the dust has settled, tell me what did you think of the game and especially the mech design. and why did it fail in the west?
>>
>>23686985
>why did it fail in the west?
Boring, generic gameplay.
Also, chinkshit.
>>
I really liked it when they started the first playtests, but between the final playtest and the official launch Welkin spent too long at tier 0. He just wasn't fun to play into. By the time I thought to revisit the game I saw that the player count had fallen to like 2 players online at any given time and I figured it's best not to get attached to a sinking ship. Honestly I didn't even give a shit about the stuff that was getting it review bombed like the monetization or anti-cheat. It was genuinely just the meta.
>>
>>23686985
>removed the slow parts of AC6 gameplay
>fast and interactive movement system
>gimped everything because in a 6v6 the raw stats ultra heavies bring to the table trump whatever gimmick other suits bring most of the time
The map design felt random too. Like they were going for PvE worldbuilding instead of adding shit that would be interesting for the format.
>>
>>23686985
It had great potential but
>forced rock paper scissors design combined with abhorrent balance
>dogshit extraction mode no one asked for
>singleplayer bait and switch that created unsatisfied demand for PvE and will likely derail the game into grindfest mmo-lite
>all the chinese casino bullshit with fomo, lootboxes etc
I don't have much hope left for its future since every major patch so far has doubled down on everything I've listed, but considering how both mecha vidiya and pvp vidiya situations are extremely dire I might as well stick with it until EOS since it's kinda the best we have now.
>>
For me, the mecha designs. Yes, I KNOW much was made about their pedigree. I don't care, because they look totally characterless and chinky. And that's just the vibe that chinkslop has, there's an indescribable blandness to the artistry behind the ~2,000,000 F2P chink games that are seeing releases these days that offers nothing for me to grasp onto. A shame, because the mecha did handle like a dream. Wish we got a Titanfall 3 that saw as much ongoing support as Apex Legends.
>>
Also that every single mode would throw some or all bots into the match and there was basically no guaranteed way to avoid bots, even when the game was popular enough. Bots were like an STD you caught for the crime of playing the game and could vary between terminal retard and aimhacks. I have no idea why the chinese do this.
>>
>>23688420
>because they look totally characterless and chinky
It is inspired by Gundam, yes.
>>
>>23686985
One of the reasons it shit the bed out west is because of the non stop marketer slop threads being spammed in every community that its spammers could reach. The mecha fanbase out here is largely older, more media and marketing savvy and I'm certain most of the people who might have been interested in the game eventually just decided to fucking ignore it after the thousandth gooner slop avatar spam thread, or the hundredth thread about Ishigaki or Yanase's involvement, or the fact that Sawano did some music.

the whole thing was such a transparently desperate effort to pique peoples interest, but despite all that, it couldn't ever once fucking sell the actual game, just all the trivia shit around it.
>>
>>23686985
The mechanical designs are genuinely quite ugly and soulless.
>>
>>23687000
This
>>
>>23688475
why do the Chinese over design their mechs?
>>
>>23688450
Except the proportions were made shitty, the design theme incoherent, and there's a complete lack of rest-detail balance. You'd need at least 105 IQ to at least intuit this much though
>>
Hero shooters with hard counters will always suck ass. Gunevo actually did it right where I never HAD to switch off Dickstabber because there was a Faggotron on the enemy team. I'll have a harder time but I could outplay him. Shame that game died for a multitude of other issues
>>
>>23686985
>why did it fail in the west

Man, where do I even begin? Everything about this game felt off. The menus are way too cluttered and look like something out of a mobile game. The extraction shooter shit was dead on arrival and by extension, the marketboard and by further extension all cosmetics could no longer be obtained outside of being a paypiggy.

Walking around the base should have been the lobby itself where you pick what content to do, much like Battle Operation 2 does.

Paradoxically, the character creation was both too indepth for its own good while offering no real variety. Everyone was some variation of a k-pop idol.

The combat itself was just a clusterfuck of particle effects and utterly abysmal balancing. Playing Tricera and having to unload 5 Heavyarms worth of bullets and missiles to just barely take down someone while one of the various unga bunga gorillas could decimate your HP in a handful of blows.
>>
>>23691030
They hired Japanese designers for the game actually. Yanase was one, but there are others.

