentation of past relationships, including Baku's. Therefore, we were extremely particular about the nuances and variations in Nox's performance.

>>23687555Virgin Reiwa riders who rely on weapons and form changes while Chad showa riders aside from X and RX relies most on bare hand to destroy Kaijins.
>>23687560Question: What aspects did you focus on in shaping Nox, a character who is both an enemy and ally?>Kami: For convenience, I use terms like "good guy" and "bad guy," but I don't really consider logic like "because one side is a hero, the other side is evil" or "this person isn't actually bad." All the characters should act according to their own beliefs, but these beliefs clash, leading to battles. Therefore, both sides have elements of justice and evil that includes sin. So there's no need to deliberately prevent Knox from appearing as a villain. As long as Nox's (Odaka Kensei) past is conveyed to the audience, it's equivalent to conveying it to Baku in the play. Our aim is for Baku to be able to naturally connect lines like "My enemy isn't you" and "Everyone has things they're afraid of, I've had them too" without having to say something like "You're not bad." As long as we carefully refine Mr. Furukawa's performance before he reaches this state of mind, the actors, script, and staff will skillfully fill in the gaps, and the audience will definitely understand.
>>23687564Question: As the director in charge of the pilot episode, did you truly feel the growth of the actors?>Kami: I've been following Baku's actor, Imai, and Nemu's actor, Maho Horiguchi, since their auditions. I can clearly feel their changes as actors, but using the word "growth" is a bit condescending. From my professional perspective, it should be about growing alongside them. In the first episode, they were stiff due to nervousness, but by the eighth and ninth episodes, they had developed a different kind of nervousness. As for Baku, rather than saying his acting improved, it's more accurate to say that he gradually found a way to express emotions that suited him. Actors at that age often struggle to fully portray their inner emotions. Even when told "it's not right, it doesn't convey the right feeling," they feel, "I've already tried my best to express it this way." But as the series progresses, they gain a clearer understanding of themselves and master their own way of acting. This process of struggling with themselves is also conveyed to us. Having worked in tokusatsu productions for many years, I sometimes see actors still struggling to find their footing even in the later stages of a series. But Imai reached the stage earlier where he could respond to requests like, "If you think this way, try it that way," or "Even if you think this way, please try to change it this way." Ms. Horiguchi is similar; details are too far-fetched to elaborate on, but she underwent a significant transformation after acting opposite Ms. Mimura Rie, who plays The Lady. With Ms. Mimura joining the regular cast, Ms. Horiguchi's performance will be refreshed, so please look forward to it.
>>23687566Finally, please say a few words to the readers.>Kami: 'Zeztz' is a Kamen Rider series that stands out in terms of its setting and overall feel. I think the story setup takes time, but with the appearance The Lady played by Ms. Mimura at the end of episode 15, the series will advance significantly as a drama about human nature. Starting with the changes in the relationship between CODE, Baku, and Nox, the characters' situations will undergo drastic changes, and the plot will suddenly accelerate two or three notches. I hope everyone can enjoy this sense of speed. Please continue to support Zeztz!

Don't forget we've had cases in both Gozyuger and Zi-O where a director decided to just eliminate plot relevant exposition because they thought it was breaking the pacing of the episode.Battles also used to be mostly left to the directors during the Heisei era (they actually commented on Urobuchi's script going into battles which was unusual), although nowadays there's actual storyboarding.

>>23687762Unless they have some plot relevant ability that actually comes up in the story during its debut, the actual visualization/'effects of abilities are left to the director of the debut. Of course, they're tied to whatever sounds are in the toy, but even that can be disregarded (like Wizard's call out for the final form mentions all elements, but you don't see this represented in the show, and since it was established in the debut everyone else follows it).A very recent example of directors just doing whatever they wanted was Legend, who had different visual portrayals of his powers in the special and most tv episodes, likely due to debuting in a net special and the directors not really "respecting" that a lot (Shibasaki who directed the special most of his tv episodes - "Gorgeous" versions of attacks often have a bunch of extra effects, like a Golden Denliner alongside Den-O's finisher or Gaim's attack, summoned Hibiki creates a cage of drums, Kiva's Rider Kick has a bunch of new details around the bat emblem), tv debut (Sakamoto, "Gorgeous" versions of attacks have golden sparks replacing the original colors, but otherwise follow the original) and Gotchard movie (Ryuta Tasaki "Gorgeous" versions are no different from normal ones).

>>23687555>>23687563>>23687578Why can't you discuss things without enacting console war behavior?>>23687556>>Kami: We believe that agents don't make exaggerated movements, so from the beginning, we aimed to complete the transformation in a cool way with the least amount of necessary movements. It's interesting for him to acknowledge that, I really wonder how well will Zeztz's belt perform, does the rest of Asia get Kamen Rider toys at the same time as the Japanese or do they have to wait longer?
>>23687790>>23687779I had the feeling it was left up to the director, it's just that I remembered an old debate of people lamenting some stuff getting barely used on some of the shows and complaining about the writer barely using them (I think Inoue got a lot of the blame for this), but it makes more sense that it's up to the director since they're the ones calling the shots for the flow of the episodes.

wow..just wow. Just finished ghost and i'm..speechless. The forms, the themes, the characters, the arcs, the storytelling, comedy, and fights. All completely and utterly dog shit. Totally made by braindead madman. Absolute terrible. I am truly at a loss for words.

