Why is it when I google this show, some random guy with a microphone shows up?
>>
I thought this sucked honestly

The manga is better.
Yeah, it's bleak, but runs with it and tries to deliver a hopeful message despite everything.
>Your time is limited, so you should cherish those around you and try to do your best to protect them because life is precious.
Yeah, some moments are unnecessary, like the whole deal with the teacher. But in the grand scheme of things, he doesn't matter to the pilots.
Also whinning about deconstruction is not an argument in itself, just like it isn't a praise.
>>
>>23699443
Does it answer any of the MANY unanswered questions form the anime?
>>
>>23699244
I fucking hate Gigguk for being SEA blooded
>>
>>23699460
NTA but I think so, the anime deviated from the manga. Chief being every kid pilot dies (the sister who survived in the anime actually piloted and died). And the dung beetle decide to redeem himself by sacrificing his life to mentor the next universe just like the first old man did.
>>
>>23699443
Amusingly despite the manga being bleak, it was never gory, which I really appreciate. Usually with edginess they'd always tend to be as part and parcel, but Bokurano despite the implications they were never gratuitous.
>>

do we get any info on the creators of the system? And that picture one of the guys had of his "family"?
>>
>>23699180
6/10 manga held up by a 10/10 ending.
I never watched the anime because I heard it changes the ending, which is the only good part.

>Creators of the System
That's anime's fanfiction.
Manga calls it a natural phenomena, something that happens at random. It happened once and it could happen again in a couple weeks or in a couple millenia.
>>23699517
Funny you mention the ending. I find the whole situation with Jun extremely convoluted and manipulative to make the audience feel bad for him despite being a piece of shit most of the time. Now don't get me wrong, it WAS effective, but i still rise an eyebrow at the whole set up.
>>
>>23699594
So giant mecha are just something that shows up naturally? Like crabs?
>anime ending
I'm gonna be honest I completely forgot how the anime ended
>>
Bokurano is a tribute to that one 70s mecha manga where all the protagonists are killed off one by one by flesh eating fungi leaving all the plot points unresolved.
>>
>liked Bokurano (Manga)
>checked Narutaru out of curiosity
Holy shit it's the fucking bleakest manga I've ever read, what's more flabbergasting was that it pulled End of Evangelion ending plus Adam & Eve scenario.

That would be George Katayama’s manga MOON, predates Mazinger Z even. This story is even referenced in universe as a manga in bokurano. I myself haven’t read this yet but wasn’t the alien fungi just another villain plot of the week that actually succeeded?
>>
>>23699703
>This story is even referenced in universe as a manga in bokurano
Hell, even the name of the mech is inspired by it.
>>
>>23699684
All I know about Narutaru is that a bunch of little anime girls die horrific, gory deaths, and one of them was a total bitch that had it coming. That scene was kinda hot.
>>
>>23699703
Such a garbage ending.
>>
>>23699812
The author is absolutely into *that*. Every one of his works has a pedo winning, he loves killing kids and is on record saying that childhood innocence is fake bullshit and the little girls on his train ride home know they're trying to seduce him.
>>
>>23699823
Every time I think I'm the biggest pervert on Earth I learn about someone whose power level far exceeds mine.
>>
How exactly is it a deconstruction? Just because a story is sad doesn't mean it is intentionally subverting anything.
Stories of self-sacrifice in battle are extremely common not only in Japan but worldwide. Are those stories also "deconstructions?" Is the only "real" story the simple three act structure where everyone ends up happy?

Oh no I completely agree with that, I barely felt bad for him. But making him kill an entire planet just to kill everyone is still an actually cool thing to have happen. Also the panels for it are obviously amazing.
>>
>>23700017
Honestly it's just alright. The first arc is really good if you ask me, then it kind of flounders into a completely what the fuck shitty ending.
>>
>>23699976
>dude porn lmao
>>
>>23700030
I finished it just now and I think the ending is good but the way the mold machine was introduced was too sudden. I guess the message about merchants selling the world for short term profit has always been relevant but it feels especially so now.
>>
>>23699615
>So giant mecha are just something that shows up naturally? Like crabs?
Got problems with Transformers and Zoids bud?
>>
>>23700511
Calling it a rushed ending would be generous. There's no closure to anything and the message is really terrible too.

>dog aliens from space show up
>you silly humans with your silly wars, why haven't you homogenized into a single culture like us yet?
>as proof of our peaceful ways, we're gonna slowly destroy your planet with mold
>>
>>23699703

>entire arc about a rich, old bastard wanting the new generation to worship him and make his life be a paradise
>hypnotizes his generation to harass and even murder the youth
>despite kidnapping young women to make himself a harem of underage girls and unleashing a robot army on the world, all he gets is jail because he conceded at the end

Best arc with the best commentary. Only way it would have been better is if they actually killed him for his evils. Still relevant too.