Now granted, modern mecha designs coming from Japan also usually suck and Yanase was never good.
>>
>>23688450
>Gundams are ruined when they have a shitton of neon tubes, needless surface details, spikes and decals added to them

I've been saying this for decades. Chinks have a knack for ruining the beauty of Gundam.
>>
>>23688420
They tried to split a difference they really shouldn't have. They got big name artists, but also clearly tried to remind people of things they enjoy. There's a Macross robot, a Bayformers robot, an Armored Core Robot, a Nu Gundam, all sorts of shit. So you don't get the artists' personality, but it's also not quite whatever robot the consumer already knew and loved so you just get... this.
>>
>>23691175
Mecha break doesn't really have those but it has lots of mindless greeble spam. Like artist were in a hurry to evenly fill mech's surface with pointless details and just did it on autopilot. This is particularly noticeable on weapons.
Also you can see that certain design features are reused pretty heavily, like nearly identical looking heads on many mechs.
It reeks of crunch and desire to churn out polished looking (at first glance) designs that didn't have any time to get get refined.
>>
>>23686985
I spent 3/4ths of my playtime at base having "fun" with the posing system. Partially because my pc can barely run the main gameplay, partially because I genuinely like the posing a whole lot (and made people like it too). But it was getting a little bit boring and I needed drive space so it's gone for now. If I feel like it I might play with that some more in a couple months and see what stuff got added.
>>
>>23688470
I'll be honest anon you sound like you happily inhale your own farts on hourly basis
I don't even disagree but I want to just to not be associated with this attitude
>>
>>23688420
It's crazy they hired the xenogears designer only to make another spiky chinkbot you've seen a thousand times already
>>
Apparently it's an unpopular opinion here but I really like the mecha designs. By the way do we have a full list of artists for each of them or are like 3/4ths of them still a mystery?
>>
>>23691735
i don't think these chinese games ever credited their staff beyond the pr guys
i still don't know who hoyoverse designers are
>>
>>23691747
awwww :/
>>
>>23691168
Welcome to any Chinese medium that isn't live action film, Classic Manhua or classic Novel
>>
Great game imo. The more fighting game esque melee combat (where you have overhead guard break vs parry vs attack) appended on to Armored Core / Virtual On esque movement and shooting is great. I also enjoy how distinct all the mechs feel, they did a great job making it NOT feel like a "hero shooter" where every mech has its own ammo and weapon systems instead of 2-3 moves on cooldown. Great game modes too, whoever had the idea of mashing the typical payload escort game-mode with king of the hill brawls needs a raise.

It's had a few problems, season 0 got utterly busted matchmaking by the end where every match was filled with stacking/griefing/smurfing/etc. but they fixed that pretty quick. Some people wine about events and cosmetics, but it's honestly pretty tame compared to most games of this type (you start with almost every mech unlocked and getting each new one is not that hard). I don't know why the people who care about playing dress-up waifu sim would be blind-sided by cosmetics gaccha or grind for it, I'm just thankful the core pvp mode has none of that.
>>
>>23693564
>The more fighting game esque melee combat
Dogshit melee combat is the reason the whole game fell apart and devolved into CC spam vs Permanent untargetability arms race.
>>
>>23686985
Should have been a singleplayer game with optional online mutliplayer instead of being another live service game.
>>
>>23694989
Live service games are the only way for management to not fire 3/4 of the staff on release day.
>>
>>23694989
Nigger this shit is completely unsuitable for singleplayer. Whatever PvE content it does have is a miserable soul crushing slog because combat is fundamentally designed for team PvP.
This shit is NOT live service Armored Core, even if you ignore the lack of garage. Retards who keep asking seaslug for more PvE are completely fucking culeless but Seaslug have only themselves to blame for the rugpull they did with fake story tutorial and upcoming extractionslop marketed as PvE in the beta.
>>
>>23695032
Yeah, because it was built for PvPvE GaaS game so of course it won't work as a single player game if they simply removed all the live service shit. Hence my post. It should have been made as a single player game to begin with. I'm tired of all these games being made as gacha/GaaS because they want to chase that mobage money.
>>
>>23695052
>I wish a completely different game randomly existed instead of this particular one that requires different resources, skillsets and workflow
Okay I also wish more singleplayer mecha games existed, but what the fuck does it have to do with Mecha Break?
>>
>>23695101
Op asked a question and I answered.
>>
>>23686985
Pretty good.
>>
>>23686985
The gameplay is fun but it has too many menus, it's confusing
>>
>>23695000
Couldn't they just have more than one game in development?
>>
Game needs a warbond system where you can unlock sidegrades to certain mechs that changes the way the striker fights. Like the Skyraider turned to an air superiority mech or an attacker. Tricera switching out gatlings for armor penetrated railgun slugs.
>>
Another Hero Shooter, just hidden behind a thin coating of chink mecha, who's only purpose is to sell gooner skins to whales.

