>>23695624I think they should just redo 0079, like a 50th anniversary thing, go all out and give the series a real makeover with all the modern bells and whistles, make it look at least as good as the Doan's Island remake movie, but for like the whole series.I think one area you could improve the series is by wanking Char a bit more in the first half, making him into more of a threat throughout the show. In the original, despite everyone acting like he's some great ace pilot, we rarely see any evidence of it in the series itself as he bitches out of basically every encounter with Amuro. You could have him win a couple of the skirmishes. I think the only named character he kills in the original series in woody, matilda's husband, which is kinda weak. I just think he could stand to be more of a threat in a potential redo.

>>23702079I like Amuro and Char being evenly matched, with Amuro just barely edging out Char by the very end. That's what the original series was going for at least, and I don't think it should change. Char is the better pilot for the first half of the series, Amuro survives because the Gundam is so much more powerful than the MS Char has access to, as the series goes on Amuro progresses as a pilot and eventually starts to match Char, and by the time Char is in the Gelgoog, a MS which is a match for the Gundam they're evenly matched, and their fights could go either way, this is where I'd have Char win a few encounters, maybe the Texas battle could go to Char, but make it obvious that they're very close in terms of combat ability, then the rest of the show can play out roughly the same, With the Zeong and Gundam shooting eachother down at the end, the last shooting is so iconic and perfect you can't possibly change it.Rather than change the story being told I think any changes should just be in service of better telling the story they were trying to tell. Again they're trying to make Char out to be this threatening ace pilot that the White Base crew are running in fear from, but if you watch the show Char's a joke and loses every fight, so what I'd change is just have him win a few of the skirmishes, early on, make the White Base and Amuro pull through by sheer luck. That makes Char a threat to better tell the story they're already telling. I can see why you could make Char more of a calculating machiavellian figure who loses on purpose as a way to open of a opportunity to kill a Zabi, like Garma, and that doesn't seem too out of character for him, but I'd stick closer to what the show was trying to tell with smaller adjustments.