Figure-OhDesign of ZakuZaku Chips>Yamamoto: When we eat potato chips, sometimes there are two pieces stacked together, right? I directly incorporated that stacked state into the armor design. The chest area is layered in tiers, evoking the image of samurai armor. Since it features dual swords, the fighting style has a samurai vibe. Additionally, to make it feel like potato chips, we added a rough, crinkly texture all over the body.>Yamamoto: For Gavv's form changes, the basic style involves only swapping the front mask (the back half of the head is a shared part), similar to Zero-One. It gives the impression of a Kamen Rider 'mask' that keeps changing. Even after the form change, the eyes and the O-Signal on the forehead retain the same shape as the Poppin Gummy form.>We differentiated the eyes by using a potato texture pattern different from the armor body. Choosing 'ruffled potato chips' makes it look like the mask's light slits naturally. A fun design point is that the ruffles slant downward to the lower right, making it look droopy-eyed (friendly) from certain angles.>From the front, it looks like two antennae sticking out in classic Masked Rider style, but the key is that from the side, you realize it's actually 'potato chips viewed from the edge.' We used the thinness of the chips to form the antennae. It's a design packed with little ideas and playfulness.ZakuZaku ChipSlasher>Yamamoto: Potato chips burst out from a bag squeezed to its limit, then connect in a chain to form a massive blade. We paid special attention to the handle designed as a snack bag, and instead of straight lines, giving the blade 'bite marks' adds more dynamic movement to the design. I think it's a weapon that pops and fits perfectly into Gavv's world.(1/?)
>>23687961>Mitsuo: We've always wondered if we could make Rider weapons using 'urethane foam' or soft materials. With urethane, we can create large weapons at a lower cost. Since this is a candy Rider season, thin and lightweight weapons are ideal. Plus, adding sounds would make it a fun product. I think we've successfully created a new category of 'urethane weapons'.Concept of Kamen Rider Gavv's No. 2 RiderKamen Rider as a "Man-Made Industrial Product"Karashita Hanto is a freelance journalist with a tragic past. 18 years ago, his mother was kidnapped by the Granutes. While investigating the truth of the case, he lost "Shioya," his beloved mentor, to another Granute. To fight back against them, Hanto decides to gain the power to transform into a Kamen Rider—but that means undergoing an unknown "modification surgery" to transplant "Granute organs" into his own body...!>Takebe: In Geats, anyone could become a Kamen Rider just by getting the Desire Driver, but in this series, the worldview doesn't make it that easy. For an ordinary person to become a Rider, there needs to be a solid reason backing it up. So we settled on transplanting Granute organs to gain transformation ability. After checking with TV Asahi and all relevant parties that 'modification surgery' wasn't off-limits, we decided to incorporate this into the story.(2/?)
>>23686971>>23687962>Yamabe: For example, if it were a modification using real-world or near-future tech like a pacemaker or artificial heart, I'd see that as a different issue. I don't want kids or anyone to feel pain from that kind of setting. I want to create work that makes people think, 'Even if you're sick, you have to keep trying.' Simply put, for watching Kamen Rider, in Hanto's case, transplanting Granute organs doesn't exist in the real world, so we decided it was fine. We even had the Granute organs designed to not resemble anything real in the human world. Despite various opinions, for this series' world and story context, we got approval from everyone. To defeat the monster that kidnapped his mother, he needs power—but to gain that power, he must embed the enemy's power into his own body. Hanto's determination is thus shackled by this contradiction.>Yamabe: Hanto hates Granutes to his core, but becoming a Rider brings him closer to becoming one himself. He has to bear this contradiction, and I think that's what makes Hanto a hero.>Kaneko: To be honest, Shoma (the protagonist) isn't human either, so Hanto represents the human side that's necessary to rise up against the Granutes. The No. 2 Kamen Rider that Hanto transforms into is modeled after "chocolate," a super popular and everyday candy. What does his appearance look like?>Kaneko: We decided early on that the No. 2 Rider would be chocolate. When designing 'Gavv,' chocolate was one of the first options sketched as a main form change. After hearing Takebe-san's concept that the No. 2 Rider would have a different transformation system, I thought we should change the hero's concept too. Since it's a transformation using human-developed technology, I proposed not using candy power directly, but incorporating 'packaging' into the design. Packaging or logos are man-made, so adding an 'industrial product' feel would fit perfectly.(3/?)
>>23687964The transformation item for the Chocolate Rider is a bizarre-looking bread... >Mitsuo: The initial toy concept was a 'transformation item that torments Gojiso to extract its power.' Because Toei explained it as a weapon created by a mad scientist.Suga Kenzo, the developer of the Valen Buster, is a man worthy of the title "mad scientist." Viewing this transformation bread as a torture device makes it seem like an item strangely reflecting the darkness in Suga's heart.>Kaneko: We refined it into an image of 'forced transformation.' If it looked too torturous for Gojiso, it'd be pitiful, so we adjusted the sound to feel like getting shocked and numbed all over. The scream isn't 'Gyaa!' but 'Kyaa!' —a startled shriek with a hint of secret delight. For the sound effects, we used an Orthodontic sound system to differentiate it from Gavv's belt sounds.Karashita Hanto, the No. 2 Rider, is a man who lost his family to the enemy and became a "beast of vengeance." The man who underwent modification surgery to become a Kamen Rider, wearing a leather coat to track enemy traces—this is a true "Showa Rider" image. With his retro look that veteran fans will acknowledge, he hunts the Granutes with brutal, dust-kicking fighting style!(4/4)