I uninstalled my game when I had to purchase HAIR COLOR.
>>
>>23686985
I liked ass
I hated everything else
>>
>>23698053
Hair color is literally the only thing you can freely customize with full RGB sliders for free out of the box, retard.
>>
>>23698141
Gay.
>>
I'd have kept playing if they didn't force bots into the game, rendering every match completely fucking unplayable. When 9/10 """players""" online are soulless, cheating, retarded clankers designed only to waste your time, why should I bother at all?
>>
ya think the new mech will be good?
>>
>>23707710
No. Why would this one be different?
>>
>>23686985
I played it for a big and had fun with the big axe mech.
Left for a bit and now i can't find a game :(
>>
I tried to enjoy it so many things in this game is just wrong, the movement mechanics are just fucking shit, you can only move at a snails' pace without boost, boosting has no momentum, and boosting several times eat up all your EN.
This makes the entire game feels like straight garbage. On top of this, half of the objective is about mashing a button and hoping nobody stops you, also garbage, the objective should work automatically in a small radius at the very least.
The maps sucks, too many mechs are shallow the optimisation is horrendous even on a 1K$ GPU, the matchmaking sucks, the monetization sucks (50 bucks skin LMAO), the fluid shield mechanic is nonsense, etc
Also the devs' idea of forcing teamwork is to build in match up you can possibly win against in 1vs1, and also the token OP mech that's strong against everyone else. It's pathetic, it's obvious that this will lead to whatever is your natural predator in the other team will hyperfocus on your ass the entire match.
I was actually hyped for this too.
>>
>>23691174
>Yanase was never good.
Shut the fuck up

>>23691143
>Hero shooters with hard counters will always suck ass.
ah so that's what's going on, I never played an hero shooter before and even I noticed immediately how much of an obviously terrible idea this is.
>>
>>23686985
Free to play multiplayer games just suck ass

So why do people here keep playing GBO2?
>>
>>23708723
Same reason people still keep watching generic isekai.
Tasteless people enjoy the suck.
>>
>This thread
No wonder /a/ and /v/ seem to seethe and get angry at the mere mention of you guys. Not sucking off Gooks and Chinks 24/7 is a surefire way to be hated nowadays
>>
>>23708723
It's pretty muxh the only Gundam game there is unless you want to get into arena fighters
>>
>>23707710
Probably another broken piece of shit considering the power creep we've been seeing so far. More spammable untargetability, more untelegraphed uncounterable AOE stuns.
>>
>>23708723
Because it gets new content every single week.
>>
>>23709544
Does it?
>>
>>23711692
If you count a new MS to waste money gacha rolling for content then yes.
>>
>>23686985
Personalityless slop whose only selling point is plastic dolls in pilot suits, and that's kinda the main problem I have with most Chinese things, there's nothing there for me to care for.
>>
>>23691030
Because that's what they think looks cool and powerful.
>>
Stellaris is a gay AF name for a mech like that, they should have named it something a liiitle more threatening...like Susanoo or something.
>>
>>23691030
Stupid people admire complexity, smart people admire simplicity.
>>
>>23718189
Then people would start screaming plagiarism
>>
>>23718189
>Stellaris is a gay AF name
Stellaris is a gay AF mech.
>>
Style over substance. Also chinese monetization.
>>
>>23722978
>Style over substance
Not an argument.
>>
>>23695000
Not true at all.
